Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 114: First Round of The Group Courage Test
Aiden nodded. He drew his spear and prepared to fight the group of elders from the Reinhard family.
The battle would be divided into three rounds, with each round matching one member of Aiden’s group against one member of the elders’ group.
If Aiden’s group won two rounds, then Aiden’s group would pass the test. Aiden and the others understood the rules.
"Alright. Let’s move to the arena," replied Henry.
He tapped his magic pouch and pulled out a blue slip. After activating the slip, everyone in the area instantly teleported to another location.
When Aiden opened his eyes, he and his group members were standing on another podium, while the four elders stood on a different one. The arena was circular with an area around it filled with spectator seats. Only Leonora, Jack, Henry, and Helen were watching the battle.
The first battle would begin with Aiden. Aiden jumped off the podium and revealed magical wings behind his back, surprising Henry and the others.
"His ability has improved so much. To bring out magical wings, a mage must at least be at the Magus stage," replied Henry.
"How did he manage to increase his strength so quickly in just two years?" Helen asked.
Henry shook his head; no one could say for sure where Aiden’s abilities came from. Perhaps Aiden had gone through many difficult journeys that had caused him and his members to grow rapidly.
"I didn’t expect you to be a mage," explained the elder, a man standing on the arena who would be Aiden’s opponent.
"I am a mage," Aiden revealed.
"Then come here and show me your abilities. I won’t ease my guard!" the elder man declared firmly.
The countdown ended, Aiden and the man clashed with each other. Although the elder before Aiden had not yet reached the Magus stage, he was skilled and able to attack Aiden.
Aiden saw the fireball attack. He flowed his magical energy into his spear and swung it sideways, splitting the fireball into two parts.
"What?" asked the elder, surprised.
The man jumped sideways, dodging the attack from Aiden’s spear. Henry narrowed his eyes, he saw something wrong with Aiden’s ability just now.
Helen looked at her father’s face; Henry would only react that way if something was wrong in the battle. Of course, Helen was curious and immediately asked her father.
"What’s wrong, Father?" Helen asked.
"I saw a golden glow in the magical energy of Aiden’s spear. Is light also his dominant element besides fire?" Henry asked.
Helen shook her head. As far as she remembered, Aiden only had one dominant element: fire. During the Main Test and training at Fire Fountain Hill, Aiden had shown no signs of having light as a dominant element.
"No. As far as I remember, he only has fire as his dominant element," explained Helen.
"This is strange. I’ve never been wrong before. That was definitely light."
"Let’s see how his abilities are," Henry said.
Aiden continued to fly using his abilities. He kept swinging his spear and sending light fire attacks forward. But the elder he was fighting was skilled enough to deal with Aiden’s attacks.
"You’re quite skilled, boy!" the man said firmly, smiling and nodding.
"I’m not done yet."
The young man tightened his grip on the spear he was holding. His eyes shone with a red aura emanating from his body. Henry saw that and was confident that Aiden was using his best ability.
"He seems to want to end this fight quickly," Henry replied.
[Magic Element: Fire Crimson]
With one powerful swing of his spear, he sent the red sickle forward with the momentum of powerful fire magic. The enormous size of the red sickle made the elder Aiden fought against a little scared.
"HAHA! With such power, you’re trying to defeat me quickly, huh?" the man asked.
His right hand pointed toward the floor, creating a strong magical defense that was able to withstand the power of the crimson sickle.
"Use all your abilities, boy!" the man said firmly, feeling confident that he could withstand Aiden’s attack.
"Sure. Don’t blame me," Aiden replied.
He reactivated his Fire Crimson ability and began slashing the air, creating four large crimson sickles aimed at the elder’s protective dome of fire.
Henry gasped, as did the elder. He saw not just one, but four crimson sickles flying towards him. With all his might, he tried to block all the attacks.
The four crimson scythes struck the fire dome, causing loud explosions and powerful magical energy to spread throughout the area. Aiden narrowed his eyes; his defenses were much stronger than those of a Peak Adept.
Due to the significant difference in strength, the man couldn’t hold out any longer. His fire dome shattered and a huge explosion occurred, shocking Henry and Helen.
Aiden flew low and removed his two magical wings. With a sideways swing of his hand, he blew away the black smoke and saw his opponent kneeling, wounded and helpless.
"What terrifying power," said the man.
"I’ve lost."
Aurora and the others cheered as Aiden defeated one of the elders of the Reinhard family. Henry clapped his hands and nodded slowly, recognizing Aiden’s abilities.
"Judging from his current abilities, he can definitely compete with other top-level mages," Henry replied.
"I’m very surprised. He even defeated Elder Lam without getting hurt," said Helen.
Henry turned to the right, looking at Aiden’s group. He asked the second participant from Aiden’s group to get ready. Aiden flew back to the podium, meeting them.
"This battle means a lot to us. However, I ask all of you not to transform solely for the sake of winning," explained Aiden.
"I understand."
Aiden chose Amber to be the second participant in the second round. He would save Aurora for the final battle. Meanwhile, Rachel and Joe would stand guard for them.
Amber took off her cloak and flew down, arriving in the arena while drawing her sword from its sheath. Now, Amber’s opponent was Elder Pietro.
"Listen to me, old man! I might hurt you, so surrender quickly," Amber said firmly, pointing her weapon forward.
"HAHA! You’re so arrogant; you haven’t seen what I’m capable of yet," Pietro explains.
The battle begins, with Amber and Pietro exchanging attacks. Sometimes Amber has to defend herself before counterattacking, and vice versa. Aiden continues to watch the fight from the podium where they’re watching.
"Amber... we know you can beat him."
