Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams-Chapter 28: Nypharon

Seeing the spider down everybody finally relaxed. Khali went up to it, even lying down this thing was still massive.

He kicked it and it flinched. He clicked his tongue. ’ Still alive.’ he was about to stab it eyes with his spear then he stopped.

He followed it eyes and saw it was looking intensely at the tunnel it came from. He went towards it. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

The spider struggled and tried to drag it body towards the tunnel. Now he was certain there was something important to it there.

He ignored the struggling spider and went through the tunnel. After walking about 30 metres in he came to a large cave.

It was smaller than the one he just came from but still large. The cave was covered in eggs.

Thousands and thousands of eggs, hanging from the ceiling and walls and covering the entire floor of the cave.

At the end of the cave was a large corpse of a spider. It was even larger than the one he just fought.

Even after death he could still feel the power emanating from it. " I wonder what killed you."

He drew closer to the corpse and saw slash wounds all over it body. The wounds looked like they were from a saw blade.

He shook his head, he knew this was the mother spider but then what laid these eggs?

’ Oh I see.’ the metal skin spider was the new queen and these eggs belonged to it. ’ No wonder it was so agitated.’

He went back, " Freya, I need you to learn this." He transferred a spell into her mind. Freya sighed.

" Another spell? What is this one for?"

" Taming." He replied and took Viona and left.

They followed after him and left the spider there. With it wounds, it would die in a few days if unattended.

So until Freya learnt the beast taming spell, the spider had to be taken care of. Luckily she had the wood element.

Although it wasn’t the nature element, it was the closest thing to it plus her affinity for support magic which taming fell under.

Learning the spell shouldn’t take too much effort. Especially considering it was the lowest taming spell.

Before then he planned to teach Lucy more things that can be useful. He realised trying to teach all of them was a waste of his time.

So he would teach her since she learnt everything very quickly then she would teach them.

However the first order of business was creating paper and ink. Both processes required machines and chemicals he didn’t have yet.

So he planned to make the basic versions of each. To do that they would need wood, a lot of wood.

Fortunately they had a forest, unfortunately the forest was alive and will probably try to kill them.

He informed Lucy of his plans and she couldn’t hold back her excitement. She even wanted to accompany them to the forest.

Of course he turned her down, this woman was too valuable to risk her life and she was weak.

To an absurd level, she spent most of her time studying and so the only spell she knew was neglected.

If she came along she would just hold them back. She sulked for a while but he didn’t change his mind.

Viona woke up and he informed her as well. They would leave in two days, before then he had things to prepare.

Two days later they were ready, the forest might be even more dangerous than the spider nest.

So he brought all of his warriors and mages and every weapon they could carry. Each warrior was carrying a large basket behind them.

The baskets were filled with black round objects, he also brought the male fire lizard along.

Viona and Freya wouldn’t let him take the pregnant female. They stood facing the forest but didn’t see the treants.

Viona led them in, they expected the forest to attack but the attack did not come. This time they were not searching for the passage to the next layer.

They went further into the forest, the trees they had burnt had grown again and it had only been a few days.

The further in they went the more plant species he saw. Some for food and others useful in medicine.

Then he saw bamboo and couldn’t help but grin. He had already found mulberry trees all over the place.

Finding bamboo gave him another option in making paper. Finding a binder for ink was easy.

There were a lot of trees with sticky tree sap. However they didn’t stop and continued going further in.

If they were going to take over this place they needed to remove all the threats. However the forest did not attack.

The treants did not show up but that only made him more vigilant. " Ready your weapons."

His soldiers listened and stood tense waiting for anything to show up and something did. Infront of them appeared a massive treant.

Behind it were even more treants but this one made him wary. It was a rank 2 treant, he immediately grabbed the black sphere.

It was a grenade but not the caltrop grenade. This one released intense flames, it was created specifically to deal with wood lifeforms like these.

He was ready to throw it at any moment when he heard a sweet voice behind the treant.

" Please, we mean no harm." The voice said then a beautiful woman showed up. She was barely wearing anything.

Her dark skinned body was covered in a leaf bra that did nothing to hide her large supple breasts and a short leafy dress.

She had green eyes and long ears like elves, her long black hair was decorated in flowers in leafs, below her eyes was a bit of green.

However she did not add them, she was born with those flowers, leafs and green spots since this woman was a dryad, a child of the forest.

One thing about them was that they were very peaceful but very protective of the forests.

If they felt Khali and his party posed any threat to the forest they would fight them to the death.

" I am Nypharon, pleasure to meet you child of dreams." Khali grew wary when she said that.

" How’d you know?" He asked. Nypharon smiled softly at him. " We have a lot to talk about."
