Chapter 66 - A Duel(1)

"Noah..." A voice came from behind, a voice all too familiar—Sickeningly sweet, coated in nothing but poison. My brows twitched as the smile on my face faded, I turned my head to glance at the shit that had approached me.

Beautiful Auburn hair that reached till her shoulders. Blue eyes that held nothing but fake warmth and gentleness. She was nothing but a deception.

"Elisabeth..." My jaw tightened as her name left my lips.

"We need to talk..." She mumbled out. Her hands were clasped in front of her uniform.

"Talk? For what?" I blurted out, controlling the sheer disgust that had almost coated my voice. I needed to control myself—My anger.

She flinched back, her grip tightening on her skirt. Lips pressed into a thin line. "About our engagement." She stated, her tone was laced with something that sounded like regret. "I wanted to talk about mendin—"

I raised my hands. "Stop right there." I moved over towards her, my shadow looming over her face, my eyes locked with hers. "The engagement was over the day I said it was over."

My fists clenched, my veins bulged, and my jaw tightened. "Don't you dare approach me with that filthy look of yours."

Everyone in the room gasped because of what I just did. I did not do something small like hitting a cat with a stone—I insulted a Duke's daughter, which would give me a bad image.

But if I cared for public opinion, I wouldn't have returned here.

"B-but our families are still tied by the en—"

"I don't care about the Blitzfelds or the Edelstein. Both can fuck each other till death." She tried to argue, but I shut her down. My statement made another gasp run through the students.

They had started murmuring about what was happening, and I knew that this would soon turn into a gossip for the whole month in the academy.

Usual Nobles, they have nothing useful to do other than pry into someone else's business.

My eyes drifted to two figures that had started walking towards me. One had snow white hair with sapphire eyes. He was rather handsome, but that is where his qualities ended.

Felix Von Frostholm—A sack of shit with insecurity as the size of the fucking Titanic. A snobby noble brat who thinks he is better than others. Someone who does not know a damn about the hardship of the world he lives in.

The other one—Oh, I had some old debt to pay to her. She had Blonde hair with a darker tone than mine, beautiful teal eyes just like her mother. It was none other than my indifferent half sister.

Alea Von Blitzfeld.

And I haven't forgotten what she did to me during my escape from the estate. And there is no way in hell that she is gonna get away with it.

[Noah, control yourself. There are other people in here.] Dante said. My eyes swept over the crowd that circled us, and I knew this was not a good place to shoot my lightning.

I turned around, ignoring everyone. I need to get out of here and go to the dorm room. I can deal with Alea later, and as for Elisabeth, this should be enough—more than enough.

But sometimes people become unbearable.

"Noah, is this how it will really end?" Elisabeth yelled, but I paid no heed. She is nothing but a useless whore. Jumping from person to person who held more power. Although I know the situation with her brother's eternal sleep.

But there is no reason for me to care if the Edelstein Duchy crumbles.

"Noah, please—I really care about you!" Her cries continued. "Did you not love me?!"

I stopped.

My steps halted.

I don't know why.

But something like a thread within me snapped.

It felt like something was crawling up my skin. My blood heated up like a forge heats the blade. My nails bit into my palms, leaving temporary marks.

Raising my arm, I whipped around.

SMACK!

A sound of hitting flesh echoed in the whole room, everything went silent. There were no murmurs or talks, everyone stared wide-eyed with disbelief.

Elisabeth's cheek turned red, her head tilted to the side. Her jaw fell open as she slowly turned her head to look at me with her widened eyes.

I stared back at her without restraint, my anger bubbled inside me. Screaming in my mind. And with the slap I had landed, it all came loose.

"The fuck are you talking about love?" I spat. "You don't know a thing about it. And don't pretend like you do."

"You used me to avoid other nobles, used me to gain protection for your weak Duchy. And that is all there is."

"I—I—Noa—"

"Shut the fuck up and if you want to use that mouth of yours, go and suck on Felix's micro dick. I bet he will give you the comfort of being a concubine."

As soon as those words left my mouth, her face paled. It was as if everything around her had shattered. A reaction that I liked, but I held my smirk back.

"Don't you dare come near me again," I leaned in closer, whispering in her ear. "Next time, it won't end at a single slap."

I stepped away from Elisabeth, she was now trembling. Her face hung low, her grip tightening further.

Moving away from her, I turned my head towards Albert, who was just staring at me. I wouldn't blame him for that.

Slapping a Duke's daughter takes balls.

And I have two of those.

"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST SAY ABOUT ME!!"

I smirked as I heard the enraged voice of someone. Guess I struck a nerve, huh?

Turning on my feet, I saw Felix approaching me with heavy steps. Veins bulged at his temples, his teeth gritting tightly. "Hey bastard! What did you just say?!" He demanded, but all I could see was someone stricken with insecurity.

"The truth," I stated curtly, a small smile playing at my lips. "Did it hurt that much?"

Felix's expression twisted further. His knuckles clenched so hard they turned white. "Apologise now! To me," He pointed his index finger towards Elisabeth. "And her."

"What if I say no?"

"Then you will fucking pay with your blood!" He raised his fist to strike me, but before it could land, a hand stopped him.

"That is enough, Felix."

Alea held his hand firmly, looking him dead in the eyes. "It is not worth it." She looked at me with that same expressionless face, but there was a twitch of something. Maybe she was angry as well.

My smirk grew wider. "Oh my, are you backing down now, Felix?" My voice dropped lower. "As expected of a mommy's milk drinker."

Felix's face twisted further due to the sheer rage. Veins bulged all over his face, his jaw tightened with the sound of teeth grinding.

"LET GO!" He shoved off Alea's hand, reaching for the ring on his finger. He pulled out a cream white glove from the warp and threw it at me.

"I, Felix Von Frostholm challenge Noah Von Blitzfeld, to a Duel."
