Chapter 204: Chapter 204 All for You

“Wow!” Adrian whistled as he eyed the incredibly tempting Monica, standing with her chest puffed out as if awaiting inspection. Before he could even speak, a bedroom door swung open, “Ed, I think you’d better take a look at—”
The sentence cut off abruptly, as Charlize, holding some documents, stood frozen, staring at the two people in the living room, utterly at a loss for words. Monica was equally taken aback to find someone else in Adrian’s room, and with a gasp, she reached to cover herself and grabbed for the trench coat on the floor.
But as she got a clear view of who was there, her movements slowed considerably. Monica slowly picked up the trench coat from the floor, and slowly put it on, deliberately turning her body as though showcasing something. And even though she had dressed, she merely tied the belt loosely, leaving most of herself exposed without even bothering to button up.
After she was done, Monica turned to Charlize, who was still in shock, and offered a slight smile, “Hi, Charli.”
She knew Adrian had hired a female secretary and assistant, and had met her a few times, so Charlize was no stranger. Now, just looking at her outfit—a white crop top that bared her midriff, and nothing but a pair of white panties that were somewhat transparent, the tempting aspects only hinted at—what did it imply when a woman appeared in front of a certain man dressed like this, unconcerned?
Charlize, standing in the doorway of her own bedroom, finally snapped out of it. She glanced at Adrian, then at Monica, a knowing and self-mocking expression fleeting across her face before she turned and slammed the door behind her, followed by the sound of locking it.
“Charli seems a bit agitated,” Adrian now spoke up, shrugging his shoulders without a hint of embarrassment.
“I think there shouldn’t be any women around you, especially pretty young women,” Monica said softly, looking at him, without any trace of dissatisfaction, as if it were all too normal.
“I must admit, this surprise truly is a surprise; you must have gone to a lot of trouble,” Adrian said, looking her over instead of responding to the topic. After Charlize returned to her bedroom, Monica once again loosened her belt, the mature and sexy contours of her body half-concealed, increasing the temptation.
“Of course, I was very careful not to be seen on the way here, so—” Monica’s eyes got a challenging look, “what are you waiting for, Ed?”
That was enough to spark off a fierce collision.
“It seems having a little time apart does have its benefits,” Adrian teased afterwards, his hand still caressing Monica’s delightful body. Foreplay caresses are important, and so are the ones after the deed; they make a woman feel that her lover cares about her, not just done and gone.
“Of course, you would say that; you’re never short of women, are you?” Monica propped herself up on one elbow and peered at Adrian in the faint light from the window. Although his vision was obscured by the backlight of the room, which was already dark, her bright eyes were very clear.
“What are you trying to say, Monica?” His fingers traced lightly across her cheek, then moved down to her neck and further to her collarbone.
“Ed, do you love me?” Monica asked after a long silence.
“Like and love are two different words, Monica,” Adrian skirted the question, “but sometimes they get mixed up. When you’re so attracted to someone that you want to have her, it doesn’t matter whether it’s like or love.”
“So is it more desire or more like?” Monica asked again.
“Love and desire have always been linked, like the you right now,” Adrian said with a smile.
“So…” Monica exhaled softly, “when I’m no longer sexy and beautiful, when I no longer shine and have aged considerably, will you still be by my side, taking my hand and holding me close?”
“I will,” Adrian replied without hesitation.
“Ed, you’re lying to me,” Monica said after a long look at him.
“No,” Adrian gently shook his head, “I admit, sometimes I’m an asshole, but I’m definitely not a liar. Remember that, Monica. I always keep my promises; that’s a man’s responsibility. I may flirt around, but I will never shirk my responsibilities.”
Monica was stunned for about two or three seconds, then she let out a quiet laugh, “You really are such a chauvinist.”
“Every man is. The difference is whether they can achieve it or not,” Adrian shrugged then slid his hand between her breasts and pressed there, “But there is a premise.”
