Invincible Divine Doctor of the Beautiful Lady-Chapter 614 - 604: Despicable Man
Chapter 614: Chapter 604: Despicable Man
"Tangyu, could we have a private word?" Liu Shiyi suddenly approached and addressed Tangyu.
Tangyu nodded and said, "Sure, of course."
"Let’s go over there," Liu Shiyi suggested, pointing to a quieter spot nearby. Meanwhile, the County Magistrate and the others were arranging other matters.
Soon the two reached the quiet grassy area. Liu Shiyi looked at Tangyu with deep affection and hesitated before speaking, "Tangyu, do you really like me?"
Tangyu smiled and nodded immediately, saying, "Like, of course I like you. Haven’t I already confessed my feelings to you? I am very serious." He liked Liu Shiyi’s innocence, her filial and kind nature, her slight wilfulness, and the rare strength she possesses as a woman. Moreover, since she studied traditional Chinese medicine, she shared many common interests with Tangyu. Although Liu Shiyi was a typical girl-next-door, she was far from ordinary in Tangyu’s eyes and had her unique charm.
"Do you like my appearance, or do you like who I am?" Liu Shiyi continued, having pondered this question for a long time before deciding to ask Tangyu. Otherwise, this matter would make her incredibly uncomfortable, like a lump in her throat.
"I like both," Tangyu honestly replied. Men are visual creatures; the first impression is definitely one’s looks and demeanor, and then one considers who this person is and whether they suit oneself. As the saying goes, "What’s the use of being attractive if you can’t use it to fill your stomach? However, if you can’t even bear to look, then you might starve." Love is peculiar; indeed, some people can love another unconditionally, but this is as rare as it is portrayed in TV shows. More often, people fall in love with one’s appearance first, and then with their personality.
For Tangyu, appearance was obviously the primary factor, followed by personality. He admitted this without shame; he was slightly superficial, he admitted that too. It wasn’t disgraceful to be a hero with romantic flair.
"So, you mean you prefer my looks a bit more?" Liu Shiyi said.
Tangyu fell silent; he genuinely didn’t know how to answer this question as he didn’t want to lie to Liu Shiyi.
A peculiar light flickered in Liu Shiyi’s eyes, and her face cooled slightly: "Your silence is an admission. You men are really all the same. Claiming to like someone when it’s really just about looks. I thought you were different, but it seems I was wrong. You also like me for my looks. Tangyu, you know what? You were the first person who touched my heart and the first to breach its defenses. But you are not the one I should wait for, as you don’t truly like me, and you have a girlfriend. So, we cannot be together."
"Shiyi, listen to me, I genuinely like you. It’s true that I noticed you because of your appearance, but that doesn’t mean my feelings for you are about your looks. I like you as a person, and of course—your appearance too, but that doesn’t mean my feelings aren’t genuine," Tangyu earnestly argued.
Liu Shiyi shook her head: "I won’t believe your words; I won’t be deceived by your sweet talk." After saying this, Liu Shiyi turned and walked away. Tangyu stepped forward to hold her, but she forcefully shook him off and then covered her mouth and ran away.
It was only then that others around them noticed the situation and looked in their direction, puzzled by what was happening.
"Shiyi," Tangyu looked at the bystanders, then chased after Liu Shiyi.
On a distant hilltop.
"Now’s our chance, follow them, take action," Hank gritted his teeth and said sternly.
Erhu was silent, his face somber, and his eyes flashing an unusual gleam, contemplating something.
"Erhu, why are you hesitating to take action?" Hank looked at Erhu with some anger.
"Of course not, I’m just considering whether this might be a trap," Erhu replied.
"Hah, you Huaxia people are always too cautious. Didn’t you clearly see what just happened? How could it be a trap? If we don’t act now, we’ll miss a good opportunity. Tangyu is chasing after that woman and will definitely leave the village. It’ll be the perfect time for us to act. Unfortunately, we don’t have a sniper; otherwise, things would be much easier. If you won’t act, we will. You can keep waiting for your chance," Hank said coldly, smirking, then led his men away.
"Second-in-command, let’s do it, this is a good opportunity."
"Yes, Second-in-command, don’t hesitate. If we miss this opportunity, it won’t come again," others urged.
Erhu gritted his teeth: "Fine, let’s do it, brothers, let’s avenge the Third-in-command and our fallen brothers. Today, we take down our enemy," he declared, and a crowd followed resolutely.
Late at the reservoir.
Tangyu looked around but couldn’t find Liu Shiyi anywhere. He pursed his lips: "This woman, where has she gone? How could she disappear in the blink of an eye? Shiyi, where are you? Come out. Listen to my explanation; I truly love you. You must believe me." Tangyu surveyed the surroundings, his mouth slightly curving into an almost imperceptible sinister smile, as he had evidently noticed the motion on the hill.
