Laid-Back Life in Tokyo: I Really Didn't Want to Work Hard-Chapter 778 - 465: Uesugi is an Ancient Person
Uesugi Sakura felt that after following Hanabi for half a day, he could finally recall the drawing skills he learned in high school.
To be honest, little Hanabi’s drawing skills are extremely advanced. With just a few strokes, Uesugi Sakura could understand the overall structure of what she was drawing. Sometimes he couldn’t quite get it, but once she added a line, he would understand instantly.
As class ended, it was almost noon, but many students were still diligently working on their sketches.
Uesugi Sakura guessed that the session would only end when the life model was off duty.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, at noon, 11:30, the life model clocked out, and the students gradually stopped their work and began to wrap up.
"Hmm....."
Kitagawa Sakisa stretched lazily as Uesugi Sakura approached Hanamaru Hanabi from behind.
He glanced at Kitagawa Sakisa’s drawing, which was only half done, and asked:
"Will you continue in the afternoon?"
"Yeah," Kitagawa Sakisa nodded, "of course, we’re dedicating the whole day to drawing this life sketch."
This assignment obviously needed to be submitted. Uesugi Sakura, in order to spend time with Hanamaru Hanabi, had specially chosen the same elective as her.
Which means, he also counts as a student of Professor Ebitani giving the lecture today, and has to submit a piece of work too.
Tokyo University considered this as fully placing himself here, with all grades and assessments being judged by Art College.
To be honest, an exchange student like him was a bit unbelievable, but the fact is, Kyujuu Rika could indeed arrange such a thing for him.
The influence and network of the Kyujuu Family in Tokyo probably have unusually tremendous power and influence.
Eh, all talk about equality is fake; it’s just that people in power are hiding their privileges now.
"Sakura-kun, want to join us for lunch?" Hanamaru Hanabi turned her head sideways and asked Uesugi Sakura behind her.
"Of course."
Kitagawa Sakisa stretched again: "Hmm, then let’s go, take a break and come back in the afternoon. Ah, Hanabi, are you going to work at the café this afternoon?" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Hanamaru Hanabi glanced at Uesugi Sakura upon hearing the question and answered, "No, today I have a day off, though I don’t know if Sakura-kun is going."
Uesugi Sakura smiled and said, "I’m not going today either."
Kitagawa Sakisa mumbled, "I bet even if you had work today, you wouldn’t go~"
Uesugi Sakura: "Correct, but there’s no reward."
"Alright," Kyujuu Rika came over and said to the group, "let’s go, back to the research room, we can chat on the way."
"Aren’t we going to the cafeteria for lunch?" Uesugi Sakura asked.
"Cafeteria food is nothing compared to home-cooked! The school has a special art research room with all the facilities," said Kitagawa Sakisa.
"A kitchen?" Uesugi Sakura probed.
"Yes!" Kitagawa Sakisa crossed her arms confidently.
"It’s really amazing that the school has such a place." Uesugi Sakura found it hard to believe.
Kyujuu Rika explained, "It’s a place for graduate students to use, sometimes they focus on a project and won’t come out for a day or two, or even weeks. To cater to them, the research room usually has a simple kitchen facility so that they don’t starve themselves."
"Really?" Uesugi Sakura sensed there was more to her explanation.
"Actually, very few seniors use it often, so we just go there to relax when there’s nothing else to do."
The four of them reached the corner of the stairs and descended.
Kitagawa Sakisa interjected, "Why did you suddenly start attending classes here, Uesugi?"
"Well, life’s about taking on challenges, isn’t it?"
"Sounds like an excuse to me."
...
Upon arriving at the art research room, Kitagawa Sakisa collapsed onto the sofa.
Uesugi Sakura glanced around the room’s setup, utterly baffled.
This doesn’t look like an art research room at all!
It’s simply a private space for the girls.
There were flower pots, cushions, a heater, sofas, carpets, and even household items like a robotic vacuum cleaner!
There was even an enormous LCD TV in the middle, a white PS5 beside it, and a box of game discs nearby.
"..."
What kind of...art research room is this?
Uesugi Sakura walked outside to look up at the sign above the door, clearly reading "Painting Department Research Room" in big letters.
He went back inside, walked to the balcony, and peered outside.
The balcony was cramped but packed with potted greenery.
A bamboo stand held everything edible like peppers, tomatoes, green onions, chives, bean sprouts, with even some potted cabbages below.
Could it be...an agricultural school?
"..."
Merely looking around left Uesugi Sakura speechless, confirming further that this wasn’t a school art research room.
Not at all.
He looked around the setup again and asked the others:
"Did you girls buy all these?"
Kyujuu Rika pointed at Kitagawa Sakisa lounging on the sofa: "She bought all of it."
Uesugi Sakura glanced at her, certain she was someone with means.
"How did you manage this?"
"Easy, I just bought everything," she said.
"..."
Alright, you’re rich, your words count.
Hanamaru Hanabi was tying the strings of an apron behind her as she said to Uesugi Sakura, "Sakura-kun, sit on the sofa and play some games for a bit. Hanabi will get started on lunch."
"Need any help?" Uesugi Sakura asked.
"It’s fine, Rika is here to help Hanabi."
Kyujuu Rika, now in her apron, looked at Uesugi Sakura and said, "No need for your help. The kitchen here is too small; three people just get in each other’s way. You and Kitagawa relax and play some games."
