Keyboard Immortal-Chapter 2528: Fate
Chapter 2528: Fate
Bao Jiang was said to have white hair but a youthful face, but the severe injuries he had sustained made him look no different from an unkempt old man.
Seeing Bao Jiang’s shallow breathing, Zu An quickly took out a spirit medicine and fed it to him. It was a pity he had depleted his Feather Mountain Spring Water, and he didn’t know if the pills he had concocted in the future would work on a deity.
After swallowing the spirit medicine, Bao Jiang’s face regained some redness. His eyelids fluttered, and he weakly opened his eyes. “Did I just eat an immortal...”
Upon seeing Zu An’s group, he quickly stopped mid-sentence and asked, “You are?”
“Elder, we visited Treasure Origin Mountain under the Kaiming Six Shamans’ guidance to request a Brilliant Pinflower from you. However, we learned that someone was after your life, so we rushed over to aid you with the Goddess of Wu Mountain’s directions.” Zu An didn’t want to look so eager to claim credit, but Bao Jiang looked as if he would drop dead at any moment. They had worked so hard to save Xiaoxi, not hesitating to even travel across spacetime to gather the required materials. He didn’t even want to imagine what would happen if everything was in vain.
Those names brought some spirit back into Bao Jiang’s turbid eyes. He reached into his robe and took out a flower. “I harvested this flower a few days back. You may have it.”
Zu An looked at the flower; it had a glass-like transparency and resembled a pinflower. He didn’t need an introduction to know that this was what he was looking for.
After Zu An accepted the Brilliant Pinflower, Bao Jiang continued, “I have something I would like to ask of you, little brother...” He took out a gleaming golden pearl and passed it to Zu An. “Please hand this Divine Dragon Immortal Medicine to the Goddess of Wu Mountain. Have her entrust it to a fated someone to nurture it...”
Immortal medicine?
Yumen Beiqing and the Mermaid Queen looked at the golden pearl. Is this the legendary immortal medicine?
“The Divine Dragon Immortal Medicine!” Zu An shuddered.
No one was more familiar with the Divine Dragon Immortal Medicine than him. He had found one in the Tomb of Ten Thousand Dragons in the future and used it to save Qiu Honglei. Mi Li had told him that the immortal medicines in this world were unique. This Divine Dragon Immortal medicine had to be the seed of the one he encountered in the Tomb of Ten Thousand Dragons in the future.
Zu An suddenly felt as if he was trapped in the constructs of fate, and it made him feel helpless and fearful.
“Who’s behind your injuries?” Yumen Beiqing asked.
Bao Jiang shook his head with a smile. “Knowing too much will only put you in danger. I’ll be grateful to you if you can fulfill my final wish...”
In the end, his voice faded away.
Alarmed, Zu An quickly checked on Bao Jiang. Seconds later, he shook his head at the two women and said, “He has passed on.”
“We’re still too late. Gu got to him before us,” the Mermaid Queen remarked with a sigh. Zu An had already filled her in on the details along the way. Even though she wasn’t acquainted with Bao Jiang, she could tell that he was a kind person from how he didn’t want to put them in danger despite already being at death’s door.
“Who are you, woman? Why do you know my name?” an eerie voice echoed from afar.
Zu An and the others were startled.
They looked over and saw a giant snake coiled around a colossal tree. The upper half of his body was that of a young man with red hair that fluttered with the wind, resembling little serpents. His irises were yellow slits, and his forked tongue flicked out now and then. He looked terrifying.
Zu An’s complexion turned awful. Yu Yanluo must have monopolized the beautiful genes of the Snake race. Why do all other snakes look so amazingly hideous?
A massive, bizarre bird resembling an eagle-owl hybrid landed on a nearby branch. It had a white head, a black spotted body, a red beak, and tiger-like claws. No one would doubt that a single swipe of its claws could tear through even a flood dragon.
It overheard Gu’s question and answered, “Milord, this woman appears to be the Chang clan’s Saintess.”
“The most beautiful woman in the world, Chang’e? She is indeed beautiful, and the woman beside her doesn’t pale much in comparison either. Looks like today is my day!” Gu eyed Zu An and the others before bursting into laughter.
Yumen Beiqing’s expression turned cold. The Mermaid Queen hid behind Zu An in fear.
“You must be here for the immortal medicine. Here, you may have it.” Zu An tossed the golden pearl toward the distant mountain valley.
At the same time, he grabbed Yumen Beiqing and the Mermaid Queen’s hands and fled in the opposite direction using Grandgale, not hesitating in the slightest. He didn’t bother to talk things out with Gu, knowing that the latter would choose to silence them regardless of the situation. Not to mention, Gu had expressed interest in Yumen Beiqing and the Mermaid Queen. That made it even less likely for him to spare them.
The words ‘immortal medicine’ caught Gu’s attention. He lunged at the golden pearl at a lightning-fast speed that seemed impossible for his massive body. As soon as he caught the golden item, however, his smile suddenly stiffened.
It was an ordinary piece of gold.
“How dare they fool me?” Gu gritted his teeth and crushed the piece of gold into dust. “Qin, capture them!”
Zu An executed a series of instantaneous movements, causing the scenery to swiftly retreat behind him. However, he didn’t look relieved in the slightest. The bizarre bird, Qin, was heading in his direction, and its movements were even faster than his. The other party was likely a subordinate deity similar to Wei Yueyan; it would be foolish to think of him as a simple beast.
Grandgale had a cooldown time. Knowing none of them would get away at this rate, Zu An pushed the two ladies ahead and shouted, “You two leave first! I’ll find you later!”
He drew his Tai’e Sword, turned around, and unleashed a burst of sword ki at Qin.
Qin’s eyes narrowed at the sight of the massive outburst of sword ki. A divine halo consisting of red, white, and black light enveloped its claws, and it swiped at the incoming sword ki. The energy was torn to shreds.
Zu An was stunned. He had expected Qin would be a formidable opponent, but he hadn't thought the other party would be this powerful. In particular, the celestials’ divine halo appeared to have a suppression effect on all other living beings.
In the blink of an eye, the other party’s claws were already right in front of him. Space seemed to freeze before it—the other party was guarding against his instantaneous movement. No matter where Zu An dodged, he couldn’t escape the fate of having his head split apart.
