Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1506: All Coming Together (...1)
’Alright, kiddo, you’re going to be owing me a solid for this demonstration on how to better use [Chaos]. Let’s see if your muscle memory works even when unconscious like this.’
...Note that for the sake of clarity, all of the following actions will be referenced as if Anton were doing it, despite it being Zhen Liu’s body...
^So long, you metallic vultures,^ Convad declared before firing off his arrows.
Three aether-enhanced arrows flew forward at breakneck speeds before they began to suddenly and dramatically adjust their paths so that they would be perfectly aligned with the heads of the metallic zakos.
Clank! Clank!
CLANK!
The moment Convad fired his arrows, the metallic zakos in charge of extracting Bellona and Alicia immediately made moves to take defensive positions.
They could sense that their mediocre [Chaos] wasn’t going to be enough to tank the hits without dying, but it was going to be enough to at least mitigate most of its velocity. Granted, it was also possible that Convad’s arrows would cause them to explode and unwittingly release shrapnel and cause a fuckton of collateral damage...including fatally injuring the unconscious Alicia and Bellona.
Thankfully for their rusty metal asses, they weren’t going to find out how much damage their destroyed bodies would’ve done to unconscious fleshy ones.
^I wonder what kind of sound they’ll make when they—what the fuck, another interloper?!^
Moments before the aether-enhanced arrows could make contact and deal their damage, Anton appeared from off to the side and positioned himself between them and the zakos.
Once he was in position, Anton began to circulate [Chaos] in a rather strange manner. As the energy flowed around him, the shadow of a drunken god of fortune began to manifest around his body. At the same time, the [Godoku Gourd] hanging on his hip began to glow with strange runework.
[Chaos Art: Drunken Dance of the War God.]
After declaring the name of his technique, Anton began to move in a strange, flowing manner that made it appear as if he had caused reality to lag around him. His arms moved with such strange ease and speed that it appeared as if he were starting to manifest over a dozen more arms at once.
Surrounding Anton’s hands were bubbles of [Chaos] that smelled faintly of fruity sweet wine.
Using these bubbles of [Chaos], Anton managed to not only catch each of the arrows in one fluid motion but also empower them with [Chaos] before twisting about and firing them right back in Convad’s direction.
^What the fuck?!^
Convad’s shock wasn’t due to the fact that his arrows had been redirected.
There was this one superior of his in the Redoxa family household who was more than capable of performing such a feat, but that guy was an Aether Overlord.
This weird guy, dressed in a funny hat, appeared to be an Aether Lord!
Not only that, but he couldn’t sense what kind of energy this man had infused in these reversing arrows.
As such, when the arrows began to fly in weird, erratic patterns that seemed to emblem the unsure footsteps of a drunkard, Convad was flabbergasted. Such weird and slow movements should’ve been easy for him to track and deal with, and yet he couldn’t determine where any of these were going to land until it was too late.
However, this was the exact reason why Convad had Zarken around.
^Zarken!^
[Stone Wall of the Olmen!]
At Convad’s command, Zarken proceeded to use an Ethereal-Class aether art that summoned a wall of stone in the shape of a giant head and a pair of hands. This construct had blocked dozens of attacks before that were a thousand times more brutal than Convad’s arrows, so it should have been more than sufficient to protect them.
Emphasis on the word, "should".
Under normal circumstances, and with arrows infused with aether, the offending projectiles would’ve embedded themselves into Zarken’s wall and gotten subsequently destroyed. In the face of [Chaos]-infused arrows though, the results were less than ideal.
The arrows tore through Zarken’s defensive art in the same manner that an iron spoon would tear through tofu. Zarken and Convad were both shocked by this sudden failure, the former more so than the latter.
Zarken was a defense specialist, and this aether art of his was a signature move of sorts. Seeing it not only crumble but also get torn apart was somewhere between insulting and embarrassing. Especially when those aforementioned arrows proceeded to ignore Zarken’s [Regalia] and pierce right into his soft flesh.
"Urk!"
