Keyboard Immortal-Chapter 2543: I’m Willing
Chapter 2543: I’m Willing
This chieftain is such a sly dog! As if I’d renege on my promise if he told me in advance. I can’t possibly torture the chieftain just because he’s unwilling to speak, right?
While Zu An was dumbstruck, the old chieftain had already called his clansmen over and tossed an artifact on the ground.
To Zu An’s bewilderment, the artifact was an orange, club-like object. No matter how I look at it... In’t this a carrot?
The carrot instantly grew many times until it became enormous. The Chang clansmen ushered Zu An and the Mermaid Queen onto it.
Judging from the formation pulsating from the carrot, Zu An could tell that it was a flying artifact. He suddenly recalled Yumen Beiqing and beckoned her over. “Little sister Ling’er, come here.”
But Yumen Beiqing had an awful expression. She stared at him coldly.
Zu An thought to himself that no woman wouldn’t be upset to see her lover marrying another woman. While they were in another world, it wouldn’t be good for there to be a conflict between them now. If they lost each other here, he would regret it for life.
So, he walked over and grabbed her hand. He was shocked by how cold it was. He quickly sent her a telepathic message, “Little sister Ling’er, this is just a temporary measure to resolve the current issue. Don’t pay it any mind.”
Yumen Beiqing scoffed, “Do you really have to be Yi?”
Zu An was taken aback. Held thought that she was angry because he was marrying Chang’e, but it turned out that she was angry because he was becoming Yi?
He thought about it and figured that she could just be finding another excuse to grumble about this issue, so as to not directly offend the Mermaid Queen. After all, he wouldn’t be able to marry the Mermaid Queen if he wasn’t Yi.
“Brother Yi died while helping me. I have to get to the bottom of Brother Yi’s murder, so I have no choice but to accept the chieftain’s request first,” he explained. At the same time, he was intrigued by Yumen Beiqing’s temperament. It’s unusual for the gentle little sister Ling’er to react in such a way.
Upon hearing his answer, Yumen Beiqing’s expression turned even colder, but she didn’t shake free of his grip and instead followed him onto the carrot.
The enlarged carrot had plenty of space for dozens of people. It was unknown how the chieftain controlled it, but it rose into the air and shot forth like a rocket. The people on the carrot didn’t even feel the wind blowing against them; it was extremely stable.
Zu An was amazed by the artifact-forging skills of the seemingly primitive Chang clan.
The old chieftain walked over and assessed Yumen Beiqing. “Our son-in-law, who is this lady?”
Quite a few youths also looked at Zu An with hostile gazes. ƒreewebɳovel.com
“She’s my little sister,” Zu An replied. A second later, he added, “As well as my lover.”
The youths initially sneered. What little sister? See how tightly you’re holding each other’s hands! There must be something more between the two of you.
Who could have thought that Zu An would admit their relationship outright? That further stoked their anger, and they complained, “Audacious! Why are you flirting with our Saintess when you already have other women?”
“Aren’t you being too greedy right now?!”
...
Looking at the surge of Rage points in his system, Zu An also felt distressed. It showed just how well-respected Chang’e was as the Chang clan’s Saintess.
The chieftain quickly raised his hand to stop the crowd. “Son-in-law, you are betrothed to our Saintess. I’m afraid you can’t get together with other women...”
Before the chieftain could finish speaking Zu An interjected, “Little sister Ling’er and I have mutual feelings for each other. I can’t do anything as heartless as abandoning her!”
His words further angered the Chang clan’s youths. Many roared for the engagement to be annulled, and in the blink of an eye, Zu An received over 100,000 Rage points.
Yumen Beiqing looked at the man standing in front of her calmly. Had it been in the past, she would probably be moved by his attitude, but now...
The Mermaid Queen stepped forward to stop the crowd. “Don’t put him in a tough spot! He knew big sister Ling’er first...”
