.....
A week has passed in the blink of an eye. Mostly Petal has occupied herself with school and practicing. She would wake up early in the morning only to come back at the sunset. During this week. She successfully managed to avoid seeing Ethan. It was comfortable this way.
She had decided that after the festival. She will move out from here. She needs her place. She’s sick and tired from staying at other people’s houses. It would be new bagging for her. To forget or at least try to forget everything that happened.
Petal was on her way back to the mansion when she received a text message from Noah. She bought a new phone after she burned the old one but with the same number.
[Hey! I just returned from traveling. Can I see you?]
Petal read the message thinking about what she should do. She’s tired and needs to sleep but she can’t just tell him now. Noah has helped her a lot since she met him.
[I’m on my way back. I’ll text when I arrive." She texted back.
Locking her phone. She turned to look at Jacob who was driving silently today which is strange. In the past week, he never stopped talking every time she rode with him in the car. Maybe he finally lost hope. She thought to herself.
Once they arrived at the mansion. Petal texted Noah and they met at the mansion garden. Noah left two months ago but they never stopped texting. She considers him as her close friend.
"I missed you." Nothing said as he hugged her.
"I missed you too." She replied. signaling.
Noah smiled as he looked at her. "You look great. How’s school?" He asked as he sat down.
"Good." She replied. signaling.
"You know." Noah trailed off looking at the night sky.``In these two months, I just couldn’t stop thinking about you. I know it’s hard to say that now but it’s the truth and I don’t want to feel that I’m pressuring you to accept my feelings." He said as he looked at her.
There they go again. All that trashy words about love and stupid words about having for her. Men don’t give up. Petal learned that the hard way. She looked ahead of her and didn’t comment on his words. He better give up on her and find someone else.
"I’m tired. I need to rest. Good night." Petal said. signaling before she stood up walking inside the mansion.
Noah frowned as he looked at her figure disappearing inside the mansion. She seemed to be angry and sad. Did his words bother her? He wondered.
----
Every night. Petal spends the nights crying until she falls asleep. That is what nobody knew. The heartache was still there. The wound that Ethan caused was still oozing with blood. She was tired of trying to convince herself that going to be fine when she wasn’t.
It’s only been ten days and they felt like ten years. She missed him. That she can’t deny. In his presence. It became easy for her to fall asleep without nightmares. The way he used to hold her with. The warmth of his body. The reassuring words that he used to see her. All of them. She missed it all.
Why did he do that to her? Why was so good to her that she couldn’t get over him? Did nothing happen between them that meant something to him? 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Every night she asks herself these questions. Petal remembered a quote she once read."The pleasure of love lasts but a moment. The pain of love lasts a lifetime."
Yes. She can relate to this quote. The happiness. The pleasure that she felt. All lasted for a short period. Petal wanted to know one thing only. Did he have feelings for her or not? The answer to this question will help her to heal to move on and more importantly. It will help her to decide what kind of revenge she will make him taste.
----
The next morning. Petal was walking upstairs with a cup of coffee in her hands. Lately, she stopped eating breakfast at the mansion. The truth is that she hardly eats even outside. Coffee had started to make her feel heartburn and stomach discomfort but it’s the only thing she feels like drinking other than water.
Reaching the second floor. She saw the door to Ethan’s room open. She can hear his voice talking with someone at the door. Not wanting to be caught. Petal continued on her way to her room.
"Petal." She heard him calling her.
Petal holds on the coffee cup tightened. She didn’t want to turn around and look into his eyes but she did. Turning around. She stared at him with cold eyes.
"It’s Sunday. Why are you dressed like this? Are you going out?" Ethan asked as he walked towards her.
Petal was dumbfounded by the audacity of this man. Why is asking her when he has no right?
Placing the cup of coffee on the near table. She crossed her arms looking at him.
Ethan’s lips curled up into a smile. She looks cute when she acts tough.
"What do you want?" Petal asked. signaling.
Stepping close to her. He reached to push her hair back."I already asked you. Where are you going?" Ethan asked again.
"That is not your business." Petal replied. signaling.
"Petal." He called her name in a warning tone.
They looked into each. If someone would pass them right now they would think that they’re enemies and didn’t used to be lovers. For a second Ethan thought Petal would weaken in front of him. Reminded by the moments they shared. But she didn’t. She stood her ground.
"Why do you care? It’s not like you care about me." She said, signaling.
At her words. Ethan now was the one reminded by what he did. Regret started to build inside of him.
