Interstellar Beastworld: Raising A Cub With My Mummy System!-Chapter 32: BABY PROOF THE HOUSE
They walked out of the hospital into the bright morning sun. A sleek black car waited at the curb, polished to perfection, door already open.
Uriel carefully placed Auriel into the baby car seat, checking the harness twice, then a third time. He tugged on the straps, made sure they were secure but not too tight, adjusted the head support so it cradled Auriel’s tiny head just right. He ran his fingers along the edges, ensuring nothing was loose, nothing could shift during the drive.
Lin Yue watched, amused. "You have done this before."
"I watched videos." He did not look up, still focused on the harness. "Multiple times. Different angles. Slow motion."
"Of course you did."
He finished and straightened, studying his work for another long moment. Satisfied, he moved to the passenger door and opened it for her. A small gesture, but deliberate. He waited until she was seated before closing it gently.
He circled to the driver’s side and got in. The car hummed to life and lifted smoothly off the ground.
Lin Yue watched the hospital shrink behind them through the window. "So, back to the castle?"
"No." Uriel’s voice was calm, certain. "We are going home."
She looked at him. "The castle is not home?"
"That is not our home." He glanced at her, then back at the road ahead. "My estate is our home. You, me, Auriel. That is where we will be safe."
She had not thought about it. The castle had been where she woke up, where she spent her days, where she nearly died. It did not feel like home. It felt like a place she was passing through, a waiting room before real life began.
"Your estate," she repeated.
"Our estate." He paused, choosing his words carefully. "I had it renovated. While you were in the hospital. The baby’s room is ready. Our room is ready. There are servants, staff, security. You will want for nothing."
She blinked. "You renovated a whole estate in two days?"
"I started the moment you went into labor." He said it like it was obvious, like mobilizing an entire renovation team during a medical emergency was perfectly normal. "I wanted you to come home to somewhere safe. Somewhere ours. Not the castle with its politics and prying eyes. Somewhere private."
Lin Yue looked out the window, at the city passing below, at the towers and the sky bright with morning light. The buildings were thinning now, giving way to green spaces, larger properties set back from the road.
Home.
She had not had a home in a long time. Not really. Earth was gone. The castle was temporary. But this... this sounded different. This sounded like somewhere she could put down roots, even if those roots were on an alien planet light-years from everything she had ever known. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"Thank you," she said quietly.
Uriel glanced at her. "For what?"
"For thinking of it. For making it ours. For not just dumping us back in the castle and calling it done."
He was quiet for a moment. Then: "You are not a burden, Lin Yue. You are not an obligation. You are the mother of my son." His voice was low, measured. "I want you to have a place where you feel safe. Where Auriel can grow up without watching over his shoulder."
Auriel cooed from the back seat, a happy little sound that filled the car.
Lin Yue smiled. "He agrees."
Uriel’s lips twitched. "He does not know what he is agreeing to."
"Neither do I, honestly. But it sounds good."
They drove in comfortable silence for a while, the city giving way to countryside, green hills and scattered trees. The road curved through a gate, past a security checkpoint where guards straightened and saluted, and onto a long driveway lined with flowering bushes.
The estate came into view.
It was beautiful. Not a castle, but a large, elegant house built from warm stone and glass. It sat nestled among gardens, with a pond visible around the side and what looked like a small forest behind it. Peaceful. Private. Safe.
Lin Yue stared. "This is yours?"
"Ours." Uriel pulled up to the front entrance and stopped the car. "Welcome home."
She looked at him, then at the house, then back at him. Something warm bloomed in her chest.
Home.
She could get used to that.
The front door opened before they reached it. A small staff stood waiting, five in total, all in neat uniforms, all with respectful bows.
A middle-aged woman with deer features stepped forward. Small antlers rose from her hair, and her eyes were soft and warm, the kind of presence that immediately put people at ease.
"Welcome home, Your Majesty. Welcome home, Madam Lin Yue." Her gaze dropped to Auriel, still cooing in Lin Yue’s arms. "And welcome to the little prince."
Lin Yue blinked. "You know who we are?"
"The entire estate has been preparing for your arrival, Madam. I am Mira, head of household. If you need anything at all, day or night, you have only to ask."
Uriel spoke. "She will have full access to the staff. No restrictions."
Mira nodded. "Of course, Your Majesty."
They stepped inside.
The entrance hall was warm and inviting, not cold like the castle. Soft light filtered through windows, wooden beams crossed the high ceiling, and fresh flowers sat on a table by the door.
It smelled like home already.
Lin Yue walked through slowly, taking it in.
A living room with comfortable furniture, a fireplace already lit.
A dining room with a table large enough for guests but not so large it felt empty.
A kitchen that looked actually usable, not just for show.
"The servants’ quarters are in the east wing," Mira explained, following at a respectful distance. "Your private quarters are in the west wing, completely separate. You will have complete privacy there."
They reached a door at the end of the hall.
Uriel opened it.
The nursery.
Lin Yue’s breath caught.
It was perfect.
Soft creams and golds, just like the pictures Uriel had shown her.
A crib with rounded edges sat against one wall, already made up with soft blankets.Shelves low to the ground held stuffed animals and picture books. A rocking chair waited by the window, looking out over the garden. Everything was soft, warm, and safe.
"There are no sharp edges." Uriel said quietly. "I checked."
She looked at him. "You checked?"
