Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 411 - Rigden Village
Chapter 411: Chapter 411 - Rigden Village
The village was much more smaller than the previous town of Ersha and most people are related to each other either by blood or by marriage. The village have at most about a little over a hundred people living in it. Most people have the same family name so you know immediately if someone just moved in for work, marrying in or for any other purpose.
Since I already have experience on how to check what a territory needs and how to correctly find out their main sources of income, that was the first thing I did at day break the next day, I focused on doing that to get things done as quickly as possible. I also checked for clinics or existence of healers and fortunately there is one though she is already advanced in age. She is the wife of the current village chief.
Compared to the previous town, there is more of a semblance of order here and the atmosphere is mostly cordial, light and just generally happy. As it turns out, the structure that I noticed last night was indeed a chapel. The people that I asked said that they named themselves, "Church of Lumienere".
A new face walking around and snooping such a small village is bound to be noticed quickly. As I was browsing at the things being sold in the early morning market, an old man and woman, probably in their late 60s, approached me and asked if I was a looking for work or to settle down in their village. I looked at them with an emotionless face and simply showed them the badge that was given to me by my in-laws.
Upon seeing the badge, the elderly couple bowed to me and then hurriedly guided me to their home at the northern part of the village. On our way there, the elderly man also called for a middle aged man and whispered something to him and then the man ran away as fast as he could as if he was on an important mission.
Right when we were about to enter the chief’s household, a man in white and dark purple garbs approached us. He was a man in his 20s and quite beautiful indeed given the beauty standard of men in this world. He bowed gracefully to my direction and then also to the couple and without a word followed us from behind to enter the chief’s residence.
I looked curiously at the man but did not comment or ask why his presence is needed. I am sure we will get to that in a bit, once we are inside the chief’s residence. The man in garbs saw me looking at him and he gave me a simple smile but I can see a glint of unexplainable excitement in his eyes.
Once we are inside the living room of the chief’s house, I saw a table full of different snacks, fresh fruits and cold tea. It was as if they expected a visitor to arrive. As expected, the chief, his wife, the man in garbs and me sat together to start the meeting. I did not ask anything further about the extra person and just went straight to what I came in this place for.
I immediately asked the important questions to compare what the scouts found out, my observation and what the town really needed based on the chief’s words. The chief started reporting the territory’s main source of income, current usable structures for the public and then the things that they hopefully can get support from. If I summarized it to simpler points, they just wanted to secure a clean source of water, a protective wall around the village and a better equipped clinic so they can help those who get sick easily and more effectively.
I was actually glad to hear that they are only after a few things. This will make my stay here in Rigden quite brief unless I identify other issues or tasks that need to be addressed. Once the topic about the needs of the village was done, it is finally the turn of our companion in garbs to speak.
The priest named Clarence immediately explained the beliefs that the Church of Lumienere live by. Unlike most of the religions or churches back on earth, the Church of Lumienere allows its male priests to have relationships with women and even bear children. In the event that the priest chose to be with the mother of their child though. that priest has to give up his title.
The chief immediately added that the whole village are thankful for Lumienre and her followers for all the things they have been receiving and for blessing their family with a lot of members as well as good and lasting marriages. A smile grazed Clarence’s lips as he made a polite bow of thanks towards the chief.
The village chief saw that my curiosity has not been fully quelled yet so he explained further that the little house nearby was a chapel for the "Church of Lumienere" which believes in the existence of the goddess of light and creation. They believe that the goddess have never abandoned this world so they just need to help each other out until the goddess is no longer angry and withdraws punishment to this world.
Just as I was still pondering about the fact that a "church" or a religion in general exists in this world, Clarence, who looked to be in his 20s with a kind face and a countenance that stood out because his hair was golden in color and he had gray blue eyes. He was just way different than how all the other villagers looked like.
When he laid his eyes on me this time, he stared at me in a more unrestrained manner. I smiled in amusement as to how he looked to interested on me. You can practically feel the heat from his eyes.
He was looking at me as if he had found me familiar, somewhat he met before but I surely do not have any recollection of seeing him. Or, is there any chance that he can see my real face underneath the illusion magic? I guess I will just have to ask him in private soon.
