Kung Fu Baby with 17 Doting Brothers-Chapter 505: Mother and Son
Gu Jin has a wide range of interests. In the days since returning to Jiang City, she’s either drinking tea and playing chess with Gu Rui or gardening with Mu Xue, organizing movie outings with Gu Zheng and his wife, while always having soup brewing in the kitchen for Si Huai no matter when he comes home from work.
She loves her son and respects and supports his decisions but will never abandon her own dreams for him. She is herself first, and then a mother.
The day before leaving Jiang City, she went shopping with Mu Xue and took Tuanzi along.
The three of them went to the mall where Gu Jin generously bought Tuanzi a pile of clothes and then generously shopped for clothes and shoes for her son.
Tuanzi was stunned the whole time.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her aunt also looking surprised, so she quickly tugged on her aunt’s sleeve.
Mu Xue bent down cooperatively, "What’s up?"
The little hand pointed to a glamorous and generous-looking woman not far away.
"Is Aunt going to move this store out?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Mu Xue had never seen this shopping approach either.
Thinking it over, she found a suitable explanation, "You’re born to be clothes hangers. These clothes look good on you both, hard to choose, so we bought them all."
The little girl was almost convinced.
But she distinctly remembered Gu Qize’s shopping style.
"Is the nephew like the aunt?" she muttered softly.
The mall could deliver unified in the same city, so Gu Jin wouldn’t tire herself. After filling in the address, she took her sister-in-law and niece out shopping again, picking up small items if they happened to buy them.
Shopping from morning till the sunset, Tuanzi was too tired to move.
She looked down at her pitiful little short legs.
[Miaomiao: I’m so tired, more than practicing martial arts.]
[Ancient Martial System: Don’t you like shopping very much?]
[Miaomiao: But I’ve never shopped this long before!]
The Little Heroine had been defeated, looking up again at the aunt and Gu Jin, still enthusiastically planning to see the light show at night.
Tuanzi: "..."
At this moment, the three were waiting for the green light.
Right then, a car ignored the red light, rushed over from another direction, crashed into several waiting vehicles, and sped away.
Sirens blared.
Those drivers who were about to get angry quickly pulled their cars aside, making way for the police cars.
Several vehicles with sirens also sped past. These cars were ordinary models, not standard police cars.
The spectators instantly understood. This was likely a sudden situation during an undercover police operation, leading them to use sirens for tracking.
Tuanzi got excited upon seeing the bad guys; it was time for her to do justice again!
But just as she was about to jump up, her shoulder was held down.
Looking up, Mu Xue and Gu Jin did not approve of her joining the commotion.
At that moment, a ’bang’ sound came from not far away, like a violent collision of vehicles.
She quickly broke free from their hold and directly jumped onto a nearby street lamp to look out.
"That car earlier was stopped, several cars are crashed together!"
Tuanzi’s description wasn’t clear, but Gu Jin understood that the police had riskily stopped the suspect’s car.
"Ah, someone’s injured!"
Tuanzi shouted again.
Gu Jin’s heart suddenly leapt.
Seeing her face turn pale and somewhat unnerved, Mu Xue suggested, "How about going over to have a look?"
Given she has a son working as a detective, hearing related personnel injured understandably provokes many thoughts.
Who got hurt? Could it be my son? How serious is the injury?
The crashed cars weren’t far away, and the group made their way quickly.
Some pedestrians stopped to watch too and sighed when they saw the skewed car fronts, feeling nervous.
"This is so dangerous."
"No choice, if they hadn’t stopped him, the suspect would’ve run away. Plus, that suspect was crashing into things all along, eventually affecting innocents."
"Was the suspect caught?"
"Yes, they stuffed him into that car over there, you see it, the one that’s almost falling apart, probably being taken back to the police station."
Tuanzi and the group arrived right when these conversations took place.
They looked straight to the almost falling apart car.
The car was shakingly leaving.
Some undercover cops stayed behind, checking the escape vehicle, with evidence bags in hand.
Tuanzi swiftly scanned the area and found a familiar face.
"Cousin?"
Si Huai was leading the team in search, serious, unaffected by the surroundings.
Just from his expression, one might mistakenly think he’s fine. But upon closer inspection, his left hand hung unnaturally, possibly broken.
"You must go to the hospital if you’re injured!"
Tuanzi got anxious, quickly stepping forward, only to be pulled back by her collar. She looked up puzzled and saw Gu Jin’s tear-filled eyes, full of experiences, shrinking her neck in response.
"Don’t go, it will disturb his work."
Gu Jin knew her son’s stubbornness well.
Moreover, she understood her son absolutely did not want them to see him injured.
Tuanzi pursed her lips and remained silent.
A while later, the ambulance arrived.
An undercover officer with a previous leg injury was loaded into the vehicle.
Despite encouragement from others, Si Huai finally got on the vehicle to go to the hospital for a check-up.
As the door closed, Si Huai seemed aware, looking outside.
He only saw curious strangers.
Elsewhere.
Tuanzi, forced to hide, looked up again, first exchanging a glance with Mu Xue, then carefully asking Gu Jin, "Aunt, shall we go to the hospital?"
Gu Jin touched her head, "That might as well have been seen by him just now."
Furthermore, she was sure her son wouldn’t come home tonight, due to being busy and not wanting her to worry.
"Let’s go home, and I’ll show you my cooking skills, see what your aunt can do in the kitchen."
Tuanzi was still worried, feeling that pretending to be cheerful wasn’t good.
Back at Jiangshui, Gu Jin swiftly prepared the meal.
Tuanzi hovered around the kitchen door, taking deep breaths, catching the scent of pigeon soup and, sniffing again, the aroma of five-grain mountain yam porridge.
She focused on the rice cooker with some confusion, wasn’t rice cooked? How come there was both soup and porridge?
While eating, she also noticed sharply that there was no pigeon soup or five-grain mountain yam porridge on the table.
[Ancient Martial System: They’re probably prepared for Si Huai and his colleagues, given the amount, it could fill two barrels.]
Tuanzi didn’t know how to help release Aunt’s worries and inevitably felt troubled, eating less at dinner than usual.
[Ancient Martial System: Just do what you can.]
"Do what you can?"
Tuanzi pondered for a moment, hearing Gu Jin borrowing the car from Gu Rui, and volunteered, "Aunt, tonight Miaomiao’s a delivery person!"
Ten minutes later, a full Tuanzi, along with the second and third senior brothers, went to deliver food.
The next morning, after another filling meal, Tuanzi once again went to deliver food with the second and third senior brothers.
