Guide To Train My Beast Husbands-Chapter 321: Maelshark
"Hah!" Shao Xia stumbled across the forest. She felt like she had twisted both of her feet. She looked down at her feet that were shivering and trembling as if she had run for hours. She couldn’t understand what was going on.
Why was she feeling so disoriented? Shao Xia raised her hand and tried to recall what she had done, but unfortunately, she couldn’t remember a thing! She was sure that she had come to the forest to pretend that she was looking for Ruan Chanchan, as she didn’t want Chief Xie to doubt her. They already suspected that she was behind Ruan Chanchan’s disappearance and even interrogated her, but Shao Xia had been calm throughout the conversation because she had long prepared.
Thus, even when the chief grilled her with her questions, Shao Xia calmly responded and even pushed forth the alibi to make sure that no one would suspect her.
After she had cleared up the suspicion, Shao Xia went around the tribe pretending to look for Ruan Chanchan–that was all she could remember. Other than that, she couldn’t remember anything. It was as if she were knocked unconscious, but Shao Xia had a feeling that she was very much awake! She raised her hand and pinched the space between her brows before muttering to herself, "Just what in the world is going on with me?" These days, the span of her memory turning fuzzy had started to get longer and longer.
You do not have to worry; in your journey to become the strongest totem warrior, things like these will only become even more frequent. You need to be prepared for even worse things.
Shao Xia had a feeling that there was something wrong with what the shadow was saying to her, but she couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong. She raised her hand and touched her forehead, only to find it covered with sweat. And that too with cold sweat.
"Just what was going on?" she mumbled.
While Shao Xia was trying to figure out the reason for her sudden blackouts, Ruan Chanchan woke up from her nap. When she woke up, she realised that she was feeling a bit better. She was still feeling a bit sore and languid, but at least she didn’t feel like she had been run over by a bus.
Ruan Chanchan slowly got to her feet and then walked out of the cave. Given that it was already morning, the chill had gotten a bit better. At least it was no longer as cold as it was in the night. She took off the jacket and threw it back into the space with a whoosh. The heating pads had stopped working as well, and Ruan Chanchan threw them along with the jacket to recycle them.
"Miss Ruan."
The little mer who had come to look for her yesterday was standing at the steep path leading to the cave where she was staying for the time being. Ruan Chanchan smiled at the little mer and nodded at him, "It seems like you woke up early."
The little mer nodded. He looked a bit surprised by the smile that Ruan Chanchan flashed him. He nervously tugged on the beast-skin skirt that he was wearing and said to Ruan Chanchan, "I have brought you something to eat. His Highness said that you need something in your stomach for you to heal better."
Now, Ruan Chanchan was used to eating a lot of weird things, but compared to the fishy delight in front of her, which made her head buzz, Ruan Chanchan realised that she had surely underestimated the food in the beast world. She had to swallow again and again to make sure that she would not throw up in front of the mer.
The poor thing had arranged something for her to eat, and she didn’t want to come out as ungrateful. She could only suppress her nausea and say, "Thank you."
The little mer’s eyes lit up, and he hurriedly walked inside the cave before setting down the stone slab that he had brought with him. He placed it on the floor and said to Ruan Chanchan, "I am going to leave you to finish your breakfast. Once you are done, you can call me. I will be right outside, okay, Miss Ruan?"
Ruan Chanchan nodded and watched the mer walk out of the cave. Once the mer was gone, she sat down on the floor and looked at the horrible feast in front of her. If she didn’t know any better, she would have thought that these people were trying to chase her out of their tribe. Fortunately, she knew that it was not the case.
She closed her eyes and tried to uplift her mood. Okay, so what if the thing in front of her resembled the carcass of the godzilla? The good thing was that all of it was seafood, and if she could work out what resembled what closely, then maybe she would be able to cook something halfway decent. So with that thought, Ruan Chanchan picked up what looked like the most reasonable piece of meat.
[ Ding.]
[Scanning Finished.]
[Meat procured from: Maelshark. Found in the deepest whirlpool. Half seahorse and half shark. The meat obtained from it is really nutritious.]
Shark? Ruan Chanchan pursed her lips. Well, shark meat was indeed quite nutritious. Even though it was part seahorse, Ruan Chanchan decided to cook it like usual shark meat. She was, of course, so poor that she never got a chance to cook shark meat, but Ruan Chanchan knew the basics.
So, first she removed the glowing veins that shimmered like teal and then took out the salt from her supermarket and rubbed the salt on the meat along with the chilli pepper and garlic paste that she had just unlocked.
Maybe I should leave it marinated for another fifteen minutes. Ruan Chanchan thought and placed the meat to one side. After she was done dealing with the less terrifying meat, she turned her attention to the one that scared the life out of her. The moving blob of dark red flesh.