The woman didn’t speak. She just stared unblinkingly at the man, who leaned over and gently breathed into her ear, “I want your heart, all of you, everything about you.”
“You really are insatiable, Ed,” Monica said in a soft non-committal voice.
“A little greed is good. Give me all of you, and I’ll give you everything you want,” Adrian gently sucked on her lips.
Monica gazed at him again for a long moment, then wrapped her arms around Adrian, closed her eyes, and murmured, “If you want it, take it.”
Adrian’s schedule had not changed because Monica had come to New York ahead of schedule. Even though they had been up late into the night and only slept for five hours, he was still full of vigor the next day, directing the shooting.
“You’ve already read the script many times, Gary. I won’t explain in detail again. Just bring out the crazed demeanor of Stan after he’s been drugged,” Adrian stood in the middle of the room and said to Oldman.
“No problem. I’m ready,” Oldman, in a beige suit, clapped his hands energetically. Although he was smiling now, everyone knew that as soon as Adrian called “Action,” he would instantly transform into the evil and crazed cop, Stan.
“How’s the props department doing?” Adrian raised his voice from the director’s chair, and since he didn’t address anyone specifically, no one answered for a moment.
Fortunately, Charlize’s voice followed promptly, “Everything is ready to go.”
At the same time, a chart was passed in front of him, “This is the layout. You can check it first.”
“Thanks, Charli,” Adrian smiled at her, but Charlize made no expression. After he took it, she immediately turned and walked away. Adrian just shrugged and didn’t say anything more, starting to check the layout as indicated.
“What’s this for?” Monica, who had been strolling around the set, came to Adrian’s side. Since she was in New York, how could she not visit the set? The night’s pleasures had left her radiant, attracting quite a few eyes. As for any potential issues that might arise, Adrian wasn’t concerned, and neither was she.
“Explosive device,” Adrian explained simply, “We’re about to shoot a shootout scene. Since we’re using blanks, we need to simulate bullet holes on the wall with synchronized explosions. These explosions have to be controlled within a certain range. It would be laughable if you used 5.5mm bullets and left 9mm bullet holes.”
“Okay. Even though I don’t understand all that, I do know not many people are going to notice the difference in bullet calibers and hole sizes, right?” Monica teased.
“That’s why I’m just taking a look, doing a little check,” Adrian laughed, sized Monica up and down, and said teasingly, “Nice outfit.”
Monica was still wearing the same loose trench coat from last night. Of course, this time there were other clothes underneath, so the trench coat was open in the middle, giving her an air of nonchalance. But the meaning behind Adrian’s comment was quite clear, so Monica just threw him a flirtatious glance and didn’t respond.
“Alright, guys, let’s get started,” Adrian called out after finishing the checks and coordinating with a few other teams. He clapped his hands and shouted.
They were now filming the scene where Stan and his men stormed Matilda’s home, initiating a massacre. The story of how Lyon met Matilda and saved her all happened in the same apartment building. Furthermore, since Oldman had captured Stan’s demeanor very well in the previous shots where he threatened Matilda’s father, Adrian decided to shoot the massacre scene first. The shots that showed Matilda’s life and family could be put on hold for now. After all, Natalie had just finished shooting the most important scenes brilliantly and deserved a good rest.
However, filming did not go smoothly. For example, when shooting the scene where Stan used Beethoven and Mozart to toy with Matilda’s father, and after killing everyone, he ordered one of the cops to stay behind to deal with other cops attracted by the gunfire—both scenes in the same setting—Adrian always felt something was off.
“Gary’s performance is spot on, and you guys are doing fine too, but I always feel like there’s something missing, like there’s something lacking in Stan,” Adrian told the actors.
“Maybe make me more neurotic? Larger movements?” suggested Oldman.
“No, no, no, not like that. I just think if your eyes were…” Adrian gestured then suddenly closed his mouth, looked at Oldman for several seconds, then suddenly turned and shouted, “Masterson, I need an important prop!”
