Legendary FBI Detective-Chapter 186: Sniper!
"Sniper!"
"There’s a sniper! Find cover!"
The bullets came before the sound, and all the SWAT officers on site understood the situation and hurriedly shouted while bending down to look for cover.
Not only that, one of the SWAT officers who had served in the Marine Corps even explained loudly:
"M40! The sniper rifle they’re using is an M40!"
He was very familiar with this gun.
"Where’s Rossland?"
Hearing the model of the sniper rifle, Luo An frowned and urgently asked about the condition of their current target:
"How is Rossland Lewis now?"
Just now, when bullet holes appeared on the SWAT troop carrier, Luo An clearly saw a spurt of fresh blood.
Behind the troop carrier, a SWAT officer, who had quickly lay down upon hearing Luo An’s shout and felt as if he had just cheated death, looked at Luo An gratefully.
Meanwhile, this SWAT officer was pressing his hands tightly against the bleeding neck of Rossland on the ground, shouting:
"Rossland has been shot in the neck! Call an ambulance immediately!"
Although shot in the neck, there was still a chance for survival.
If it weren’t for Luo An’s shout just then, and the two SWAT officers subconsciously pushing Rossland down, judging by the position of the bullet holes on the troop carrier, Rossland would have been shot in the head.
Thinking of this, Lede and the other SWAT officers all looked at Luo An with shock and gratitude.

As for how Luo An was able to detect the sniper in advance, no one on the scene asked about his thoughts; they had already figured out a reason for Luo An in their minds:
Intuition.
Whether it’s soldiers in the army or these SWAT officers, they battle with the enemy on the line of life and death all year round and more or less have their own intuition, which often saves their lives.
In the eyes of the SWAT officers, Luo An was clearly someone with particularly strong intuition.
With this thought, most SWAT officers put Luo An at the very top of their "most wanted to team up with on a mission" list, and planned to build a good relationship with him after the mission was over, inviting him for a drink.
The reason was simple: being on a mission with someone like Luo An, who has strong intuition, undoubtedly increases the chances of survival.
Relieved to know that Rossland wasn’t dead, Luo An immediately pressed the communicator and said loudly:
"Have the ambulance come at full speed!"
"Understood!"
Upon receiving a positive response from the communicator, Luo An quickly stood up to observe the bullet marks on the troop carrier, his thoughts whirring.
The SWAT officer had just mentioned that the sniper was using an M40 rifle, which has an effective range of about 1000 yards, or approximately 910 meters.
There was approximately a 2-second gap between the appearance of the bullet marks and the sound, and the speed of sound is 340, plus considering the wind speed and Rossland’s position just now...
Soon, Luo An identified several potential locations from where the sniper could have fired and then led the agents there at high speed.
Unfortunately, by the time the SWAT officers reached those spots, they found no trace of the sniper.
However, Luo An, using his experience as an assassin to judge others, successfully led Lede to the rooftop of an unoccupied villa, where they found traces of the enemy’s shots.
But the opponent was clearly an experienced old-timer, who retreated immediately after missing the shot, very decisive, and did not leave any clues that could confirm his identity.
——
When Luo An and Lede returned to the Fifth Investigation Unit, it was already late, and it was almost time to get off work.
"This case is getting more complicated now."
Upon hearing the news that a sniper rifle had been used, Augustus couldn’t sit still in the team leader’s office either.
Like the rocket launcher, the sniper rifle is a weapon that both the NYPD and FBI take very seriously.
Sitting in his chair, Luo An rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
Seeing Luo An with a distressed expression, Mona quietly poured him a cup of coffee and said:
"Lede and Reesi are on duty tonight guarding Rossland, that guy’s neck wound is quite serious, and the surgery might take a long time.
But once his surgery is done, we can start the interrogation."
As she spoke, Mona and William, along with the others, all looked at Luo An with admiration.
They had also heard about how precise Luo An’s intuition was.
"Regarding Rossland, the situation in this case has already become much clearer."
He took a sip of coffee and quietly thanked Mona before walking to the front of the office area, pulled over a whiteboard, and started writing and drawing as he analyzed:
"Somebody hired Rossland to kidnap Triss Perez and Loel Post, trying to get some information out of them.
Once they revealed the information, Rossland killed them and dumped their bodies in a garbage heap.
Without that cat named Bush, we might never have found Rossland, and this case would have remained unsolved."
"You’re right."
Augustus, standing beside the whiteboard, nodded and continued,
"As we went to arrest Rossland, someone from behind the scenes sent an assassin with a sniper rifle to silence them, attempting to completely erase any clues related to this case.
So, who is this mastermind behind the scenes? What exactly are they trying to hide?"
"I don’t know."
Drawing a big question mark on the whiteboard, Luo An casually tossed the pen aside, turned around with a serious expression, and said to Augustus:
"But I’m worried about something else right now."
"It’s about Rossland’s safety, right?"
Augustus patted his stomach, indicating that he understood Luo An’s thoughts, and explained:
"In addition to Reed and Reesi, I’ve also contacted two SWAT teams.
They will guard Rossland around the clock and will never let him out of their sight."
"It’s not just Rossland."
Luo An shook his head:
"Rossland is important, but he’s not the most crucial."
Augustus was taken aback, and asked in confusion:
"What do you mean?"
"There’s also our Team Five of investigators; we are the main force in cracking this case."
Pouring himself a cup of coffee, Luo An drank it in one gulp and said:
"If the mastermind behind the scenes gets desperate, they might attempt to harm the agents of our Team Five."
"What?"
"That can’t be possible."
Hearing this, William and the other technical agents looked tense, Mona banged the table and stood up, Augustus’s dark face turned even darker:
"Are you sure?"
Kidnapping and murdering FBI agents would only result in being the target of a nation-wide FBI investigation and search, a price not easily borne by anyone.
But it’s not like such events have never happened.
"I’m not sure."
Luo An shook his head; he couldn’t be certain about this kind of thing.
But considering that they had the audacity to use a psychologically unstable killer like Rossland...
Before handling such cases, one must always be mentally prepared and have prior planning, right?
"Son of a bitch!"
Augustus muttered under his breath, arms crossed over his chest as his eyes flicked around, his expression fluctuating.
After a long moment of thought, Augustus exhaled deeply and raised his head to say:
"Luo An, you just lead Team Five in solving the case, leave this kind of thing to me!"
Faced with this kind of situation, Augustus never thought of backing down, as a leader, protecting his team was his responsibility.
"Alright, boss."
Luo An nodded; he liked leaders like Augustus who truly stand up when things happen.
Augustus quickly left the office area, Luo An raised an eyebrow, turned to look at Mona, and asked:
"How’s it going Mona, I asked you earlier to look for information about Triss, did you find anything?"
"I didn’t find any clues on Triss."
Hearing this, Mona sat back down, her fingers dancing across the keyboard as she spoke:
"But with her boyfriend, that is, Loel Post, I’ve actually uncovered something quite significant."
