Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 949: A real waste
The monsters, upon suffering high damage or receiving critical blows, exploded in a burst of blue-colored blood. This peculiar reaction triggered a rain of blood across the surroundings.
This recurrent pattern sparked suspicion; it appeared that these monsters were designed or modified in such a way that their blood carried a specific contagion. The blue-colored blood, when dispersed upon their demise, seemed to pose a potential danger. It suggested that the creatures were possibly engineered to infect or contaminate those who came into contact with the blood.
Curious and wary of this phenomenon, Rain employed his Magic Eyes to inspect the blue-hued blood. To his surprise, he didn't discern any traces of the corruption typically associated with the sins' magic. However, what he did find was equally foreboding was something entirely new and ominous, a hint of an unsettling presence or influence that he couldn't quite pinpoint or identify.
The aura in the blood looked alive…
"Make sure to keep those things away from us," Rain said. "Go and support Asche and the others."

Rain made it blatantly clear that he didn't want to lead anymore, so when they saw him giving such orders, everyone realized that those creatures were bad news… just as he said that, the monsters began to run more wildly toward the platform and avoid more attacks, before long, they began to use ice breaths… but soon everyone realized that it wasn't the case, they fired something liquid toward them.
Branden, Esmeralda, Orcis, and Lorene's children worked fast and summoned earth walls to block those attacks. Thanks to that, they saw what they were capable of… the liquid froze the earth's walls instantly and then shattered in the air like glass before falling apart.
"That looks like nitrogen…" Rain thought.
Nitrogen is an element that typically exists as a gas at room temperature. When cooled to extremely low temperatures, around minus 196 degrees Celsius or minus 321 degrees Fahrenheit, nitrogen gas transforms into a liquid state. Liquid nitrogen is incredibly cold and can cause severe frostbite or cold burns upon direct contact with skin or organic matter.
It's commonly used in cryotherapy, where extremely cold temperatures are utilized for medical or scientific purposes…
Rain never tried to use that alone, but it seemed very powerful and useful… he wondered if it would belong to water or wind magic. Either way, it was something that he could try to experiment with later.
"It is similar to the blood that we studied… at least the texture," Nigel said.
"Yeah, I remember…" Rain said.
The tension in Rain's mental landscape increased… everyone was aware that the dragons had some sort of connection with the dragons that destroyed Earth fifty thousand years ago, but they didn't think that they would find that kind of similarity now. Moreover, it looked like the lizard spawns had taken over the area close to the mountains… they never stopped coming.
"At least we are gaining a lot of experience," Asche said.
Amidst the relentless encounter with the horde of monsters, Rain and his group were locked in a half-hour struggle, trying to fend off the seemingly endless creatures. Amidst this, they finally received a response from Isa, only to realize that they were not alone in facing this overwhelming horde.
Isa's message confirmed their suspicions, the creatures they were battling were widespread across that part of the continent.
Rain and those inside his mental landscape came to a sobering realization: these new dragons were somehow responsible for the sudden appearance of these new lizards, spreading chaos and danger throughout the land. This revelation added a layer of complexity to their situation, hinting that the current incident and the past were connected as well…
"Use my power, and you will turn around this situation," The woman in the darkness said.
"No thanks, too risky," Rain said while rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "These beasts aren't emitting a lot of cold, so they aren't contributing to the domain of the dragons… how these fuckers can spawn so many of those freaks and still use their magic to freeze the whole world?"
"Their mana regeneration speed should be insane… still, it would make more sense for them to use all of it to freeze the world instead of spawning those things," Larisa said. "Unless both things aren't connected… this makes me have a bad feeling."
Rain didn't want to keep thinking about that, so he decided to focus on controlling the flying platform.
At the same time, he kept telling Liss to give and ask for updates from Isa, they were able to fight off the enemies as well, but the situation wasn't improving in either side… eventually, they could see the mountains in the distance and they could tell that the number of the spawns were increasing.
"We should stop here and deal with all of them… fighting two enemies in two different directions will be too dangerous," Roan said. "If the ice dragons sense our presence… we need to avoid that."
"They already know where we are… that is why these monsters keep coming," Rain explained. "Still, I suppose we don't have any chance… we will stop here for two hours and see if their numbers will decrease. Those fuckers could have spawned only so many monsters in the last two weeks.
Rain decided to check things with everyone as they fought, but he didn't have to do it… everyone used their best long ranged attacks and killed the beasts before any blood could get closer to them.
Thanks to that, Rain had the chance to take a better look at the corpses… After a while, nothing really important happened to the bodies, but Rain couldn't be certain since the snow was quick to cover the bodies.
"The mana levels in the area are increasing fast thanks to their deaths," Larisa said.
"What a waste, all of that power would be yours if you used my relic," the woman in the darkness said.
"I already used the sins magic once to fight to my limits and it didn't work, so I won't make the same mistake twice," Rain declared.
