Solar Calendar, mid-November of the year 4420.

A seemingly ordinary Friday, just before nine in the morning.

Today’s snow is heavy, and the temperature is cold.

In the hazy vision, the port of Enlighment is shrouded in a dreamy white fog. By the docks, the outlines of several gigantic cargo ships could be vaguely seen. Some workers, heavily dressed, were operating machines by the shore, transporting large containers.

The shouts, the clangs of metal collisions, and the dull sound of chain rotations intertwined, gradually spreading out.

Even from far away, it could be heard.

At the other end of the Enlightenment Port’s boardwalk, a small fishing boat was ready to set off. The blond, handsome Felisiano leapt from the shore onto the deck, distributing the sandwiches he had just bought to his companions.

"Thanks."

Polaris, dressed in a blue suit, smiled as he took it.

He unwrapped the paper packaging, took a bite of the juicy bacon sandwich, and then turned his gaze to the stern of the boat. There stood a man, brown long curly hair flowing in the wind, a long dark brown coat revealing his tall figure, with the high collar of noble attire vaguely visible.

"When are we departing?"

Polaris retracted his gaze and asked simply.

Felisiano shrugged, gestured for a moment, then stepped through the narrow passageway of the fishing boat and came to his friend Raphael’s side.

Before he could speak, Raphael said without turning his head:

"It seems this fog won’t be dispersing anytime soon. Let’s set off in twenty minutes."

Felisiano was taken aback at first, then smiled and said:

"Alright, we’ll do as you say. After all, none of us have much experience with sailing..."

He returned to inform the senior students of the departure time. Sunny Xiaoyu, Lucy, and Asoka were gathered together, holding onto the railings, looking out at the Enlightenment Port and the scenery along the boardwalk.

"Shouldn’t we have informed the teacher? It might not be proper to leave without saying anything..."

Asoka said nervously.

"The professor is too busy. He’s been in his room researching for the past few days. Didn’t Polaris senior also warn us not to disturb him at will..."

Felisiano, standing nearby, comforted her.

"Don’t worry, we left a letter explaining the reason for our outing. By the time we get back, the professor might still be busy."

"I’ve never experienced an adventure at sea. I hope I won’t hold everyone back..."

Asoka still looked nervous, with her small hands clasped together.

Next to her, Lucy patted her shoulder and gently comforted her:

"Me too, Asoka, but this is a rare opportunity... We are all learning supernatural knowledge together from the teacher. We’ll have to learn to face dangers alone sooner or later. Besides, with the senior students and Mr. Raphael here, there’s no need to be too nervous."

"Alright..."

Asoka, a bit reassured, nodded and leaned into Lucy’s embrace.

Sunny Xiaoyu, meanwhile, was taking big bites of a hot sandwich and asked indistinctly:

"Felisiano, Asoka, you both have just advanced to [Scholar], so you should have learned the basic methods of scroll transcription. How’s it been going these days?"

"Quite proficiently, senior sister."

Felisiano smiled confidently.

As he spoke, he took out some scrolls from his backpack to prove his point.

"This is ’Acid Spell,’ this is ’Illumination Spell,’ and this one is ’White Snake Assault Spell’... I’ve been diligently studying the knowledge Professor Jack asked Polaris senior to pass on to me. If we encounter danger, I can help everyone!"

"I’ve transcribed the basic spells, but I’m still not very fluent with the professor’s ’White Snake Assault Spell.’ I’ve failed several times..."

Asoka said, embarrassed.

"You both are already doing great!"

Sunny Xiaoyu patted Asoka’s head, even though they were about the same height, making it look somewhat amusing.

After a few more casual chats,

the gentle-looking Raphael approached them and nodded in greeting.

"Everyone, I’ll be responsible for the piloting of the ship, but the scouting of the sea will depend on you later."

"No problem, leave it to me."

Polaris adjusted his blue hat and spoke softly.

"The fog is too thick, and the floodlights on this small fishing boat might not work well. I’ll use divination to find the direction and predict any danger."

"I’ll leave it to you then, Polaris sir."

Raphael gave him a solemn bow.

As the two strongest figures in the departure team, they had a certain understanding, and out of reverence for Your Majesty Jack Spett, Raphael maintained a friendly attitude towards the five students from start to finish.

Before long,

boo!

A loud whistle sounded.

The pilot on duty at the dock waved a small flag at the fishing boat, and Felisiano responded with a thumbs-up before turning and running back to the cabin.

The small fishing boat then slowly set off from the port, heading towards the foggy sea.

"It’s really cold outside. Why am I still so afraid of the cold when I’m already a Transcendent..."

As soon as Felisiano came in, he took the cup of hot tea Lucy handed him, sipping it as he complained.

"Because each path in the Sequence contains different powers. [Scholars] are more inclined towards memory and brain development, with a stronger sensitivity and affinity for magical knowledge."

