Chapter 299: Meeting Balor, The Progress of the First Disciple

Arthur thought of Freya, the girl with the Fate Physique.

Now that he has fully restored his original past life memories there are many this he can understand.

’If I can make use of it properly...’

Arthur decided to push that thought for later and focused on his goal for today.

’Hmm, if it was when I spent time on Earth, those productivity gurus would have recommended cold showers and morning meditations.’

’Social Media...crazy indeed.’

Then he summoned a servant and gave simple instructions. "Inform Balor that I wish to see him. Have him meet me in the eastern training hall."

The servant bowed. "At once, Your Highness."

Arthur made his way through the mansion. The morning sun was fully up now. Light streamed through windows and illuminated the hallways in warm gold.

He arrived at the eastern training hall before Balor did. It was a large, open space designed for martial practice. High ceilings. Reinforced floors. Arrays built into the walls to contain damage from techniques.

Arthur stood in the center of the hall. His hands clasped behind his back. His posture relaxed but alert.

He didn’t have to wait long. He had already scheduled for this meeting today so Balor was already somewhere in the royal palace.

Soon.

The doors opened and Balor entered.

Arthur’s first and only current disciple had changed since they’d last time they met one on one in the Heavenly Sword Sect.

That was before he left the Heavenly Sword Sect to return to his Royal Identity. Looking at Balor now, a number of things had changed.

He looked older somehow. More mature. The youthful uncertainty that had been present when they first met was mostly gone now.

Balor’s cultivation had advanced significantly as well. Arthur could sense it immediately. The energy flowing through his disciple’s meridians was denser. More refined.

Better controlled.

’Good,’ he nodded mentally. This showed that Balor had not been slacking off.

Balor stopped a respectful distance away and bowed deeply. "Master. You summoned me."

"I did," Arthur confirmed. He gestured for Balor to straighten. "I wanted to check on your progress before the secret realm opens. How has your cultivation been developing?"

Balor straightened and met Arthur’s gaze. There was confidence there now. Real confidence born from growth and achievement.

"It’s been going well, Master," Balor replied. "Since the tournament ended, I’ve been focusing on consolidating my foundation. Making sure my advancement is stable rather than rushed."

Arthur nodded with approval. "Good. That shows wisdom. Many cultivators make the mistake of advancing too quickly and leaving weaknesses in their foundation."

"You taught me that," Balor said simply. "Your lessons have guided my training even when you weren’t physically present."

Arthur walked in a slow circle around Balor. Observing. Analyzing. His divine sense swept over his disciple carefully.

The foundation was solid. Very solid. Balor had indeed taken the time to consolidate properly. His meridians were clear and strong. His dantian was stable. The flow of his qi was smooth and natural.

"Show me your sword technique," Arthur instructed. "The one I taught you. Let’s see how you’ve refined it."

Balor nodded. He drew his sword in one smooth motion. The blade sang as it left the scabbard. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Then he moved. His body flowed through the forms Arthur had taught him months ago. Each strike was precise. Each movement economical. There was no wasted motion. No unnecessary flourish.

The technique had been completely internalized. Balor wasn’t just performing it. He was living it. Making it his own while keeping the core principles intact.

Arthur watched with satisfaction. This was what a true disciple should be. Someone who took teachings and made them part of themselves. Who grew beyond simple imitation into genuine understanding.

When Balor finished the sequence, he sheathed his sword and turned to face Arthur again. There was a slight sheen of sweat on his forehead but his breathing was controlled.

"You’ve improved significantly," Arthur said. His tone carried genuine approval. "The technique is almost unrecognizable from when I first taught it to you. You’ve made it your own."

Balor’s face showed pleasure at the praise. "Thank you, Master. I’ve been practicing it every day without fail."

"It shows," Arthur replied. He walked closer and placed a hand on Balor’s shoulder briefly. "I’m proud of your progress. You’re developing into a true swordsman."

The simple gesture and words clearly meant a great deal to Balor. His eyes brightened with emotion that he quickly controlled.

Arthur stepped back and his expression became more serious. "The Martial Emperor Secret Realm will be dangerous. Far more dangerous than anything you’ve faced before. Are you prepared?"

"I am," Balor said firmly. "I won’t let you down, Master."

"I’m not worried about you letting me down," Arthur replied. "I’m worried about you surviving. The secret realm will attract competitors from all five continents. Many of them will be stronger than you. Some will have no qualms about killing to secure treasures."

He paused to let that sink in. "You’ll be leading the disciples from the Heavenly Sword Sect. That means you’re responsible for their safety as well as your own. Do you understand the weight of that?"

Balor’s expression grew more serious. "I understand, Master. I’ll do everything in my power to keep them safe."

Arthur nodded. He reached into his storage ring and pulled out several items. Small jade bottles. A defensive talisman. A formation plate.

"These will help," Arthur said. He handed them to Balor one by one. "The bottles contain healing pills. High quality ones that can mend severe injuries quickly. Use them if you or your fellow disciples are hurt."

Balor accepted each item carefully. His eyes widened slightly as he recognized the quality of what he was being given.

"The talisman is a defensive treasure," Arthur continued. "It will activate automatically if you’re in mortal danger. It can block one attack at the Martial Ancestor level. Only one, so don’t rely on it completely. But it should save your life if the worst happens."
