— Within the Divine Palace of Ten Crosses, the home of Archangel Michael —

"My Lord," said an eight-winged Angel in the EX+ Rank. "Your daughter is moving around quite a lot as of late, and with company."

Archangel Michael leaned into the back of his sword-emblazoned throne of feathers and gold. "I know that, Sargon. But I'm not worried if that's why you're bringing it up."

"???"

"But my Lord," Sargon flashed a surprised look. "Whenever the young miss is accompanied by someone, you usually request that they be dealt with immediately. What is so different about this time??"

Archangel Michael placed a hand to his perfectly chiseled chin, leaning on it with a bored gleam in his dazzling golden-crossed gaze. "The son of the most talented human in history is the one who's accompanying my rebellious daughter. And as you know, with my Mind's Eye, I can see everything—from the Past to the Present to the Future—nothing eludes me. Everything… bores me…"

"My Lord…" Sargon murmured, seemingly realizing something important. "The one who accompanies the young miss is indeed who you speak of, but what I assume you don't know is that… he met with your Father."

"My Father…!?"

Archangel Michael's aloof facade shattered in an instant, with shock and bewilderment taking the place of his indifference.

'How could I not see it!?' he questioned. 'Even the past and futures of most Godlike entities cannot escape my foresight, so how could a meeting like that happen without my knowing!? Did Father manipulate something behind the scenes???'

The more Archangel Michael thought about it, the more questions surfaced.

He tried activating his Mind's Eye again, and though the brilliantly golden eye opened in between his brows, it didn't spin like usual. Something… novelbuddy.cσ๓

Something was wrong.

"T… This has never happened before," he muttered, the glowing halo above his head drifting out of orbit. "There's no choice then; I must discuss this with my elder sister."

"!!!"

"My Lord," said Sargon with a hesitant tone. "If you do something like that with the ongoing war between you and your brothers, then rumors are sure to circulate. By then, I'm afraid things will begin to… escalate."

Sharply turning to his right-hand man, Archangel Michael's long silvery golden hair began to flutter like a sea of jewels. "I have to, Sargon. Without knowing, I'll lose my way on the path I've chosen; my hopes of one day reaching my Father's level will never come to pass. My Sister will know the answers; she always does."

Sargon stared into his liege's serious gaze, a heavy sigh escaping his lips. "If that is so, then please allow me some time to lessen the impact that this meeting of yours will cause."

Calming down a little, Archangel Michael waved his large hands. "Very well, but get it done as quickly as possible. If my Father has a part to play in whatever's happening, then the more time wasted, the more likely we are to get left behind in the dark."

"Understood, My Lord," Sargon respectfully replied. "I'll complete this task to the best of my abilities. I'll also secretly begin getting into contact with Miss Mikaela; that way you won't have to randomly show up."

"Good," Archangel Michael praised. "Don't disappoint now."

"Of course, my Lord."

With that, things within the Divine Palace of Ten Crosses returned to normal.

— Years later (Heavenly Kingdom Time) —

"What do you mean, elder sister!?" Archangel Michael's exclamation echoed through the enormous halls of Paragon's Palace, home of Archangel Mikaela. "You're saying the son of that man is extremely favored by Father!?? But this hasn't happened since…"

"Yes," said Mikaela. "Father hasn't acted this way toward anyone since Joan D'arc, Jesus… and our big brother, the Fallen Angel Lucifer. But that doesn't change the fact that it's undoubtedly occurring."

Archangel Michael slumped into his chair, disbelief etched across his divinely handsome face. "If what you say is true, then that means this human's Destiny… So that's why my readings of him with Mind's Eye were incorrect. He's one of THEM."

"Yes," answered Mikaela. "Cassius Steele, son of Adam Steele, is a Fateless. A being who possesses no fate. An outlier to the tracks that we all tread along."

She wanted to mention that her daughter and his daughter had also found themselves intertwined with the Fateless boy, but even if he was her brother, she couldn't bring herself to trust him. Not with something as important as the well-being of her daughter in the line.

He wasn't allowed to know of her existence. The same went for anyone else whom she couldn't control.

"So, Big Sister…" Archangel Michael's voice dimmed. "What do we do…? Should we request a meeting with Father? He surely has his own plans for this boy, and we should know what those are; after all, the Fateless are unpredictable. And more often than not, they can permanently alter the course of entire Ascension Towers. You remember what happened to the Leviathans, don't you…?"

Archangel Mikaela sighed, shaking her head. "Even if what you say is true, there's no point," she said exasperatingly. "Father will not answer us. He hasn't for tens of thousands of years… Seeking the Path to Immortality has changed him…"

"...Yes…" Archangel Michael sighed alongside his sister, both of them recalling the last time they saw their Father. The fanatical expression he made was…

Never had they seen anyone so obsessed.

"Big Sister…"

"I know what you're about to ask," said Mikaela. "But no, I have no clue if this boy is one of the keys to Immortality that Father has been searching for. What I do, however, know is that the boy is riddled with mysteries, among which is his Bloodline; it makes no sense."

"What do you mean?"

Mikaela's eyes shimmered, finding it difficult to put her thoughts into words. "There's just something about it… Almost as if it defies the natural order of the Universe. Though I can't say for certain if what I sensed was little more than a stigmata.

The Fateless are extremely difficult to read…"
