Legendary FBI Detective-Chapter 103: Some Discomfort Afterwards
"What's going on?"
Upon hearing Fletcher's words, Luo An quickly inquired.
"The story in the notebook is almost finished. When I was walking back from my friend's house, my car had some problems on the road."
Fletcher rubbed his eyes and explained:
"At that time, I took the car to a repair shop, and I accidentally left the notebook in the car that evening.
If I'm not mistaken, it's highly likely that the staff at the repair shop have perused this notebook."
"OK."
Luo An's eyelids twitched slightly, and after a few seconds of silence, he slowly nodded and then continued to ask for other information.
However, due to the flour, Fletcher's mind wasn't very clear, he even dozed off while sitting in the chair later.
Seeing this, Luo An frowned and did not continue to inquire, leaving the interrogation room and asking William to take Fletcher away for temporary detention.
Back at his workstation, Luo An looked at Fletcher's notebook for a while, tilted his head towards Mona:
"How long has Reesi been gone?"
"About half an hour, I guess."
Mona glanced at the clock at the very front of the No. 5 Investigation Team area and said:
"I saw her coming out of the interrogation room and went straight to the equipment library."
Luo An nodded his head, seeing Mona's fingers flying on the keyboard, he tilted his head and asked:
"What are you checking?"
"Augustus asked me to look into the records and itineraries of several NYPD officers who had reviewed the bank robbery cases."
Mona shrugged and explained:
"Augustus feels that the previous four cases may be related to the NYPD."
"Oh"
Upon hearing this, Luo An's eyebrows twitched, and he asked:
"Did Augustus find any information related to the robbers?"
"Probably not."
Mona slowly shook her head, Augustus hadn't told her much, just told her to check and see.
"OK."
Seeing Luo An's hesitant appearance, Mona's lips curved into a smile, and she asked softly:
"So, anything you need help with?"
"Indeed, there is."
Luo An nodded and directly said:
"In the fifth and sixth cases, the two robbers planned to use Journalists for reconnaissance.
Just now, in Fletcher's notebook, there was also mention of using Journalists for bank reconnaissance.
I feel there is definitely a connection, but I don't yet know where.
However, we can put that aside for now, I currently want you to check the female individuals in the surveillance two days prior to the occurrence of the first four cases, look at their identities and jobs, to see if they are related to professions like journalists.
If there are connections between these professions, they also might be related to the first four robbery cases, even possibly being the scouts sent to the banks by the robbers."
"No problem! Leave it to me!"
After hearing this, Mona decisively nodded and agreed, observing Luo An's slightly astonished face, she smiled slightly:
"Augustus said he's not in a hurry, it's alright if I finish in three days."
Luo An suddenly realized it, and patted Mona's shoulder:
"Hard work appreciated."
Mona waved her hand, indicating it was a minor matter, and then picked up the phone and dialed to those banks.
Most of America's banks keep surveillance footage for about three months, so a little over an hour later, Mona obtained the surveillance video from the bank lobbies of the four days prior to the robbery incidents.
Luo An sat abruptly back onto the chair at his workstation, just about to start reviewing the video with Mona when his phone suddenly rang.
"It's me, Reesi."
Faint noises came from the other end of the phone, and Reesi's voice sounded tired:
"I just checked the motel, Fletcher wasn't lying, he was indeed here at the time of the incident."
"Okay."
Luo An smacked his tongue, hearing Reesi's off state over the phone, his face immediately turned solemn and asked:
"What happened over there? Do you need to call for backup?"
"No."
Reesi's voice came through the phone, rejecting the offer. She immediately explained:
"When I arrived here, the hotel owner was being arrested by the New Jersey police for growing plants on the rooftop and balcony.
I just had a hard time convincing the New Jersey police to let me interrogate the hotel owner and check the hotel surveillance first."
"…Hard work."
Hearing Reesi's confident assurance that she could handle these minor issues, Luo An twitched his mouth and hung up the phone.
Mainly because Luo An heard the voice of a female police officer from New Jersey over the phone and judged that it was likely her.
Soon, it was time to leave work for the day.
After confirming Fletcher's condition with William, Luo An left the office like everyone else, drove his Chevrolet to a nearby supermarket to buy a few bottles of red wine, and then leisurely headed to the Rider's house.
An exceptionally lavish barbecue feast.
——
The next day, at the Jacob Federation Building.
Luo An walked out of the restroom, looked at his somewhat haggard face in the mirror, and felt a bit of discomfort behind him, which made him twitch the corner of his mouth.
"No, I need to eat more vegetables and fruits."
The situation was such that even the physical potion system launched at midnight last night was of no use.
A detox potion might have been useful, but Luo An did not want to use such a crucial life-saving potion on such matters.
"Good morning, Luo An!"
Back in the office area of Investigation Group Five, Rider waved at Luo An with a smile, and Luo An barely nodded in return.
Reesi and Mona were also present, currently sitting together, excitedly discussing cosmetics on the computer.

"Good morning, everyone!"
A familiar opening line and loud voice echoed at the door of Investigation Group Five, as Augustus, with his big belly, walked in carrying a bag of breakfast.
Without any chit-chat, Augustus stood at the forefront of the office area and directly looked at William, saying:
"William, tell us about the investigation results from yesterday!"
"I'll do it."
Just as William was about to stand up, Luo An waved his hand to indicate that he would handle it today.
"Ladies and gentlemen, yesterday we caught a former Boy Scout, Fletcher."
William sat back down, and Luo An took a deep breath, took out his notebook, and began to introduce to everyone:
"Based on what Fletcher confessed, we have clarified the general details of four robbery incidents.
Four months ago, Fletcher's wife died. Three months ago, Fletcher decided to use the rest of his life to complete his wife's unfinished dream, and soon after, the script for the bank robberies appeared.
Many people have seen this script, not only Fletcher's friends and family, but as Fletcher mentioned, employees of a certain repair shop might have seen it as well.
Last month, the first bank robbery occurred, and the actions of the robbers completely matched the description in the script; hence, we can conclude that the gang of robbers definitely saw Fletcher's script!"
"Good."
Augustus nodded in satisfaction, signaling Luo An to continue.
Luo An walked to the front of Investigation Group Five, pulled over a whiteboard, and while writing, said:
"Our next steps in the investigation are threefold:
First, carefully scrutinize Fletcher's friends and family who have seen the script, with special attention to those with military experience.
Second, go to the repair shop mentioned by Fletcher to ensure whether someone there has really seen the notebook, and if so, identify who they are.
Third, review the surveillance footage from four days before the bank robbery..."
"Very good!"
Listening to Luo An's narrative, Augustus waved a large hand, signaling the technical staff of Investigation Group Five to immediately check the personnel, then cocked his head toward the field agents:
"Who will go to the repair shop?"
"Let Reesi and Rider handle it."
Feeling the faint discomfort at his back, Luo An twitched the corner of his mouth:
"Fletcher was unclear yesterday, and there are still many questions to be asked, so I will have to interrogate him later."
"OK."
Augustus nodded, Reesi and Rider didn't say anything, and both got up and headed to the equipment room.
Half an hour later, Fletcher was taken back to the interrogation room.
