Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 395 - Dealing with troubles in Ersha (Part 3)
Chapter 395: Chapter 395 - Dealing with troubles in Ersha (Part 3)
At exactly noon, we were finally able to start distributing food to everybody. Each person proactively looked for bowls in their own homes while me and three other people that I have chosen, manned the food stations to make distributing food smoother. I will man the pots of porridge that I have already mixed with health potions (secretly) while the others will man the vegetable stir fry, juice and boiled egg stations. With the system in place, everybody was able to eat at half past noon.
While we were enjoying our meal, a sudden commotion erupted near the main gates of the town as a bunch of bandits went in like rats who smelled food. They invited themselves in and demanded that I cook again and give their camp two pots of porridge like I am some kind of servant in their eyes.
I smiled at the pests and waved my hand as the group of about 10 bandits went weak on their knees and planted face first on the ground with a loud thud. I think some of them broke their noses due to the sudden smell of blood but I don’t care. They screamed angrily and tried to stand up but they couldn’t as their bodies are now 10 times heavier than they were originally. A little gravity trick does the work.
As they squirmed angrily, I picked them up and shoved them in one corner. I warned them with a smile on my face, "Nobody disturbs my meal time. If anybody of you does it again, I will make sure nobody will ever find your bodies. It would be best for you to heed my warning while I am being cool about it."
I then turned around nonchalantly and continued with my meal. The other townspeople, realizing that the threat was dealt with just like that, all continued eating our sumptuous meals and chatting happily with others while the 10 villainy-looking bandits were glaring daggers at me while suffering in silence.
After our meals, everybody helped clean up the community kitchen area. After that was done quickly, everybody went back to their homes and started tending to their respective farm lands as well. As for me, I was again with the town chief together with three men. One was looking like he is in his late teens, the other somewhere in his 20s and lastly, the third one was a man in his 40s at most.
The chief introduced me to the three men who were named, Blyant, Lenuz and Asha, respectively. The chief said that these three are the most knowledgeable in terms of basic cures and are the ones who are first to help out whenever somebody gets sick or injured. I bowed to each of them and introduced myself again and this time including my identity as a botanist and an alchemist. After hearing my other specialties, the three immediately perked up and carried themselves better as if trying to get my approval so that they can become apprentices.
Since I am already an expert on both studies, I have the ability to take in apprentices, give them tests and certify them. If I am looking into making them at least basic healers, it can be done in three days at most. I can definitely spare that much time for this town if it means a higher survivability for everybody in here.
I told them that the lessons will start today but it will first be more of a shadowing or learning by watching type of lesson before we move on to studying in a more in-depth way through books and personal practice which can be done later and on the following days. I told them that if they do well and pass my tests, I can have them registered as basic healers which only requires basic knowledge on identifying common illnesses and their cures, plants and their uses, how to turn plants to effective medicine and how to administer cures to patients.
As I have said earlier, the basic certification requires knowledge on how to identity and cure basic health issues which includes treating mild wounds, eye infections, diarrhea, cough, colds, skin irritation, dizziness, and other bodily pains. The treatments for these are easy and luckily, the herbs needed to make the cures are also available in the forests surrounding this area.
Once the chief and my three apprentices are gone, I turned around and my previously jolly and kind demeanor is gone. I went to one isolated corner in the outskirts of the town near the wall then started digging a 3-meter deep pit which was rectangular in shape. It was 8 meters by 6 meters with vertical, solid and smooth walls to make it impossible for someone to climb out. I placed a spell to make the inside very dim and also soundproof so the other bandits do not know where their companions are.
Since I am still quite nice, I placed a layer of grass underneath to keep the place warm and dry at least. I also placed a few bottles of water there so as not to kill my 10 new prisoners.
Next thing I did, was I pulled my little prisoners by twos and unceremoniously dumped them inside the pit. I literally tossed them in but of course, I used a bit of magic so they do not hit the bottom of the pit and injure themselves. I just want to scare them with the fall inside a dark pit. I found it a rare source of entertainment at this time.
I would have loved to place bloody drag marks and bloody puddles in the town to deter bandits by letting them think that we killed off their companions but I think that the townspeople will be scared more than the bandits would so I decided against it. I also don’t want to touch the bandits by tying them up one by one so the "Pit" option was the best I could think of.
After the clinic was set up, the rest of the afternoon was used to check on each and every resident of the town for any health issues. The reward for coming in for a checkup whether you are healthy or not is a loaf of the cornbread I made earlier.
Food is a good driver for action as all the residents went out in batches and fell in line to get themselves checked at the clinic. As earlier agreed upon, my three apprentices were the ones I checked first and then they will need to assist me while observing later as I check the other residents to learn more about healing practices.
