King of Titans and Dragons-Chapter 40 - Tempting with Benefits
Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Tempting with Benefits
Chapter 40 -40 Tempting with Benefits
Dragons are incredibly greedy creatures, having a strong desire to possess anything shiny, valuable-looking, or truly valuable. This holds true for both benevolent and malevolent dragons.
Muria noticed it in himself due to his Golden Dragon lineage. He had developed a penchant for collecting all sorts of precious treasures, had constantly instructed the Tidal Giant who had pledged allegiance to him to search for treasures in the sea, and had never entertained the idea of ordering the giant to stop his search.
Muria realized the influence that this bloodline had on him but made no conscious effort to correct it, considering there were no adverse effects. Besides, his lust for treasures was not as intense as that of a True Dragon.
Driven by dragon greed, Muria devised a rather unscrupulous plan. For the Five Colored Dragons, he established magic arrays, instigated disciplinary measures, and correspondingly, he also established a reward system.
The key was that the rewards Muria used for the evil dragons were all depleted Magic Crystals, which were by-products of his magic array practice and partially the waste materials from the incubation array.
These Magic Crystals, devoid of any magic power, had practically no use for Muria. Aside from their appearances making them good ornaments, they were essentially useless.
But Muria didn’t need them. He had plenty of Magic Crystals. To him, those completely drained of magic power were truly waste.
However, when the little female dragon, Renata, transformed into a red-haired loli and came to him with the Magic Book he had given her, Muria first fulfilled his promise by taking her for a walk around the White Jade Divine Palace.
Then, under the watchful eyes of the little loli dragon, Muria, as if possessed, asked Renata what reward she wanted. As expected, Renata demanded treasures.
Under such circumstances, Muria shamelessly grabbed a handful of the discarded crystals he had piled up and handed them over to the little dragon.
Upon seeing the transparent crystals that were enough to pile up to her loli form, Renata was so overjoyed that she was dumbfounded. She then joyfully returned to her room with these shiny little beauties.
Renata getting so many crystals from Muria all of a sudden naturally aroused the curiosity of her dragon siblings. After pressuring Renata for the source of her crystals, they approached Muria together.
“If we learned the Shape-shifting Spell, would you reward us with as many crystals as you gave Renata?”
Muria was a bit baffled at the time, but he quickly caught on. The discarded crystals, which he regarded as chicken rickets, found a new purpose at that moment.
“Of course, not only the Shape-shifting Spell, but also other magic. Once you have learned it, I will give you corresponding rewards. As long as you are willing to learn, I am willing to give.”
That’s how Muria responded to the five young dragons at that time. All the young dragons, yearning for treasures, transformed into academic overlord dragons, spending day and night deciphering and memorizing spells.
Each time they successfully learned a spell, they would eagerly approach Muria. After successfully exhibiting the magic spell, Muria would grant them a reward corresponding to the magic they had learned, namely, different quantities of discarded crystals.
Inspired by these young dragons, Muria knew then how to educate the baby dragons. Enticing them with benefits was the best method. They could use the punishment array to control their behavior, forcefully suppressing their bad habits. As for education, the lure of benefits allowed these baby dragons to take the initiative to learn, like donkeys chasing after carrots.
Not only that, after each dragon had been awarded crystals for learning spells from him, he established another system.
Muria voluntarily assigned all the dragons spell learning tasks. Those who completed them within the stipulated time would be rewarded with crystals. However, if they failed to complete it within the time, they would not be punished physically or verbally, instead, they would be fined with crystals.
Under this system, even the least eager dragons started memorizing spells vigorously, striving to complete the tasks assigned by Muria within his specified time. Because, all dragons were greedy for wealth.
However, just like humans, learning varied even among the same dragon species. Some underachieving dragons, despite possessing extremely high elemental talents, took a long time to learn spells.
“Red Dragon, Klaeste.” After checking the spell learning tasks of the six young dragons, Muria began to inspect the tasks of the baby dragons. He pulled out a book with all the dragons’ true names and their spell learning statuses recorded in it.
“Here!” A red dragon with brilliant red scales lifted its head, extricated itself from the group of baby dragons, and walked up to Muria.
Muria glanced at him, then checked the book in his hand. After seeing the magic that this dragon had learned, he nodded, “Second-Circle Spells, Cat’s Grace.”
As Muria commanded, the baby dragon named Bertlein began to chant, in conjunction with the magic model that had been successfully built in his Sea of Spirits. A faint spell spirit light covered his body, making him seem much more agile in an instant.
“Run straight ahead, then come back.” Muria pointed to the opposite side of the training ground, instructing the baby dragon Bertlein. He wanted to see the effect of this baby dragon’s spellcasting.
The little red dragon said nothing. In a flash, he started running on all fours. After casting the enhancement spell on itself, it seemed to become as agile as an elegant, flexible cat.
