Immortal Supreme: Sovereign of the Grand Dao-Chapter 306: Meeting with Freya, A Fellow Enemy of the Heavens
Arthur decided to deal with the next thing on his mind.
Freya.
The girl with the rare Divine Fate Physique.
Someone who with such a physique should be a darling of the heavens but marked as an enemy instead.
To be honest, Arthur felt like meeting his family with all these heaven’s ’sinners’ he kept recruiting.
Freya had continued to cultivate within the inner world of the Golden Ring he received from the remnants of the Red Sky Sect.
Arthur also thought about Freya’s elder sister the Spirit Empress.
He was curious about how she survived the extinction of the Red Sky Sect.
Escaping from the clutches of the heavens?
He knows better than anyone how hard that is.
-----
Arthur soon entered the inner world of his golden ring. The space around him was serene and timeless. Soft golden light filled the area, creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
Before him, seated on a cushioned mat, was Freya. She had awakened from her deep cultivation state several hours ago. The golden aura of her Divine Fate Physique still lingered faintly around her, making her appear almost ethereal.
Freya was young. She looked to be around sixteen or seventeen years old. Her features were delicate and refined.
Long white hair cascaded down her back like flowing silk. Her eyes, a pale blue that seemed to hold depths of wisdom beyond her apparent age, gazed at Arthur with a mixture of curiosity and wariness.
She wore simple robes that had been provided within the ring’s dimension. Despite the simplicity, they suited her well.
There was an innocent quality about her. A freshness that came from someone who hadn’t been tainted by the harsh realities of the cultivation world for very long.
Arthur observed her quietly for a moment before speaking. "How are you feeling?"
Freya’s cheeks colored slightly. She looked down at her hands. "I’m... I’m well. Thank you for asking."
Her voice was soft. Gentle. There was a shy quality to it that reminded Arthur just how young she truly was, despite having been sealed for thousands of years.
"The cultivation helped stabilize my physique," Freya continued. She glanced up at Arthur briefly before looking away again.
"The energy from the heavenly phenomenon... it was overwhelming at first. But now I feel more balanced."
Arthur nodded. "That’s good to hear."
Silence settled between them. Not uncomfortable, but weighted with unspoken questions.
Finally, Freya gathered her courage and looked directly at Arthur. "Why did you help me? The Guardian of the Red Sky Sect said you would protect me, but... I don’t understand why you agreed."
Arthur considered his response carefully. "Several reasons. The Guardian made a compelling case. The rewards were substantial. And..."
He paused. "You’re like me in a certain way. An enemy of the heavens."
Freya’s eyes widened slightly. She hadn’t expected such frank honesty. "You sensed that about me?"
"It’s hard not to," Arthur replied. "When the Heavenly Dao’s eye opened and searched the world, you should have been exposed. But you weren’t. Something protected you."
He didn’t mention that it was his own fate gem that had shielded her. That information was still too sensitive to share.
Freya bit her lip. "The Divine Fate Physique is both a blessing and a curse. Those who possess it are usually favored by the Grand Dao. They’re given opportunities, luck, and destiny that others can only dream of."
"But not you," Arthur observed.
"No," Freya confirmed quietly. "Not me. I don’t know why, but the Grand Dao has never favored me. If anything, it seems... hostile. As if my very existence is an affront to the natural order."
She looked down at her hands again. "That’s why the Red Sky Sect risked everything to change my fate. They knew I would die young if they didn’t intervene. The sect master... she was kind to me. She treated me like a daughter."
Pain flashed across Freya’s features. "And because of me, the sect was destroyed. Branded as sinners. Hunted down and annihilated."
"That wasn’t your fault," Arthur said firmly. "The sect made their choice. They knew the risks and consequences. Don’t dishonor their sacrifice by drowning in guilt."
Freya looked up at him. Tears glistened in her eyes but she blinked them back. "You’re right. I know you’re right. But it’s hard not to feel responsible."
Arthur moved closer and sat down across from her. "I understand. But dwelling on the past won’t change it. What matters now is what you do moving forward."
"What I do moving forward?" Freya repeated. She looked uncertain. "I don’t even know what that means. I’ve been sealed for so long. The world has changed. Everything I knew is gone."
"Then you’ll learn about the new world," Arthur said simply. "And you’ll decide what kind of life you want to live."
Hope flickered in Freya’s eyes. "Is that really possible? Can I truly be free?"
"That’s why I wanted to speak with you today," Arthur replied. "The ring you’ve been residing in has kept you hidden and safe. But it’s also been a prison in its own way."
He extended his hand. Energy flowed from his palm. The restrictions woven into the ring’s dimension began to unravel. "I’m releasing those restrictions. You’ll be able to manifest outside the ring. Move freely. Live normally."
Freya’s breath caught. "You’re... you’re giving me freedom?"
"With conditions," Arthur clarified. "You’ll still be under my protection. There are forces out there that would harm you if they discovered your existence and your physique. So you’ll need to stay close and follow certain guidelines."
"But yes," he continued. "Within those boundaries, you’re free to do as you wish."
Tears finally spilled down Freya’s cheeks. She quickly wiped them away. "Thank you. I don’t... I don’t know how to repay such kindness."
"You don’t need to repay anything," Arthur said. "Just live well. Grow strong. And when the time comes that you can help me, do so. That’s enough."
Freya nodded earnestly. "I will. I promise I will."
Arthur stood. "Come with me. There are some things we need to arrange."
