Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1150: Versus
Taking a deep breath, Rain focused on the opponent, his eyes sharp and attentive. He tried to analyze the situation, considering the potential threat posed by the bow-wielding adversary. The anger simmered beneath the surface, but for now, he channeled it into a more controlled determination. The shadows retreated, and Rain prepared to face the opponent in the strange arena.
"No need to hold back," Rain said.
"Try to get some answers from him first," Elisabetha said. "He is rather skinny, so he probably has been here for a while."
Rain nodded as he quickly moved toward the enemy… all of a sudden, the guy suddenly left his cover and fired an arrow straight at Rain's eyes. The arrow almost disappeared after being shot, only after it approached Rain's weakened domain he was able to see it and move his head to dodge it.
"I guess I can't do this too often…" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "It will be too suspicious. It is hard to imagine that the enemy didn't notice my domain, but maybe they are being lax now that they captured us… I just hope that everyone can realize this."
The enemy quickly hid behind the pillar and soon dashed toward another… as expected, covert tactics were pretty standard combat maneuvers even in other worlds.
Rain charged toward the opponent, his steps were heavy trying to propel him forward faster, but that caused more pain than anything since his body was weak when it touched the ground without the help of his domain.
Eventually, the enemy hid behind another pillar but soon left it while firing three arrows at the same time. That didn't seem like a technique that he was supposed to have already, considering the system, so he was using his own skills that he had as well.
At that distance, Rain didn't have time to dodge it. So, he just raised his arm and blocked the attack. The intense pain surged through Rain's left arm as the arrows pierced through, but he gritted his teeth, determined not to let it hinder him. Blood gushed from the wounds, staining his clothes crimson, but he paid no heed to the searing sensation.
Focused solely on his opponent, Rain unleashed his relentless assault.
"Why did you undo your domain?" Elisabetha asked.
"To make the enemies drop their guard, eventually," Rain thought.
The bow-wielding adversary widened his eyes in shock as Rain closed the distance rapidly. Panic flickered in the man's eyes as he attempted to retreat, summoning another arrow to defend himself. However, Rain leaped forward with a powerful drop kick. The forceful impact landed on the man's back, sending him sprawling forward, his attempted defense disrupted.
The opponent crashed to the ground, momentarily stunned by the unexpected attack. Rain, not wasting a moment, advanced to press his advantage. Despite the pain radiating from his injured arm, he put his legs on the arms of the enemy, pulled an arrow, and then pressed it against the jugular of that guy.
"Do you understand my words? Nod if you don't want to die," Rain said.
Rain could see the fear on the opponents' eyes… it was clear that he didn't understand his words. He could only understand the language of despair and the law of the jungle. After wounding Rain that much, he couldn't expect any mercy. In the end, Rain sighed and pierced the man's neck with the arrow.

Rain grabbed the bow of the opponent from his lifeless body and then let out a sigh. The bow was covered in blood now.
A new door opened ahead of him and Rain couldn't help but wonder why didn't he just trash all that by using his full power… his family and friends shouldn't be that far away, they would reunite fast and then they would be able to fight together… Still, was that really the best option?
"Did you get anything now?" Elisabetha asked. "My analytical skills aren't like Sakaki, so I can't help you with that."
"Nothing…" Rain said while heading to the next area. "Aside from some other similarities with the path system… the same amount of experience is necessary to level up myself, but the skills are different. They received half of the experience and sometimes not even that. This system is made to make the user gain as much experience as possible, even taking the skills of others that they kill."
"That would explain why that guy chose to fight you," Elisabetha said. "The special monster is probably something that two skilled people at your level would have to fight together to win."
Rain confirmed that when he crossed the door and soon found his next opponent.
His next opponent was a menacing hobgoblin. Towering over him, the creature was significantly larger, with bulging muscles and a fierce demeanor. The hobgoblin brandished a colossal club that looked capable of delivering devastating blows. Its crimson eyes fixated on Rain, exuding an aura of raw power and anger.
Rain couldn't help but feel a bit of annoyance at the sight of this adversary. The hobgoblin's thick, greenish skin and imposing stature hinted at its physical prowess. The giant club it wielded with ease suggested that brute force would be a significant factor in this encounter, and he was wounded.
The odds of facing such a foe alone while keeping his powers sealed seemed daunting, and Rain had to deal with that in a convincing way.
