Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 468 - Venturing Out of the Camp
Chapter 468: Chapter 468 - Venturing Out of the Camp
Once everything has been discussed for the upcoming mission outside the military camp, all the people in the meeting left the tent hurriedly to prepare for tomorrow. In my peripheral vision, I can see once again that the annoying general was about to approach me. To avoid it, I walked towards Andreas and asked him to accompany me for a short walk until we reach my wagon since I need to discuss certain things with him.
When General Astrantia saw that I was accompanied by Colonel Armand, he stopped in his tracks and just stared towards my direction. Me and my companion calmly walked out of the tent, passing by the guy that looked very irritated.
During our walk, I discussed my plan to leave together with the team tomorrow though I plan to act on my own and go to a different part of the forest. Andreas’ eyes widened at what he just heard and then he immediately shook his head to signify that he hated every single bit of my plan. I smiled and assured him that I can protect myself just fine but he insisted that I have to bring at least one high ranking soldier to protect me.
I looked at him in amusement and told him, "I have the freedom to leave this place as I please. You have listened to my plan and that is all I expect you to do in this situation. Good night, Colonel Armand." With that, I entered my wagon, cutting off whatever other complaints he might still have about everything I said.
The next morning, an hour before sunrise, I was already standing by the main gate of the camp. I chose a dark green and black attire which included a shirt and pants instead of the usual dress or skirt. I was not carrying anything since all the things I needed are already in my storage space anyways. My face is still covered and my hair was tied in a neat bun to avoid it getting in the way of my tasks today.
I opted to lean my back towards the wall while hidden in the shadows of the walls. I was quietly observing as the members of the 60-man team slowly arrived at the meeting point. Everybody is asked to be here by 5:45am for a short briefing then we will all depart at 6:00am. We will then reconvene on the main road near the forest by 3:00pm whether our harvest were plenty or none at all.
I had to wait for about 30 minutes more before all the members of the team arrived. When the head of the mission started the briefing, I finally walked out of the shadows to join the group much to the surprise of everyone.
I got a lot of curious looks from the crowd which I totally ignored. The head of the mission asked me directly as to which team I will be joining and I simply answered, "I am alone. I will go to another area."
The leader furrowed his brows at my answer, obviously uncomfortable about the fact that I will be leaving and going to the forest on my own. Amidst the crowd, the person I did not expect to see walked towards the front and told the leader that he would accompany me for safety reasons.
I scoffed at the obvious attempt to have me alone to force me into a conversation. I reiterated to the leader that Colonel Armand has already been informed of my plan and I dislike working in groups. I stepped back twice and teleported a few meters outside the gates and started walking forward to go to the forest area.
Back in the camp, my sudden disappearance caused panic amongst the team members. The general who volunteered to accompany me clicked his tongue and cussed in anger for being ignored. He started running towards the gates trying to see if I have not gone too far and see where I am headed. I know he could see my back from afar while I was walking away.
With my keen hearing, I started hearing hurried footsteps from afar approaching the place where I am. It was followed by many more pairs of footsteps. The team must have left the gates as well after I left. I already have an idea which part of the forest they will go to so I chose the one across it on the other side of the main road to make sure our paths within the forests do not intersect.
It has been a while since I had a bit of time on my own in nature. I will harvest as much usable items as I can so that there would be enough to give some to the camp and also send back to Uncle Daejung’s shop for selling. Depending on how much I can get today, I may decide to do this for the next few days focusing on the needs of the camp while I am at it.
As for my little persistent tail, let’s see if he can keep up with my exploration pace. I don’t see the need to forbid him from following me since with how stubborn he is (just like me), I don’t think he would listen to anyone. It is the same as how I do things so it would just be a waste of effort to change his mind.
I turned left upon reaching the mark reconvene point area. I didn’t even bother to stop since I know that a certain someone saw me clearly when I turned left anyways. The 60-man team will turn right once they arrive at this point a bit later.
I slowly looked around the area near the road for now, checking on the plants growing in these parts. I already identified some useful herbs and some fruit-bearing trees and bushes from where I am standing. The area was lush as plants grow in abundance with little breathing space in between. I strongly believe that I would have a good harvest today.
I sat down and started harvesting some of the medicinal herbs and spices I found at the periphery of the forest. I also saw some edible berries growing in bushes that I can bring back to the camp as well. They looked like an assortment of strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries. This would be a good addition to the menu for the next few days.
