Chapter 45 - 39 She Who Must Not Be Named !!! Escapes!
Kaori Itadori paused slightly, then quickly masked her reaction with a surprised smile. "Murder scene? Has there been a murder in this apartment? I just came to visit a friend who lives here, but she doesn't seem to be home tonight."
She offered a polite, gentle smile and added mysteriously, "When I arrived, the whole building felt... empty."
At that moment, Geto Suguru hurried over, his eyes narrowing in surprise when he spotted her. "Dr. Itadori? What are you doing here?"
Kaori tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled. "I just ran into your friend a moment ago. Like I said, I came to see someone, but no one seems to be around."
While Kaori had suspected that Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru might also be sorcerers—how else could they be here?—she lacked Gojo's memory from their last encounter. Still, she was confident her disguise was flawless enough to fool the two teenagers.
Unfortunately for her, Gojo Satoru was already out of patience. Without bothering to entertain further conversation, he pointed sharply toward the apartment building. "I felt the residual trace of your curse upstairs. You killed that boy and the two cops!"
Kaori froze, stunned. She knew she wasn't a saint—but the murders upstairs had nothing to do with her. Her actual reason for being here was to meet a boy who could spread curses via the internet. With his help, her plans would have been much easier to execute.
But by the time Kaori arrived, the boy and the police officers were already dead. She had barely managed to escape detection by hiding on a neighboring balcony when Gojo and Geto stormed into the building.
"I... What are you talking about? What cursed energy?" Kaori tilted her head slightly, feigning wide-eyed innocence. "Wait—two police officers are dead? That explains why the place was deserted. Was everyone evacuated?"
"Satoru, are you sure?" Geto's voice held a note of skepticism. "Why would Dr. Itadori kill a random boy and two officers? It doesn't make sense."
Gojo clutched his chest dramatically, his lips curling into a pout. "Geto! Don't you trust me? You always say my Six Eyes never make mistakes! You're breaking my heart here."
Pressing a hand to his forehead, Geto exhaled. "I'm just saying there could be another explanation." He turned back to Kaori. "Have you come into contact with anyone unusual lately, Dr. Itadori?"
Kaori's mind raced. Lies were risky—easier to play dumb. She pretended to think for a moment, then shook her head slowly.
Gojo, meanwhile, had no intention of letting the matter drop. Until now, he had held back to avoid straining things with Geto. But with this perfect excuse, he wasn't about to let it go.
"Hollow Technique: Purple!" His fingers curled together into a precise formation.
Geto's stomach twisted with alarm. "Satoru—wait!" But it was too late.
A massive surge of energy condensed in the air. Opposing forces—one black, one white—swirled violently before colliding into a devastating blast.
Boom!
The explosion shattered the night.
Luckily, Geto had quick reflexes. At the last second, he summoned the Rainbow Dragon, a massive serpentine cursed spirit. He leapt onto its back as the ground beneath the apartment crumbled into a yawning chasm.
As the dust settled, Gojo floated effortlessly in mid-air, his blindfold still off. Beneath him lay a crater over a hundred meters wide. The road itself cracked from the force, but at least the destruction hadn't spread across the city—thanks to his careful control.
Seated on the Rainbow Dragon, Geto sighed in relief. At least the assistant supervisor had already recorded the event. Tokyo's crowded districts didn't handle explosions well.
A sudden, chilling roar echoed through the air.
"Satoru..." Geto hesitated, tugging at Gojo's sleeve. "How did she escape?"
Gojo tilted his head slightly, his pale lashes fluttering as he squinted into the crater. "Good question."
If Kaori Itadori was just a regular person, there was no way she could've survived. Yet, she had vanished without a trace.
"Are you sure you felt her cursed energy?" Geto asked quietly.
"Nah, I was bluffing." Gojo's lips twitched into a smirk. "But she's been here. I can tell."
Geto frowned, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Who is Dr. Itadori? And why was she meeting that boy?"
"Don't care," Gojo said breezily, stretching out on the Rainbow Dragon's back. "I just know she's up to no good."
"And no, we're not taking the Rainbow Dragon home," Geto snapped, retracting the cursed spirit into the black void behind him. "Flying a giant dragon through Tokyo is too conspicuous."
"Geez, buzzkill," Gojo huffed, narrowly catching himself as the dragon disappeared. "I almost fell. This is worth, like... twenty egg puddings in compensation."
Rolling his eyes, Geto pushed his bangs aside and started walking away. Gojo, grumbling under his breath, trailed after him.
As they emerged from the debris, Tomie Kento—one of their supervisors—hurried over.

"Gojo-sama," he began, his gaze darting toward Gojo's exposed eyes. "Have you neutralized the special-grade curse?"
Gojo, sliding his blindfold back on, nodded solemnly. "Yeah. It was fully hatched by the time we arrived, so I had to use a big move. Sorry about the mess."
Tomie glanced at Geto for confirmation.
Geto, as expressionless as ever, gave a small nod. "It's true. Also, leave me out of the report—I was just a bystander."
After a brief pause, Tomie exhaled. "Understood."
Satisfied, Gojo draped an arm casually over Geto's shoulders. "Anyway, I've decided. I want edamame daifuku tonight. And you're making it, Geto."
"Absolutely not," Geto muttered, shrugging off Gojo's arm and walking ahead, leaving Gojo to sulk behind him.
