Just Twilight-Chapter 75
Junyoung and Kwon Beomjin checked into a hotel after the police investigation. They checked out a little after noon and immediately headed to a nearby Korean restaurant for lunch.
What exactly happened at the Busan site was unclear, but it had been determined that the incident was not an accident but an intentional assault. Junyoung had almost fallen from the fourth floor. If Beomjin hadn’t shown up in time, she could have been seriously injured.
...It would’ve been better if she had just fallen.
Staring into the darkness, Seungwoon reached for the bottle of liquor beside him. As he took a swig, half of it spilled down his chin and onto his bare chest.
The bottle was empty now. His bleary eyes drifted toward the ceiling, but the same images that had been tormenting him for days replayed in his mind.
How long had they done it? What did they say to each other? How had Junyoung’s hands moved? Her eyes—had they burned with desire? Had she moaned when their bodies collided, when she was completely consumed by pleasure? Had she trembled, writhing under him?
That was what drove him insane.
He couldn’t imagine it.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t picture the sounds Junyoung made in bed. The sticky, breathless noises women unconsciously let slip when lost in ecstasy—
He had been by her side for over ten years, but the Junyoung he knew had a voice that made such images impossible.
Her voice was always the same. Flat, indifferent, laced with an undercurrent of detachment.
He had heard that Junyoung had returned to Seoul.
His plan had been to wait outside her apartment after work.
He couldn’t endure this any longer.
But then, the shadow of Kwon Beomjin loomed over him, pinning him down inside his own mind.
Kwon Beomjin was a plague. A parasite. A rot that blackened everything around it. A festering pile of garbage, spewing filth.
Junyoung was blind right now.
She was lost in nostalgia, trapped in the memories of their childhood.
Everyone made mistakes.
She was smart—sooner or later, she would realize where she belonged.
But how long would that take?
Suddenly, his breathing turned shallow.
His chest tightened.
Seungwoon gasped for air, his entire body trembling. He grabbed the empty bottle and hurled it.
Glass shattered against the wall, but the violent sound did nothing to ease his turmoil.
No, no—maybe Junyoung was angry.
Maybe she was resenting him for marrying Jang Sera so easily.
She might be testing him.
Then he had to tell her.
That this marriage with Sera—everything—was for her.
That he was doing this to keep her from straying too far.
To keep her safe within his grasp.
To protect her.
“Why—why does it have to be him? Why? Why?”
His voice cracked as he screamed into the silence, his body convulsing with rage.
It had always been like this.
Back then, he was the one who had smiled at her, who had tried to get close.
But Junyoung had chosen Kwon Beomjin.
That blunt, violent bastard.
And now, as adults, Beomjin was exactly the same.
Still harsh. Still rough. Still dangerous.
…Is that why?
Was Junyoung attracted to that?
Would he have to become that?
A delirious laugh spilled from his lips as he swayed on his feet.
The room spun around him.
His knees buckled, and he collapsed onto the couch.
He was so far gone that he didn’t even notice someone entering the apartment.
“Young Master.”
The voice was controlled, but the underlying horror was unmistakable.
Seungwoon barely turned his head, eyes rolling toward the doorway.
The bright sensor light cast a long shadow across the room.
Kim, his mother’s trusted secretary, was a woman who rarely reacted to anything. But even she seemed rattled at the sight of him—naked, sprawled in the darkness.
She spoke carefully.
“You requested to personally review the shareholder status report and the post-meeting strategy. The Madam has sent them.”
The light flickered off, plunging the room back into darkness.
Kim moved to turn the switch on, hesitated, then groped the wall for balance before disappearing briefly.
Seungwoon continued staring blankly at the ceiling.
When the light returned, something soft landed over him.
A blanket.
“I’ll clean up the broken glass first.”
“Hah… the shareholder report? Oh, right. That.”
Sluggishly, he sat up, draping the blanket over himself.
Kim set the documents on the table. Her gaze flickered toward the scattered photographs—but she said nothing.
Instead, she crouched down and began sweeping up the shards of glass.
Seungwoon let out a humorless chuckle and picked up the documents.
Flipping through the pages, he suddenly laughed aloud.
“JBK Financial is good. No—Kwon Beomjin is good. This was all him, right? Sneaking the shares under Chairman Hong Inseop’s nose?”
He shook his head, clicking his tongue.
“This means there’s no issue with me becoming a director.”
Kim looked like she wanted to say something but remained silent.
Seungwoon turned his gaze to her.
“If I hand these over to the police, will they arrest Kwon Beomjin?”
“…What?”
Kim’s eyes widened in shock.
Seungwoon smirked, waving the documents.
“This is proof that shares were acquired through a proxy. If they trace the dirty money back to its source, wouldn’t they be able to throw that bastard in prison?”
Kim, who had been watching his drunken ramblings in silence, finally frowned.
A sigh slipped between her lips.
“Before that happens, Young Master, both you and Director Hong Mihyang will be summoned first. And Chairman Hong Inseop won’t sit back and do nothing. He might decide it’s easier to make you disappear. And file a missing person’s report.”
Her disgust was palpable.
She clicked her tongue, raising an eyebrow.
“How long do you plan to let these childish emotions control you? You told the Madam you wanted to be her strength. I thought you had finally come to your senses. But now you’re spouting this nonsense over Yoon Junyoung—?”
Kim never got to finish.
Seungwoon lunged, slamming her against the wall.
She gasped in pain.
His fingers dug into her jaw, forcing her face upward.
His grip was so tight it felt like her skull might crack.
“You’re the pathetic one, Kim.”
His voice was low, dangerous.
“You waltz into my home after treating me like a fucking whore—what, just because I let you off with a few slaps? You think I’m easy? Huh?”
Kim gritted her teeth, struggling to push his wrist away.
He didn’t budge.
His narrowed eyes glowed with a venomous, unrelenting rage.
“If you hadn’t set up this disgusting game in the first place, none of this would’ve happened. A dog should just wag its tail and obey its master. So why the fuck did you touch me? Why did you use me? Why?”
Kim’s body tensed.
She stopped struggling.
Her gaze turned cold.
She spoke quietly.
“Was it forced?”
“…What?”
“Our arrangement was a transaction.”
She stared at him, unfazed.
“Unexpected things happened. But I never broke my end of the deal. If you don’t get what you want, blaming others won’t change anything.”
Seungwoon’s jaw twitched violently.
But Kim remained composed.
“Going forward, you and I will never do business together again.”
