Joyful Motherhood in a Rural Family-Chapter 888 - Action!
Chapter 888 -888 Action!
“Sister-in-law, your analysis is indeed good,”
Zhang Peng thought for a moment before stretching out his hand and pointing below, “There’s no problem with everything you just mentioned. However, charging down the slope from this small grove and reaching the bottom, the distance in between is at least over thirty feet. Furthermore, the location of the enemy’s grain and grass is even farther from here, at least fifty feet away. As soon as we rush out of the small grove, I’m afraid we’ll be discovered before we even make it down the slope.”
“The issue that Brother Zhang just mentioned, I’ve considered it too. The problem isn’t hard to solve, it just means that we’ll have to send two brothers out again.”
“Out again? You mean to capture another ‘spy’?” Zhang Peng instinctively thought of the two spies they had previously caught.
“Almost, but this time it’s different, I’ll explain to you…”
Liu Sisi lowered her head and explained in a low voice for a moment, making Zhang Peng and Qi Yuanzheng nod in agreement repeatedly.
“Don’t worry, sister-in-law, leave this to us. We will certainly succeed,”
While Zhang Peng spoke, he turned to arrange his men.
Liu Sisi looked up at the sky; it was about to get dark soon.
“Nobody sit idle, we have a tough battle to fight tonight. Everyone take out your grains and eat your fill, there won’t be a chance to eat later.”
Liu Sisi watched everyone, her gaze sweeping over each of the trusted soldiers: “After eating, remember to pack up your items, especially the weapons that can save your life, don’t miss any.”
Seeing that everyone quickly got into action, eating and organizing their items, Liu Sisi also turned and walked to the side, casually picking up a set of clothes previously stripped from the two “spies” and entered the makeshift “restroom.”
Her female garments were inconvenient for movement, and this long purple mink fur cloak would make her an obvious target amidst the crowd.
She untied the big cloak and, with great speed, took off the female skirt. She then picked up the set of men’s clothes and began to put them on.
The clothing was very loose, nearly enveloping her twice over. The sleeves were much too long, but instead of rolling them up, she tightened the cuffs and casually tore a piece from the hem of the shirt. She then tied it into a cloth strip and used it to bind the legs. The trousers were also too long, and even after rolling them up, she carefully tied them with cloth strips. After moving around to check the fit, she felt it was much easier to run and jump than in a skirt.
She let down her hair and put away all items like hairpins, hair clasps, and earrings, stuffing them into her arms. Then she tied her long hair on top of her head and put on a hat. After checking herself over and seeing her embroidered shoes at her feet, the delicate shoes with golden thread and satin still recognizable despite the long journey, she made a tough decision.
She glanced at the large men’s shoes on the ground and then at her own small feet. Biting the bullet and hardening her heart, she picked up the clothes and turned out of the “restroom,” casually starting to dig a hole. She didn’t dig too deep, just enough for an adult. She then threw in the purple mink fur cloak she had taken off and began covering it with soil.
Finally, she picked up some accumulated snow from beside her and buried the hole anew, until it appeared no different from the surrounding area. Then she grabbed a handful of dark mud from the grove and vigorously smeared it on her embroidered shoes.
Liu Sisi’s actions naturally caught everyone’s attention.
Qi Yuanzheng couldn’t help but nod in approval seeing Liu Sisi dressed in men’s clothes.
One who knows what to keep and what to discard is the one who can achieve great things!
What’s most commendable is she did everything spontaneously, without anyone asking her to.
Only when the embroidered shoes could no longer be recognized for their original color did Liu Sisi casually grab a handful of snow and stood up, vigorously rubbing the lingering mud off her hands.
At the moment, everyone had finished eating and packing, and they were just waiting for the people who had gone out to return.
Qi Yuanzheng hastily handed over a piece of steamed cornbread, “Princess, you should also eat some coarse cereals to fill your stomach. They will definitely be back soon.”
Liu Sisi said nothing, silently taking the cornbread and, mimicking everyone else’s movements, began eating it with the snow.
Not long after, Zhang Peng and the other two men returned, all three of them wearing pleased expressions.
“Sister-in-law! Your strategy is truly effective. Now, with almost one set of enemy clothes per person, if we wear these clothes and go down the slope, we will surely buy everyone the time of a pot of tea,” he said.
With these words, smiles appeared on everyone’s faces.
The time for a pot of tea may seem brief, but at a critical juncture of life and death, every second is of utmost importance. Having the time of a pot of tea gave everyone a bit more confidence in their hearts.
“You have no idea, we followed the Princess’s instructions and sneaked over from the other side of the hill to that… ‘toilet’. Sure enough, just as the Princess anticipated, these men started heading straight there after eating. We targeted those who were alone and quickly gathered a full set of clothes. Look! All of this is here!”
The man took out the items of clothing he was holding and started distributing them to everyone.

Unable to contain their excitement, everyone took a set and happily put them on.
Liu Sisi, however, was not as joyous as they were, “Hurry up! The enemy will soon notice the sudden disappearance of so many people and will likely descend into chaos. Then they will become alert. We need to take advantage of their unawareness and catch them by surprise!”
Her words made the smiles disappear from everyone’s faces, and they hastily and clumsily dressed themselves. Soon, they were ready to go.
Zhang Peng looked deeply at Liu Sisi, indeed not expecting that Liu Sisi, a married woman who hardly stepped outside, could possess such insight.
“Let’s go! Stick to the plan arranged beforehand, and set out under the cover of darkness!”
At the moment, evening had set in, and the snow not only showed no sign of stopping, it was actually getting heavier.
Everyone quickly divided into two groups, one led by Qi Yuanzheng, advancing from the left side to burn the enemy’s grain and grass. Another was led by Zhang Peng to burn the enemy’s tents. Liu Sisi followed closely by Zhang Peng’s side, not taking a step away as she moved forward.
Both groups of horsemen advanced quickly, pushing forward dozens of feet without the enemy noticing anything amiss.
But the troublesome slope was just ahead. Upon reaching this point, instead of slowing down, the group directly slid down the slope. The slippery surface was even faster than a slide, and the people in front were obviously unable to stand firm and tumbled down. Those who followed learned their lesson and slid down along the edge.
When it was Liu Sisi’s turn, she hesitated as she looked at the steep slope.
“How could it be… so high!”
Previously, from the top looking down, it did not seem very high; but now, standing at the edge of the slope, she realized the height and steepness were astonishingly great.
“Don’t be afraid, sister-in-law! We will all be alongside to protect you!” Zhang Peng said earnestly.
While the two talked, the enemy below finally noticed something amiss and immediately began shouting.
“Who’s there? Who is up there? The password! The password!”