Raphael stood upright at the helm, tilting his head with a gentle smile.

```
"You wouldn’t expect that, after becoming a [Scholar], you could gain a strong physique like the [Butcher] and [Believer], right?"
"If that were the case, the continent’s unification would not have been by the Tresor Empire, but by the Byron Kingdom..."
Polaris chuckled lightly.
"Strong mages aren’t non-existent; His Majesty Honorino is a prime example."
Felisiano pointed out the tall bronze statue that was faintly visible through the fog outside the porthole and spoke.
"It’s a pity that such a great deity has also fallen..."
"That’s just a rumor. The life and death of the gods are not something we mortals can fathom... Perhaps when you become a Magic Saint one day, you can tell me the answer, Felisiano."
Raphael joked.
Perhaps recalling his ancestor, he had an epiphany.
In the Mystic Realm, information about the "Outsider" Seth Mitchell was extremely scarce, but most indicated that this Earth Angel had already fallen. However, in Raphael’s dreams, he could clearly sense his ancestor’s presence; he hadn’t died, he was just unknown to the mortals of this world.
Thinking of this, Raphael’s mood grew even heavier.
He desperately hoped that through this voyage, he could find that special transcendent material, gaining some peace of mind and no longer being worried every night when he went to sleep.
"How much do you know about the Mist Sea?"
Felisiano sat on the cold, hard bench, feeling a bit bored, and couldn’t help but start a conversation.
Lucy and Asoka remained silent. Although they had both stepped into the Mystic Realm, their understanding of the world was still in an exploratory phase, with many things only half-known.
"All I know is that, in the limited historical records, no one has ever succeeded in leaving the Mist Sea and returning alive."
Raphael said calmly.
"The Mist Sea surrounds the Sun Continent, and whether there are other human civilizations and new worlds outside of it, no one knows... Of course, I believe the omnipotent gods know the answer, but they have not told us."
"There are rumors that beyond the far east of the continent, there are large lands across the distant Mist Sea, where the Tresor Empire’s army once reached..."
Sunny Xiaoyu questioned in confusion.
Unexpectedly, Raphael just shook his head.
"That’s not a continent, it’s just a group of islands, called the ’Mist Islands’ by the Tresor people. As to what’s on them, perhaps only the empire soldiers who participated in the ’Overseas Landing Battle’ know... but most of them are dead, and those who survived remain silent. The Sun Royal Family has intentionally blocked the information, suggesting it’s not a good place."
He turned the boat’s helm and looked back at the curious crowd, then shared what he knew:
"Have you heard of the ’Mist Island Drift Theory’? It talks about the origins of those mysterious islands... Rumor has it that before the establishment of the Tresor Empire, in ancient times, there were no Mist Islands at all, and they were discovered one day, almost appearing like a divine miracle."
Raphael raised his hand and pointed three times in the air.
"Moreover, the Mist Islands are not only beyond the far east but also exist in the far north and the extreme west of the Sun Continent... If viewed from a high altitude, they form a triangular arc surrounding the continent. Hence, some historians and geologists believe they were likely part of the continent but drifted away for some reason."
"So there’s such a theory. Thank you for sharing, Raphael Mitchell."
Sunny Xiaoyu quickly expressed gratitude.
She exchanged a glance with Polaris, understanding the value such rare information might hold; perhaps, one day, it could become the key to unlocking a hidden mission!
"You’re welcome, but after all, it’s just a rumor, and there is no substantial evidence to prove the truth and accuracy of the ’drift theory’. "
Raphael waved dismissively.
The small fishing boat had long left the harbor and was gently swaying on the mist-covered sea, surrounded by an endless expanse of white, with very low visibility.
About four hours later.
The fog began to gradually thin, and not far ahead of the small fishing boat, a faint shadow of an island could be seen.
Standing by the porthole, Polaris suddenly frowned, seemingly confirming something, then pulled out a deck of playing cards and quickly shuffled them in his hand.
Sccch…
Finally, he held three red cards and turned to look at the others, speaking in a deep voice:
"There are people on that small deserted island ahead, likely shipwreck survivors."
Upon hearing this, everyone stood up, ran to the porthole, and sure enough, they could see some broken planks and crates floating on the sea. On the shore of the small island, a thin wisp of smoke rose, presumably a distress signal deliberately made by someone.
"Should we go check it out?"
Felisiano looked back at everyone and asked.
"Maybe we can rescue them along the way."
Raphael opened his mouth, ready to refuse.
Having been in the Mystic Realm for many years, he knew that many things couldn’t be taken at face value; it could very well be a trap. Besides, the purpose of this journey was solely to explore ruins and find transcendent materials, and he didn’t want to involve himself in anything else.
But since this trip wasn’t alone, he had to respect the opinions of others. Raphael asked calmly:
"Everyone, what do you think?"
"I think we should prioritize Raphael’s task. If things go smoothly, we can rescue them on the way back."
Lucy said.
"I think we should rescue them first."
Asoka said cautiously.
She felt that in such cold weather, an ordinary person wouldn’t survive... if they were late, the person might freeze to death.
Polaris and Sunny Xiaoyu didn’t care much, but they had triggered a rescue mission. The rewards were meager, but the experience points were substantial.
They had been in the Byron Kingdom with Jack for over half a month without leveling up intentionally, which made them anxious, so they didn’t want to miss these experience points.
"Since we’ve encountered it, we might as well rescue them. Perhaps we can get some information from them, which might be useful for our next actions."
Polaris thought for a moment and said.
"Alright then."
Seeing this, Raphael sighed inwardly and reluctantly nodded. He turned the helm, and the small fishing boat slowly headed towards the small island.
