Sitting on the edge of the bed, Ethan stared at her. He hoped that she wouldn’t catch a cold from getting wet from the rain and sleeping on the ground. Her cheeks were covered with fresh tears.

Reach for her face, He gently wiped the tears on her face before he removed the hair that fell on her face. He tried to stay away from her but he couldn’t, He needed to see her, He needed to make sure that she was alright.

Ethan bent down and kissed her forehead. Her mother’s loss must have affected her. He wanted to be with her When she cried. He wanted to be the shoulder that she leaned on when she needed to, But she just pushed him away.

Jacob stood at the entrance of the room watching how the cruel mafia man treated Petal with affection. He seems to be deeply in love with her. But will PetaI love him back after what happened?

Ethan watched the sleeping girl’s facial expressions, Her eyebrows creased together as she was having A bad dream. He brought his hand to her face and gently massaged the space between her eyebrows until they became relaxed.

Though Ethan was in love with Petal, There’re many things that he doesn’t know about her. He once heard from his mother that she had a rough childhood and that her life wasn’t an easy one. She was hated by her father once he discovered that she was born with disabilities.

He wanted to know more about her, He wanted to know it from her, That’s what he planned but it’s impossible right now. He only hoped that she doesn’t do something reckless to get revenge on him.

Covering her body with the blanket, Ethan, took one last look at her before he left the room.

"Coffee?" Jacob asked when he saw him coming out of the PetaI room.

Sitting down, Ethan picked the coffee cup taking a sip from it before he put the cup down.

Jacob watched closely the man in front of him. He still couldn’t believe that this man had feelings for Petal, But he saw earlier is more than strong proof for what he said.

"I want to know more about PetaI. Can you help with that?" Ethan asked.

Jacob, who was about to drink his coffee, Paused when he heard what the man in front of him said.

"I will, But First, I need to ask you something. If PetaI rejected you, What are you going to do?" Jacob asked wanting to know what kind of love he harbors towards her.

Ethan stayed silent for some time before he answered him. He understood what Jacob meant. He was asking if he would force her to stay against her will, But he isn’t that kind of man.

"Then, I will just watch over her from the sidelines. It will be more than enough for me." He replied.

"Let’s see, Petal was a lonely child, With no friends except for me. Her mother loved her deeply but her father hated her very being. Henry wanted to have a boy to carry his family name but Olivia gave birth to a girl. At first, he didn’t mind it and said that he would make her his heir. That was until Petal reached two months old and Olivia started to notice the problems in her child. After taking her to the doctor, Henry discovered the truth about PetaI’s disability. He accepted the truth and tried to be a good father but he wasn’t." Jacob paused, watching Ethan’s reaction.

His face was emotionless, But his eyes told everything he was hiding.

"How did the two of you become friends?" Ethan was curious to know about this man too.

Jacob chuckled, Understanding the meaning behind his question.

"You have to understand that PetaI never thought of me more than a friend and brother, You are the first male that she acknowledged outside the friendship zone." Jacob explained to clarify any misunderstanding.

"That’s good." Ethan said as he leaned back on his chair.

What an ass**** Jacob thought in his mind.

"My family was working for her family, My father was working as a bodyguard and my mother was a maid. My father was training me to become a personal bodyguard. Olivia asked my father to let me play with her daughter since there weren’t any children in the family except for the two of us, so we became friends, and later I was hired to become her bodyguard." Jacob replied.

Nodding his head, Ethan said.

"Thank you for taking care of her."

Jacob chuckled hearing this.

After Ethan, Left. Jacob checked on Petal before he went to sleep himself. Tonight was a strange night, He thought to himself.

The next morning.

Petal had been awake for more than an hour, She didn’t feel like leaving the bed. Last night she had a vivid dream that Ethan was here in this room. She felt his touch as if it was real. Right now, The last thing she needs is to have her mind filled with him.

Looking up, She saw Her mother’s picture frame that was on the nightstand, Reaching her hand she brought it close to her. PetaI traced her finger over the glass. Heavy feeling filled her heart at the thought of not seeing her mother anymore.

"I want to always be a strong and brave girl, Even when I’m not with you."

Petal remembered her mother’s words, Words are easier than actions.

She tried to remind herself that she wasn’t alone, She still has Jacob. He’s family to her.

Petal suddenly felt guilty, She felt guilty towards Alice and Lana. They were so good with her and treated her as a family. A tired sigh came out of her lips. Getting up from the bed, She walked towards the door, Opening it, She immediately smelled the delicious food smell that Jacob was preparing.

It reminded her of the times when he would cook secretly for her when her parents went out. He would prepare her the delicious food that her mom doesn’t allow her to eat. Petal gained weight easily plus she was born with a weak body, So Her mother made sure that she always ate healthy food and on weekends she would allow her to eat anything she wanted.

"You’re on time, I was just going to wake you up." Jacob said as he put the food plates on the table.

Sitting on the table, Petal reached for the pancake that was covered with strawberry chocolate and took a bit from it.

"Is it good?" He asked her and she nodded her head taking another bite as she looked around her.

Yesterday, She didn’t take a good look at the apartment. She wondered for how long Jacob had been leaving here.

"So, What are you going to do?" Jacob asked as he sat down at the table.

Petal looked at him and shrugged her shoulders, telling him that she didn’t know.

"Lana called you many times and texted you, Do you want to call her?" Jacob asked and watched the conflicted look on her face.

"I’m not asking you to go back there, But they did take you in. You’re free to hate Ethan or not. But go tell them that you’re grateful for everything and you no longer want to leave. Face your problems PetaI don’t run away." Jacob said.

Petal said nothing and continued to eat, She heard everything Jacob said. But she was thinking something. Planning for something, But she won’t share her plan, After all, She no longer has something to lose.

"I will go there this afternoon." Petal said signaling and continued to eat her food.

Jacob noticed something in the look in her eyes, He knew PetaI too well, She was planning to do something.

"Good." He replied to her words.

After the breakfast, PetaI sent a text to Lana saying that she would come this afternoon. She sent the same text to Noah. She needed him to be there. He is the most important player in her game.

Throwing her phone on the bed, She went to the bathroom to take a quick shower.

At the mansion.

Alice walked down the stairs and saw her mother talking to the maids while the other maids walked back and forth around the mansion.

"Are we expecting someone today?" Alice asked her mother.

"Yes, Petal texted me and said that she is coming this afternoon." Lana said.

"That’s good, I thought that she would never come back." Alice said.

Lana pointed to the maid to place the plate on the table."PetaI is a good girl with a kind heart, I know she will come back." Lana said.

Alice nodded her head and smiled.

"Now, go. I need to prepare for lunch."