Spotting a low obstacle, it leaped lightly and easily jumped over it. If the obstacle was too tall, it would, like a cat, jump on top of it, climb across it with its body perpendicular to the ground.
In just under five minutes, Muria watched as the little red dragon ran back and forth across the training ground with agility. Seeing the same dragon sitting in front of him, he nodded approvingly, “Your mastery of Cat’s Grace is not bad.”
“This is your reward.” According to his own rules, Muria took out twenty regular diamond-shaped transparent crystals and handed them to the baby dragon Bertlein.
Yet, the baby dragon Bertlein’s eyes sparkled upon seeing these essentially useless crystals. Overjoyed, it accepted the crystals from Muria’s hand and returned to its original position.
…
“Blue Dragon, Yadrien.”
“Second-Circle Spells, Electric Explosion Magic Ball.”
A ball of crackling lightning, following Muria’s instruction, was conjured by the Blue Dragon, Yadrien, and then it struck a giant tiger-shaped wooden target on the training ground.
“The lightning ball hit the wooden target. After a slight ‘crackle’ sound, there was a scorch mark on the wooden target.”
“Good, reward twenty crystals.”
…
“Blue Dragon, Odridge.”
“Second-Circle Spells, Flame Burst.”
After waiting for a while, Muria frowned at the Blue Dragon who was chanting dryly. He did not feel any Fire Elements gathering in the air.
“You did not master this spell on schedule, Odridge, according to the regulations, you need to pay a fine of twenty crystals.”
“No, give me some more time, I can definitely master this spell.” The young Blue Dragon let out a miserable howl, begging Muria. Paying a fine was too painful for the dragons.
“If you further resist paying the fine, it will double.” Muria looked coldly at the Blue Dragon. The time allowed for each dragon to learn a spell was very reasonable. As long as they did not slack off, they could complete it on time.
“I’ll pay!” The young Blue Dragon painfully took out twenty crystals from its storage space and handed them over to Muria.
“I will give you three more days. If you still haven’t mastered this spell, continue to pay the fine.” Muria recorded in his notebook and marked it. “In three days, even if you have learned the spell, there will be no reward, as you are already overtime.”
Hearing Muria’s words, the young Blue Dragon, Odridge, shivered in horror and despondently returned to his original position.
…
“Green Dragon, Cecil.”
“Second-Circle Spells, 2nd-Level Summon Monster.”
After that, four grunting short figures holding wooden sticks appeared in front of Muria following the Green Dragon’s summoning spell.
Muria frowned at the sight of these four trembling green-skinned dwarfs who were summoned and then lay on the ground in fear: “Goblins, why such things, disgusting.”
“Successful spell casting, reward twenty crystals.”
“Muria, wait, I have also mastered another Second-Circle Spell, I’ll show you.” The small green dragon did not accept the reward but looked at Muria triumphantly, eager to cast another spell.
“Ma Youfu Strong Acid Arrow.” Following the chanting of the small green dragon, four acid arrows appeared in the air. Then, aiming at the four goblins she had summoned, the four strong acid arrows ‘whizzed’ out, accurately hitting the four little green dwarfs.
The four goblins wailed as they were directly corroded into pus by the strong acid. Seeing this, the small green dragon showed a pleased expression. It’s normal for wicked dragons to derive pleasure from killing.

Muria frowned while watching this scene, but he didn’t say anything. It’s just the abuse and killing of a few chaotic evil goblins, which couldn’t be a reason to reprimand Cecil.
“Excellent, you have learned the Second-Circle Spells ahead of time. Reward thirty crystals.” Muria took out another thirty crystals and gave them to the small green dragon alongside the previous twenty.
Such a quantity of crystals made the young dragons behind her red with envy, but no dragon dared to snatch them. It was known that any dragon daring to snatch or steal another dragon’s property would not only be stripped of all its private possessions but would also “enjoy” a full-power punishment array for a full day.
…
“Black Dragon, Lorelei.”
“Second-Circle Spells, Swarm of Insects.”
After that, a small group of bats appeared along with the incantation of the small black dragon, Lorelei. She then looked nervously at Muria.
“The spell was successful, but the effect… Lorelei, are you joking, a bat swarm of only a single digits.” Muria reprimanded the Black Dragon.
“The poor spell effect indicates that you haven’t practiced enough, reward reduction. According to your spell effect, I’ll give you seven crystals.” Muria counted the number of bats in the swarm and gave away the reward.
“Muria, that’s too little, I still managed to cast successfully. Could you give me a little more?” The small Black Dragon tried to bargain with Muria for more crystals.
“Scram!” Muria glanced at the female Black Dragon, Lorelei, coldly spitting out a word.
“Oh.” Seeing Muria getting angry, the small black dragon quickly took the pitiful seven crystals and gave up her spot dejectedly.
