Keyboard Immortal-Chapter 2540: Vengeance
Chapter 2540: Vengeance
Zu An was perplexed too. “I also don’t know what’s going on...”
Yumen Beiqing quickly added, “You should try releasing it to see what it’s capable of. The divine halo is extremely important for those who have reached immortality. You can think of it as a special domain that ensures complete domination against those without it. Even among deities, those with a stronger divine halo can suppress those with a weaker one.”
Zu An took her advice and unleashed his divine halo. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet—his body was completely covered by seven-colored lights, so much so that it was impossible to make out his appearance.
Yumen Beiqing wanted to take a closer look when she and the Mermaid Queen suddenly disappeared in a flash.
Zu An frowned. He willed them to return. There was a flash of seven-colored light, and the two women returned to where they were.
The Mermaid Queen’s face gleamed with excitement. “I think I entered a seven-colored space earlier. I felt groggy, and I couldn’t move at all. Big brother Zu, how did you do it?”
In contrast, Yumen Beiqing looked horrified. Even though her guard was down, the thought that she could be so easily transported into another space chilled her heart.
“That could be the effect of my divine halo.” Zu An thought that this was similar to the effect of Master Kong Xuan’s Five-Colored Divine Halo in Investiture of the Gods[1]. So what’s the point of me having two more colors?
“You have a unique divine halo.” Yumen Beiqing seemed to have a lot on her mind.
“Little sister Ling’er, how do you know so much about deities?” Zu An was intrigued. Despite having become a deity himself, his understanding of deities was incomplete, yet the other party seemed to know far more than him.
Yumen Beiqing replied with a strained smile, “I learned about all these things through the Fiend races’ records, though I didn’t know whether they were true then.”
“I see.” Zu An thought that the records had to have been lost in time. He had never heard the future Fiend Empress mentioning them.
The Mermaid Queen widened her eyes in realization. No wonder the Saintess knows so much.
Zu An suddenly recalled something and exclaimed, “Oh no, Brother Yi was fighting with Gu earlier. I wonder what the situation on his side is.”
Yumen Beiqing looked conflicted. Zu An grabbed the two ladies and flew over to where Yi had been previously. A rainbow formed in his wake.
In the blink of an eye, they arrived where Yi and Gu had previously fought.
Zu An was stunned. How am I so fast? This distance should be beyond the limits of my instantaneous movement.
Yumen Beiqing was shocked. “Rainbow Morph!”
“What’s Rainbow Morph?” the Mermaid Queen asked in confusion.
“As its name suggests, it allows one to surge across the sky like a rainbow. This is a movement technique that only top powerhouses can pull off. It is exceptionally useful for escape.” Yumen Beiqing paused for a moment to stare at Zu An before adding, “But your earlier execution looks rough. If you master it fully, practically no one will be able to catch you.”
Zu An’s eyes lit up in delight. “I like this skill. I guess I’ll have to practice it more in the future.”
He eyed their surroundings before exclaiming, “Hm? Why don’t I see Brother Yi? That big snake is gone too.”
His tone was initially relaxed, but his expression slowly turned grim. Marks of Yi and Gu’s fight could be seen all around, from the collapsed trees to the blood splattered all over the mountain. Judging from the scales mixed into the blood, Zu An could deduce that Yi had claimed the upper hand in the battle.
But why did the battle suddenly halt?
Zu An stopped before a giant pit. The nearby trees were bent, and the nearby stones had been reduced to rubble. Marks of struggle could be seen on the ground. Judging from these clues, he could form a picture of what had happened then. Yi had to have been riding on Gu’s body, beating him up, but something suddenly happened that caused Yi to stop.
He soon moved to another spot in the distance. Heat lingered in the surroundings, and the nearby stones and dirt on the ground had crystallized. There had to have been an intense blast of heat earlier.
“Big brother Zu, did you notice something?” the Mermaid Queen walked up to Zu An and asked. frёeωebɳovel.com
“Brother Yi might be dead,” Zu An said grimly. As the lord of the underworld, he was extremely sensitive to death, and he could feel an aura of death looming. The vibrant fire ki lingering in the vicinity didn’t belong to Yi, so there had to have been a third party here.
Yumen Beiqing’s eyes widened. It went without saying that she knew what had happened here, but she hadn’t expected Zu An to be so sharp as to figure out the situation despite Dijun erasing his trail and destroying the corpse.
“Did you see anything earlier?” Zu An asked the two ladies. Earlier, he'd been focused on dealing with the heavenly tribulation, so he hadn’t had the energy to observe his surroundings.
“There was a ray of golden light here earlier, then a terrifying aura descended. However, it quickly disappeared afterward.” The Mermaid Queen felt apologetic that she wasn’t of much use. “I was too focused on you, so I didn’t pay attention to this place.”
Yumen Beiqing noticed Zu An’s gaze falling on her and replied, “It’s the same for me as well. I was too focused on you. We were also too far away to keep an eye on Yi.”
Had it been any other circumstance, she wouldn’t have minded exposing Dijun. Despite being a couple, the two of them were already estranged anyway. The problem was that she would risk exposing her true identity, and she was worried that Zu An’s wrath would implicate her sons along with Dijun...
All of a sudden, her face paled. Could that be the reason he shot the suns in history?
She tried to console herself. No no, that’s not right. Yi is already dead. History might have changed.
Zu An stared at the crystallized ground. A golden light. Strong fire ki. Capable of overpowering Yi. Could it be...
Seeing his contemplative look, Yumen Beiqing quickly interjected, “This matter should have nothing to do with us, and it might be good news too. The Mermaid Queen has taken the identity of the Chang clan’s Saintess, Chang’e, which means that she is betrothed to Yi. Now that things have unfolded the way they did, we don’t have to worry about that anymore.”
The Mermaid Queen frowned. “I don’t want to marry him, but I didn’t wish for his death either.”
“Indeed.” Zu An nodded. “Brother Yi intervened to save us. We're indebted to him. If not for him, I could have been the one to die here. I have to avenge him!”
“But how can we avenge him when we don’t even know who our enemy is?” the Mermaid Queen asked worriedly.
Zu An fell into deep thought. Behind him, Yumen Beiqing narrowed her eyes as the fingers hidden beneath her sleeves gradually turned sharp.
1. Kong Xuan had five different rays of light that would sweep his enemy into a void. ☜
