Journey to the West: Treasure Vase of the Great Dao-Chapter 402 - 179 Illusory Flowers Reflective Moon
It didn’t take long before a blue aura had completely inundated Monkey’s inner world. At this moment, he felt as if the connection between himself and his inner world had been severed, and it was incredibly obscure.
He asked, somewhat surprised, "What power is this?" Ever since his breakthrough to the Five Qi Toward the Origin, he hadn’t used his inner world often, but it had always been effective. Who would have thought that today, he would unexpectedly capsize in a gutter?
"This is the power of rules and authority," Bajie suddenly said. He had recognized what exactly the nature of this power was at this moment.
"Just who are you, to toy with me like this?" Monkey asked through gritted teeth.
The figures of Elder Eighteen and other demons slowly materialized out of the space, all wearing strange smiles on their faces.
"You will learn of my identity, but for now, it’s best you concentrate on battling me," Elder Eighteen said blandly.
A fierce fighting spirit suddenly appeared in Monkey’s eyes. He stared intently at Elder Eighteen, sneering, "Fine, fine, fine, you’ve forced this upon me."
At this moment, Monkey’s aura became restrained. There wasn’t the slightest fluctuation of mana around his body, a clear sign of extremely high proficiency in controlling his own mana.
However, this was just the calm before the storm. Everyone held their breath and concentrated, knowing the Monkey was about to reveal his strongest state.
Suddenly, intense golden light burst forth from his frail and thin body. The light, shining all around with a formidable might, was so dazzling that it was impossible to keep one’s eyes open.
Monkey, now full of fighting spirit, displayed an astonishing presence. Dark fissures seemed to appear in the space around him, but they were quickly mended by ripples of blue water, preventing any damage to the surrounding space.
With focused eyes, he looked around at the blue space, aware that he had to shatter this realm to defeat his opponent.
The Jingu Bang, too, was glowing radiantly. Suddenly, Monkey moved. In just the blink of an eye, he vanished from everyone’s sight. His speed had reached its extreme, surpassing what the naked eye could detect. This was followed by a loud noise that swept the area, causing Bajie and others to cover their ears involuntarily.
The entire space began to shake violently. Cracks in the space appeared everywhere, but the blue aura covered the whole area, mending the cracks, thus preventing major destruction.
But it was then that Monkey found the core of this space. He laughed loudly, "So it’s here!"
No sooner had his words fallen did he flash into position, lifting the Jingu Bang and smashing it into the void.
With a clang, ripples spread through the space, and soon after, a Treasure Vase appeared in place of the void. The vase was adorned with a boundless ocean, and the sun, moon, and stars.
"The Great Dao Treasure Vase!" Monkey exclaimed. He was no stranger to this life-treasure that Lu Yu had cultivated.
The Treasure Vase was now glowing with a blue light, and a massive pressure from all directions surged towards Monkey, compressing his body. Dazzling golden light shone from Monkey as he countered the formidable pressure, dissolving it one after another.
Seeing the Treasure Vase, Monkey naturally put his heart into his stomach, as Elder Eighteen’s bizarre actions now had an explanation. He burst into laughter and said, "It’s been a long time since we sparred, let me see your current strength."
Monkey used the Law of Heaven and Earth Technique, transforming into a towering giant, holding the Jingu Bang in hand. He ignited the Somersault Cloud beneath his feet and, with harrowing speed, drove his formidable body forward, pairing it with the 13,500-pound weight of the Jingu Bang to unleash a terrifying force in an instant.
The whole space turned into a world of water, and under Monkey’s powerful attack, waves surged, sweeping around and causing Bajie and Sand Monk to quickly retreat with Tang Monk and their belongings in tow.
Huge waves crashed against the walls of the space, creating distinct cracking sounds, as Monkey’s ultimate strike broke through this aquatic space.
However, at that moment, the Treasure Vase gradually enlarged, and a world of water suddenly descended, merging with the entire space. Monkey could clearly feel that this was a real world, and to break it would be extremely difficult.
Suddenly, a stream of water shot up into the sky, transforming into a massive wave that raced towards the disciples, carrying them swiftly away. In no time at all, they arrived at a beautifully scenic island, where a Scholar in a green robe stood with his hands clasped behind his back, awaiting them with a smile—it was Lu Yu.
"Scholar, hurry up and tell me all about this Divine Skill of yours!" Monkey grabbed Lu Yu’s hand without any hesitation, excitedly speaking. It was clear that Lu Yu’s previous actions had fascinated Monkey.
Lu Yu shook his head helplessly; this Monkey, who seemed so reliable and steady in Tang Monk’s disciples’ eyes, appeared especially naive in front of Lu Yu.
"This is a Divine Skill I’ve recently comprehended. I call it ’Illusory Flowers Reflective Moon,’" Lu Yu said with a smile.

"If it’s called ’Illusory Flowers Reflective Moon,’ then it’s an illusion technique?" Tang Monk asked with a curious expression.
This question made the disciples turn their heads in surprise, as it seemed out of character for their master to ask such a thing.
"Yet to congratulate you on breaking through the illusion and witnessing your true nature so that from now on, the Great Dao is a smooth path," Lu Yu warmly congratulated Tang Xuanzhang with a cupped-hand salute.
"Ten lifetimes of cultivation, a journey filled with hardships, I’ve finally seen the results. Without your help, it would have been much harder for me to awaken so soon. The influence of human fortune and destiny always loom over me, and if it had been any later, it could have changed my nature," Tang Xuanzhang said. Indeed, the influence had already been there; the current Tang Xuanzhang, compared to the former Golden Cicada, had less irreverence and more steadiness and maturity.
"That’s because you were able to see your own heart and understand your nature. I only helped you to recognize your inner self a bit sooner."
Everyone suddenly realized where that resounding cicada’s chirp, which echoed through all three realms, had come from. Monkey, however, was not satisfied and pressed on: "Don’t change the subject, hurry up and talk about your new Divine Skill, teach it to me properly."
Lu Yu offered an apologetic smile to Golden Cicada before explaining to Monkey: "This technique is one I created by combining illusion techniques with the Rules of Water and authority. It’s a reflection of reality, seemingly real yet fictitious, but it can interchange true and false, catching people off guard."
Speaking of this technique, Lu Yu was brimming with pride. Being able to develop such a new technique and with impressive effects was certainly something to be proud of. It also proved that his understanding of the Great Dao and laws had reached a new realm, which was immensely beneficial for his further cultivation journey.
"What’s false when true becomes true, indeed a fine Divine Skill," Bajie, with his high status and broad experience in the Heavenly Court, naturally recognized the remarkable aspect of Lu Yu’s technique and thus genuinely exclaimed.
"Great Divine Skill, teach me! Teach me!" Monkey said with a delighted face.
