Invincible Little School Doctor-Chapter 1926: New Tricks in Fleece Skincare?
"Hey there, buddy, I’m trying to find out where Half-Mountain Residence is?" Ye Haochuan had just walked out of the Legendary Pawnshop when he realized he didn’t know where Half-Mountain Residence was, so he stopped a passerby to ask.
The passerby looked at Ye Haochuan as if he were daft, responding irritably, "You don’t even know where Half-Mountain Residence is? You’re wasting your life, man!"
What the heck, is Half-Mountain Residence really that famous? Do I absolutely have to know where it is?
Ye Haochuan was feeling pretty frustrated about this.
Fortunately, after looking down on Ye Haochuan, the passerby seemed to feel a rare sense of accomplishment and said, "Half-Mountain Residence is on Half-Mountain!"
Screw that, isn’t that the most pointless answer?
Ye Haochuan managed to suppress his urge to punch this guy, smiling, "Then where is Half-Mountain?"
"In Half-Mountain County of Dongyang Mansion. From here, you’ll have to pass through Mushan County, then Anxi County, and then..." the passerby finally started getting to the point.
"Wait, so Half-Mountain is a county?" Ye Haochuan asked, a bit puzzled.
"Half-Mountain County is named after Half-Mountain. Once you get to Half-Mountain County, you’ll naturally know where Half-Mountain is!" the passerby patiently explained with a shrug, "But it’ll take at least half a year to get there from here. Are you sure you want to go?"
"Absolutely!" Ye Haochuan nodded solemnly.
He was going to Half-Mountain Residence to save Sophia, so no matter how far it was, even if it meant braving fire and brimstone, he had to go.
"Alright then, pay up!" the passerby said, extending his hand.
"Pay up? Pay for what?"
"For asking directions, of course! What, trying to skip out on the bill?" the passerby said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Saying this, he deliberately raised his voice, drawing the attention of everyone around.
Oh come on, what’s this rotten luck of mine, getting extorted just for asking directions?
Ye Haochuan was feeling incredibly frustrated.
But he wasn’t the type to back down easily, unwilling to submit to this kind of situation.
However, just as he was about to argue his case, a disheveled woman suddenly stepped into the crowd and shouted, "Hey buddy, just out of lock-up? Don’t even know the customs here?"
Just out of lock-up? What’s she talking about, making it sound like I just got out of jail?
Ye Haochuan was a bit confused by this setup, but he didn’t want to ask where he might have been released from. Instead, he curiously asked, "Customs? What customs?"
"In this world, money talks. You want a meal, you’ve got to pay for it, same with lodging fees... Naturally, asking for directions costs money too!" the woman stated as if it were the most reasonable thing.
"Is this some new spin on ’Fleece Skincare’?" Ye Haochuan said, looking at the woman with interest.
The woman and the passerby totally seemed like partners in scamming people.
"Fleece Skincare? How does it work?" the woman asked, confused by Ye Haochuan’s reference.
"However you want it to work, but I’m not sticking around for it!" Ye Haochuan said, not wanting to waste any more time, and turned to leave.
"Hey, trying to leave without paying?" the passerby blocked Ye Haochuan’s path, sighing, "I wasn’t planning to really scam you, but if you break the custom over one Spirit Crystal, you’ll end up getting beaten for nothing. Why bother?"
"One Spirit Crystal?" Ye Haochuan found it odd — one Spirit Crystal wasn’t really extortion.
Only then did he notice that everyone around seemed to think it made perfect sense.
What the heck, could there really be such a custom?
Ye Haochuan had a moment of realization; it seemed like there actually was such a custom here.
Just thinking about it made his face feel hot, even with his thick skin.
"Sorry, I..." Ye Haochuan didn’t even know how to explain, so he paid a Spirit Crystal and prepared to leave.
But just then, the woman stopped him, "You’ve paid for directions, but you haven’t paid for the lesson on customs!"
Screw this, just a few words and you have to pay up — this Immortal Realm is just too merciless, isn’t it?
Ye Haochuan was feeling a bit bitter. Considering how much liquid Spiritual Energy he used to earn those few Red Crystals, spending them like this wouldn’t last him a few days here.
Not wanting to humiliate himself further, Ye Haochuan hastily handed the woman a Spirit Crystal before preparing to leave.
But unexpectedly, the woman said, "One Spirit Crystal isn’t enough."
"How much do you want then?" Ye Haochuan asked, perplexed.
"At least a thousand Spirit Crystals," she said with a sly grin, looking at Ye Haochuan.
"A thousand Spirit Crystals? Are you robbing me?" Ye Haochuan flared up instantly; he didn’t have a thousand Spirit Crystals to his name!
"Not giving? Fine, I’ll just take it myself!" the woman shrugged, then suddenly her figure flashed and disappeared.
"Whoa, she’s fast!" Ye Haochuan was startled, instantly becoming cautious.
But in the next moment, a barely perceptible shadow drifted across his face.
"What strange movement technique!" Ye Haochuan sighed again. The shadow passing by was clearly the woman, but he couldn’t even catch a glimpse of how she did it.
Clearly, the Immortal Realm was full of hidden talents. Just now, he didn’t sense much Spiritual Energy fluctuation from the woman, yet she was so formidable.
He just didn’t know what the woman’s aim was, as she dashed away after brushing past him.
"Young man, paying for directions is just a customary fee here, like offering a small gratuity, but teaching about customs is not included," the passerby suddenly spoke up.
What the heck, does it have to be that complicated?
Ye Haochuan felt like he was getting dizzy from it all.
"Oh well, oh well, it’s just a Red Crystal, let it go," Ye Haochuan, though a bit unwilling to have been swindled, figured it wasn’t a huge loss and decided not to dwell on it.
"A Red Crystal may not be a big deal, but taking your ring is a bit underhanded, don’t you think?" the passerby shrugged.
"My ring?" Ye Haochuan was shocked, looking down to find his ring truly gone.
"What the heck, when did that happen?" Ye Haochuan was taken aback.
Clearly, the woman had swiped it when she passed by earlier. What shocked Ye Haochuan was that he hadn’t noticed a thing.
Looking at the passerby, Ye Haochuan was frustrated.
This guy clearly saw him being robbed and took his time talking crap instead of warning him. Had he done so, maybe Ye Haochuan could have caught up. Now, where was he supposed to chase her?
Fortunately, Ye Haochuan still had his trump card.
His eyes flashed gold, and any obstruction ahead of him turned transparent.
Sure enough, behind a distant building, the disheveled woman was playing with Ye Haochuan’s ring, looking quite pleased with herself.
"You’ve got to be kidding me, thinking you can steal from me? I’ll make you wish you were dead!" Ye Haochuan’s anger flared up.
The ring contained all he owned, including the Red Crystals he’d just exchanged. This was a grudge he wasn’t going to let slide.
