Infinite Professions-Chapter 52 - 48: Wind and Thunder
Several years later, Wind Thunder Town.
It’s a small town at the foot of the Wind Thunder Mountain Range.
The Wind Thunder Mountain Range is located at the eastern borders of the Spirit Control Continent. Crossing this range from west to east brings the vast and boundless Eastern Ocean into view.
The ocean is vast and dangerous, with frequent invasions from tsunamis and storms, and even powerful spirit beasts from its depths landing on shores. The Eastern Ocean is particularly so, with few inhabitants in coastal areas.
Due to its unique geographical advantages, the Wind Thunder Mountain Range has become a natural barrier against tsunamis and storms. Added to abundant biological and mineral resources within the mountains, many tribes live by them, ultimately establishing a human kingdom named after Wind Thunder.
However, in Spirit Calendar 13250, the Dark Beast Tide erupted in the eastern part of the continent, with the Wind Thunder Kingdom being the first to bear the brunt and was annihilated under the iron hooves of the Dark Demon King Beast. The Wind Thunder Mountain Range was thus shrouded in dark shadows, until the year 13260 when the Dark Demon King Beast was sealed by the Celestial Destiny Spirit Master.
Now, it is Spirit Calendar 13269, nine years since darkness retreated. The Wind Thunder Mountain Range has rejuvenated, with remnants of the Wind Thunder Kingdom and numerous displaced refugees, gathering thieves from the mountains and forests, trading guilds, and various emerging forces converging here.
Thus, Wind Thunder Town was born. Although it cannot compare with the towns in the center of the continent, overall, it’s considered thriving.
Because no new kingdom has emerged, a power vacuum in governance has led to a mix of opportunistic factions, turning this town into a land of opportunities.
A large number of Spirit Control Masters came at the news, hoping to carve a path to advancement in this chaotic region.
Thus, Wind Thunder Tavern.
This is the largest tavern in Wind Thunder Town. It is said the tavern owner is a Spirit-level Spirit Master. Through his diligent management, this tavern has gradually become the entertainment and administrative center of Wind Thunder Town, with many Spirit Control Masters gathering here to take on tasks published by the tavern.
"One cup of Wind Thunder Wine!"
A man walked into the tavern, attracting everyone’s attention.
He was a man dressed in black, with a stern visage, imposing stature, and a brow revealing a forceful and domineering aura. This sense of power from inside out led many to discreetly retract their gaze.
"Your Wind Thunder Wine!"
A scantily clad attendant delivered the tavern’s signature drink.
The man tossed a few Crystal Coins, sitting alone at the counter to drink.
Everyone returned their gaze, the tavern resuming its usual chatter, with rumors spreading like alcohol.
"Have you heard? The little princess of Wind Thunder Kingdom has received great help from Earth Kingdom and is about to return to the Wind Thunder Mountain Range to rebuild Wind Thunder Kingdom."
"What little princess? The Wind Thunder Kingdom has been gone for over twenty years, what princess are you talking about?"
"Bah, if you want to benefit from it, just say it directly, stop talking about Wind Thunder Kingdom."
"It’s said that the little girl is not only the descendant of Wind Thunder Kingdom but also the companion of the last Celestial Destiny Spirit Master ’Chapter of Guardian’, who is a noble of Earth Kingdom. So, Earth Kingdom has decided to help them rebuild Wind Thunder Kingdom."
"Looks like the winds in Wind Thunder Mountain Range are about to change."
"Who issued the task of capturing young Wind Thunder Celestial Eagles, dare they to think of that?"
"Wind Thunder Celestial Eagles are Monarch species spirit beasts located at the peak of Wind Thunder Mountain. Upon adulthood, they generally possess Tier Five Monarch strength, and they’re family-type spirit beasts. Besides Emperor-level Spirit Masters, who dares mess with their fledglings?"
"Legend has it that the royal family of Wind Thunder Kingdom signed an eternal contract with a Wind Thunder Divine Eagle that evolved into an Emperor species, allowing anyone with Wind Thunder Royal Family bloodline to ascend Wind Thunder Mountain and contract a Wind Thunder Celestial Eagle."
"Forget it, it’s just foolish talk that many believe in. For years, people have gone to Wind Thunder Mountain, providing food for those birds. I even suspect those birds spread the news themselves."
"Isn’t it fitting? Let the princess ascend Wind Thunder Mountain. If she can contract a Wind Thunder Celestial Eagle, it’ll prove she’s the heir of Wind Thunder Kingdom. Otherwise..."
"Stop dreaming. Do you think she’s like you? She’s the companion of the ’Chapter of Guardian’, backed by Earth Kingdom and Celestial Destiny Spirit Master. Contracting a Wind Thunder Celestial Eagle is no difficulty for her."
The crowd discussed hot topics recently.
"Who cares about Wind Thunder Kingdom? Such affairs of great figures have little to do with us common folk. Instead of pondering over those chaotic events, we should worry about the prices. Recently, everything has been rising, how can one survive like this?"
"Isn’t it because of the Wind Thunder Kingdom matter? Now Wind Thunder Mountain Range is dominated by various factions. Rebuilding Wind Thunder Kingdom will surely lead to conflicts and even wars with these factions, causing natural price inflation."
"Hey, who issued the bounty to conquer Sand Beast Valley?"
"Who else but Luo Clan?"
"Have the grudges between the two gone this far?"
"Luo Clan was originally Wind Thunder Town’s largest meat supplier, monopolizing over fifty percent of the town’s meat supply business, even Spirit Beast House has to source from them."
"But five years ago, an Upper-level Spirit Master from the west exterminated the Black Wind Thieves in Black Wind Valley and massively bred Sand Beasts there, raising the breeding scale in a few years to rival that of Luo Clan, thus renaming Black Wind Valley to Sand Beast Valley."
"Due to Sand Beast Valley’s existence, the price of Sand Beasts has remained stable these years, even showing a tendency to decrease, which dissatisfied Luo Clan greatly, leading to repeated conflicts with Sand Beast Valley, all repelled by the Valley Master."
"It’s said the Valley Master has a Tier Three Elite Species Abnormal Sand Beast. Luo Clan’s Upper-level Spirit Master challenged several times, all resulting in defeats."
"Why keep fighting despite failing multiple times?"
"Perhaps they sought some new support?"
"Recently, Sand Beast Valley aggressively poached Luo Clan’s tenants, claiming a large batch originally belonging to Luo Clan. No wonder Luo Clan can’t stand it."
"Bah, it’s Luo Clan’s own fault. If they treated their tenants better, didn’t exploit them ruthlessly, would so many have gone over to Sand Beast Valley?"
"Alright, alright, enough talk. The Beast Fighting Competition is about to begin, hurry and place your bets."
The atmosphere suddenly shifted, everyone stood up, heading to the tavern’s large underground Beast Fighting Arena.
In the arena, a lady dressed even more provocatively held a crystal stone-made loudspeaker, hosting the event.
"Welcome to the Beast Fighting Competition. Today, we’ll determine the King of Beast Fighting in Wind Thunder Town through the final match."
"Now, please welcome the previous King of Beast Fighting, our most outstanding Upper-level Spirit Master in Wind Thunder Town—Lei Hong!"
"And his challenger, a traveler from outside the town, the mysterious Upper-level Spirit Master—Martial Madman!"
"Now, please welcome the two Spirit Control Masters to the stage for the showdown!"