Zarken didn’t release screams of pain as the [Chaos]-infused arrows pierced his flesh, because he wasn’t in pain.
Instead, he was swaying as if he had just drunk three barrels’ worth of moonshine.
^Zarken, why are you swaying? None of my arrows were poisoned.^
^Not sure...feeling...woozy.^
^Oi, douche canoes. Maybe you shouldn’t take your eyes off of me, yeah?^
In the same moment he had reversed the arrows, Anton had decided to also close the gap between himself and the Redoxa warriors. As an ancient veteran of one too many wars, he knew better than to think a single counterattack was enough to secure victory.
Close-ranged like this, Convad immediately made use of his [Astra] to try and discern any form of weakness he could take advantage of in this situation. This wasn’t the first time he had been forced into a fight like this, and he knew damn well that regardless of how much of an advantage an attacker may have had in the moment, they would still showcase some modicum of weakness.
^Eye of—wait, what the fuck?!^
The moment he directed his gaze towards Anton, Convad found that his eye couldn’t detect a single weakness.
It wasn’t that Anton didn’t have any weaknesses; it was just the moment his eyes focused on the man, he saw nothing but static. Convad was so stunned by this revelation that he failed to react in time as Anton landed a heavy fist on his face and broke right through his [Regalia]. Evidently, the man had a glass jaw.
"Well, that was mildly disappointing," Anton commented as he sent Convad flying."I suppose he had a glass cannon build. Oh, speaking of builds..."
Zarken, the tank to Convad’s cannon, was still acting as if he had drunk enough alcohol to poison an elephant and was about to fall over at any moment.
To speed this process along, Anton performed a backwards sweep kick to knock Zarken off of his feet and grabbed the man’s torso in order to flip him and smash him into the ground. Coincidentally, or not, he had slammed the giant of a man into Convad at the exact moment the latter had landed on the ground.
Sickening crunches could be heard echoing in the distance as bone and flesh collided with one another.
"And that takes care of that."
Anton stretched his back and released a sigh of relaxation after handing the asses of those two Redoxa warriors. This was the first time in a while he had actually done any form of physical activity, so it felt oddly refreshing.
However, just as he was about to follow up his stretch with a well-deserved drink, he sensed something foul was coming towards him. To be more precise, he could feel it coming from directly below his feet.
"Well, that’s a nostalgic feeling..."
As the desire to confirm the icky feeling that was boiling in his gut, Anton dropped to the ground and placed his ear upon it in order to better hear what was causing that rumbling.
’Now what’s causing all of that...uh oh.’
Whatever Anton heard at this moment, it made the confident look on his face drop like a ton of bricks.
’Okay...time to run and grab the others. Hopefully they’re already making way to the workshop...’
...Wait, what about Jinju Ren and Lythero?(Note the following happened at the same time as above)...
"Okay, looks like there are two of them and two of us. I’ll take the big guy, you take the—"
ZOOM!
Before Jinju Ren could finish sharing her plan with Anton, the spirit possessing her fiancé’s body proceeded to rush forward like a berserker who smelled blood in the air. Needless to say, she was rather annoyed by this sudden action.
"Hey! Running ahead like that is very rude!"
Jinju Ren wasn’t normally one to care about etiquette, but something about Anton rubbed her the wrong way.
She was just about to make her displeasure known, until she noticed the airborne Lythero. Not wanting to deal with any more collateral damage, nor create any more opportunities for others to take advantage of their injured state, Jinju Ren proceeded to leap into the air and catch the flying swordsman.
She let out a small "oof" as Lythero landed in her arms.
"Thanks for the save, Princess," Lythero said as he finally had an opportunity to stop his head from spinning.
"Don’t mention it," Jinju Ren replied as she landed on the ground. "Now, would you mind explaining—"
BOOM!
Before Jinju Ren could even finish asking her question, a giant upward explosion of energy cut her off. Both her and Lythero stared at the pillar in disbelief, while a shared question began to form in their minds.
"..."
"..."
"You think that’s related to us?"
"Probably."