She directed an apologetic glance at Yumen Beiqing. Even though she was very fond of big brother Zu, she knew she was the third wheel here. Ever since she first found out, she'd thought that there was no chance between her and big brother Zu anymore. She would already be very satisfied even if this was just a marriage in name only. She didn’t want to harm anyone else, and she didn’t want big brother Zu to misunderstand her too.
Seeing their beautiful Saintess protect Zu An made the Chang clan’s youths go mad with envy. Once again, they contributed another huge wave of Rage points.
The chieftain stepped forward to resolve the situation. “Hahaha, our son-in-law is indeed a sentimental person. I can only marry Chang’e off to someone as reliable as you!”
The other clansmen were flabbergasted. “But he already has another woman! How can he marry our Saintess on top of that?”
“It’s normal for a man to have multiple wives.” The chieftain was unfazed. “Don’t I have multiple wives too?”
The other clansmen couldn’t refute that, but some indignant ones argued, “Even so, our Saintess has to be the main wife! The other woman can only be the concubine!” They even directed a taunting look at Yumen Beiqing right after.
Yumen Beiqing sneered. Her killing intent started to flare.
The chieftain stepped forward to mediate. “What do you mean by main wife and concubine? It’s only natural to treat all wives the same!”
Seeing that some of the clansmen still wanted to stir up trouble, the old chieftain angrily hollered, “That’s a matter between them! They don’t need outsiders like you to worry about their affairs. Stop running your mouth here and focus on the upcoming wedding!”
The Chang clansmen were dumbfounded.
Zu An understood where the chieftain was coming from. His impersonation of Yi was a desperate attempt to save the Chang clan from doom. If this marriage was ruined, the chieftain wouldn’t be able to face his ancestors.
The ‘carrot’ flew extremely fast and soon arrived at the Chang clan manor.
Zu An looked at the Chang manor and was shocked by the fanfare beneath. There were red lanterns and congratulatory red papers plastered everywhere. He asked, “Has there been a joyous event in your clan recently?”
“What are you saying? It’s your wedding with Chang’e! Today is an auspicious day. There is no better time for you two to get married!” the chieftain said as he gleefully stroked his goatee.
Zu An was dumbfounded.
Yumen Beiqing was dumbstruck too. Why are they in such a hurry?
The Mermaid Queen’s face reddened. She secretly glanced at Zu An with a mix of embarrassment and nervousness.
Many youths who had a crush on her felt their hearts shattering into pieces.
The ‘carrot’ landed in the Changmanor. A large group of Chang clansmen rushed up to Zu An and the Mermaid Queen to escort them to private rooms and doll them up. Before they knew it, they were already wearing wedding outfits.
A pleasant harp melody drifted to Zu An’s room before turning into the Mermaid Queen’s voice. “Big brother Zu, please don’t feel burdened. We’re doing this to uncover the culprit. This isn’t a true marriage.”
The Mermaid Queen would have preferred to personally explain things to Zu An, but due to her history of escaping from the marriage, the Chang clan was more uptight than usual. Nearly all the Chang clan’s ladies were gathered in her room to doll her up; there was no chance for her to slip out at all. She could only play the harp to relay her words.
She was happy enough to have this wedding, even if it was all fake...
Zu An was initially hesitant, but after hearing the melancholic tinge and overwhelming feelings contained in the harp melody, he made up his mind. “Why should it be a mere show? If we’re going to marry, let’s make it the real thing. Or are you unwilling to marry me?”
“Ah?” Happiness came so fast that the Mermaid Queen’s mind was hurled into a tailspin. She wasn't a young, demure girl anymore, and she knew that she had to grasp the perhaps fleeting happiness presented to her. Thus, she replied, “I’m willing!”
They had kept a distance from each other because they were from different periods in spacetime and didn’t have a future together. But since they were both strangers to this world, she figured that they might as well have a passionate romance in this foreign world.
While their feelings were ripening, Yumen Beiqing stood on the rooftop, looking at the joyous atmosphere that had suffused the Chang clan. Her face darkened.
These damned people deserve to die!
