Infinite Professions-Chapter 41 - 37: Sudden Arrival
A few days later, Xingyi Society, Martial Arts Dojo.
"Senior Brother Shen, you’re here?"
"Hello, Senior Brother Shen!"
"Junior..."
Shen Hex walked into the dojo, greeted by many, mostly first-year freshmen, but also quite a number of second and third-year seniors.
Of course, there were also many who ignored him, even turning away with a cold demeanor, unwilling to be under the same roof as him.
This was also understandable.
Three months ago, based on his performance against Zhang Hua and the intermediary efforts of Zhong Qin, Xingyi Society finally agreed to his membership conditions.
After joining, he repeated his tactics, guiding both new and older students, earning a large amount of goodwill.
But he wasn’t Imperial Coins, so he couldn’t please everyone. Many disliked or even hated him, illustrating a polarized situation.
But it didn’t matter; he wasn’t concerned because these people’s opinions didn’t affect him at all.
The reason he did these things was very clear — to showcase himself.
A tall tree catches the wind; being too flamboyant isn’t a good thing.
But sometimes, you must be flamboyant.
A tree may face stormy weather, but if you can’t stand out from the obscure undergrowth, you won’t even have the chance to face such storms, growing only as a powerless weed, preyed upon by insects.
As a planet still in a colonial stage, the safety coefficient of Yunlan Star wasn’t high. While not life-threatening every day, dangers lurked everywhere. Even at an advanced school like Tianbei Second Middle School, absolute safety couldn’t be assured.
Shen Hex was a person who remained vigilant in a safe environment. He wouldn’t abandon his progressive mindset just because of temporary peace, so he was bound to develop and grow. In such an environment, the safest way to grow was to demonstrate his value.
Within a certain scope, the higher your value, the better your treatment and security.
This was also the reason Shen Hex used Zhang Hua as a stepping stone. He wasn’t someone who liked being in the limelight, but to achieve his goals, he didn’t mind putting on a show.
Now that his goal had been achieved, Xingyi Society recognized his value and was even willing to agree to several excessive membership demands.
If Xingyi Society was like this, then it wouldn’t be long before his personal records would appear on the desks of the school’s top administrators, and he’d be identified as a valuable, cultivatable candidate.
This way, he could secure a certain amount of development resources and security at Tianbei Second Middle School, growing steadily until advancing to university in six years.
This was his high school plan, and it’s also the high school plan for the majority, or accurately, the way for all lower-class citizens to possibly transition classes, even if it’s hard to achieve.
"Senior Brother Shen, Senior Sister Zhong is waiting for you in room six."
"Alright, thank you!"
"..."
Shen Hex arrived at room six, opened the door, and immediately saw two people inside: Zhong Qin and a woman he didn’t recognize.
"You finally made it!"
Zhong Qin came to welcome him and introduced him, "Let me introduce you, this is my good classmate Meng Qian. Meng Qian, this is Shen Hex, the Head Coach Shen I’ve been telling you about."
"Hello!"
Meng Qian extended her hand proactively, "I’ve heard a lot about Coach Shen from Zhong Qin. It’s finally good to meet you in person. Please give me your guidance."
"You’re too kind, Miss Meng."
Shen Hex shook her hand and directly got to the point, "Is Miss Meng’s coaching request about condensing Gang Qi?"
"That’s right!"
Meng Qian nodded, "I hope to be like Zhong Qin. I’ve prepared the fee and everything."
"Then let’s begin."
Upon hearing this, Shen Hex said no more and directly started today’s private coaching session.
High schools have a common dilemma, which is the shortage of teaching resources.
Unlike universities, there are almost no admission bars besides tuition fees in high schools; anyone can attend. Some lower-ranked high schools don’t even have tuition barriers.
This leads to a strain on teaching resources. After all, to be a high school teacher requires, at minimum, being a Tier Four Professional, who belongs to the middle class on a remote star like Yunlan Star.
Thus, they all have their pursuits, and it’s impossible to devote all their time and energy to academics. They also need to cultivate and seek advancement.
This limits the cultivation teachers can provide students. Otherwise, schools wouldn’t hire teaching assistants, establish societies, and think of ways to increase resources.
But even so, this still can’t change the dilemma. Students receive too few teaching resources, so outside coaching agencies flourish and have booming business even though there are schools, teachers, and societies.
However, this suits Shen Hex’s development. One condition he proposed to Xingyi Society was allowing him to teach for a fee in the society.
This condition was somewhat excessive, as the society’s original goal was to increase resources through seniors guiding juniors, and fee-based teaching wasn’t allowed in student societies, at least not on the surface.
But given his performance, Xingyi Society agreed to this condition and even offered to connect him with customers.
However, he had to reciprocate by only charging on key points like True Qi to Gang Transformation, while conducting other training for free, and also representing Xingyi Society in some competitions.
It’s barely considered a win-win.
After half a day of private coaching,
Meng Qian left satisfied, having transferred 500,000 Imperial Coins into Shen Hex’s account in advance to reserve the following coaching sessions.
After Meng Qian left, Zhong Qin teased, looking at the shirtless Shen Hex, "That’s a rich lady. Keep working hard, and you’ll have plenty to earn in the future."
"I’m doing legitimate business, so don’t make it sound so ambiguous."
Shen Hex shook his head, put on his shirt, and was about to leave.
"Who’s being improper?"
Zhong Qin chuckled teasingly, following him outside.
As they reached the hall, they saw a group of people approaching, led by a young man.
"President?"
Zhong Qin raised an eyebrow, exclaiming in surprise.
Shen Hex, however, remained unfazed, walking directly toward them.
As they approached, they brushed by each other. The young man’s lips curled into a small smile, while a woman beside him turned cold, turning back, "Didn’t you see the president? Aren’t you going to greet him?"
However, Shen Hex didn’t look back, nor did he stop, continuing on his way.
"You!!"
The woman’s eyes turned icy, ready to pursue.
"It’s okay."
The young man stopped her, "Let him go."
The woman, hearing this, suppressed her resentment, biting her lip as they left.
Elsewhere, outside the dojo, Zhong Qin caught up with Shen Hex. "That man just now is our Xingyi Society president, Li Jinqi, and the woman beside him is Zhang Hua’s sister, another of our society’s vice presidents, Zhang Yun. I hear they’re a couple, so be cautious of them causing trouble for you."
"Is that so?"
Shen Hex responded but didn’t seem the slightest perturbed.
The temple may be small, yet full of mischief; the water may be shallow, but there are still many turtles. Though the water at Tianbei Second Middle School isn’t shallow, there are still plenty of turtles.
But it didn’t concern him much; he planned not to leave the campus for six years, with the school shielding him from every demon and monster; should they dare, let them break in...
"Boom!!!"
Just as the thought formed, a sudden loud noise stopped Shen Hex in his tracks, making him look up at the sky.
In the sky, wind and clouds rapidly swirled into a vortex, darkness within and faint flickering of black light, resembling entwined dark thunder.
Simultaneously, a piercing alarm sounded throughout the entire campus.
"Terrorist attack, terrorist attack!"
"All students and staff, immediately head to the safety zone."
"..."
