Immortal Supreme: Sovereign of the Grand Dao-Chapter 282: Checking Out the Rising Dragon Rankings
As they reviewed the rankings together in the luxurious private hall, Arthur’s eyes continued moving down the list with focused attention.
Each entry contained detailed information about the rankers. His gaze moved methodically from one name to the next.
Then it stopped suddenly at rank thirty-seven. A familiar name appeared there that caught his attention immediately and made him pause.
Williams Dayspear.
Arthur remembered that name well. Very well indeed. The memory was still fresh in his mind.
He’d met this person during his travels in the Southern Continent months ago when he was exploring various regions.
It had been an interesting encounter that tested his abilities. They’d fought over a treasure his last incarnation as Mortal Emperor had left behind in a hidden location.
The treasure had been valuable and powerful. Arthur had defeated him decisively in that battle. The fight hadn’t lasted very long at all.
Williams had claimed to be from another continent at the time. Arthur once wondered about the treasure he used to arrive here.
But seeing his name on this official list confirmed that story was actually true. The man really was from another continent.
Arthur made mental notes about other noteworthy rankers as well. His eyes scanned the entries carefully and methodically.
At rank two was a sword prodigy from the Central Continent. The entry described his techniques as unmatched among the younger generation across all continents.
His sword mastery was supposedly legendary in his region. Rank five specialized in illusion techniques that were apparently devastating.
According to the scroll, his illusions could trap even Martial Emperors in false realities they couldn’t escape from.
That was genuinely impressive and dangerous. Rank twelve had a rare ice physique that could freeze spiritual energy itself.
The description mentioned entire battlefields turning to ice when he fought seriously.
He began discussing potential threats with Anastasia and Helia who stood beside him.
Both women leaned closer to see what he was pointing at on the scroll. "This one at rank five could be troublesome," he said, pointing to the entry about the illusion master.
"Illusion techniques are always difficult to deal with in combat. They attack the mind rather than the body. Defending against them requires different skills."
Anastasia nodded in agreement but she noticed something odd about Arthur’s tone. Arthur’s voice wasn’t worried at all.
There was no concern in it. He spoke about these geniuses the same way someone might discuss interesting insects in a collection.
Not as real threats to himself or his plans. Just interesting specimens to observe and study.
Helia noticed it too. Her sharp eyes moved from the scroll to Arthur’s face carefully.
"Young Master doesn’t seem concerned about any of them," she observed quietly. "Not even the top ten rankers."
Arthur smiled slightly at her perceptive comment. "They’re talented. Very talented in fact. I won’t deny that. But talent alone isn’t everything in cultivation." His voice was calm and confident without any arrogance.
"There are other factors that matter much more in real combat situations. Experience. Wisdom. Hidden cards."
Anastasia and Helia understood immediately why he felt this way about the competition.
Arthur was ranked first on the entire list without having ever gone all out in public. That fact alone said everything about the gap between him and the others.
Whatever power he truly possessed remained hidden beneath the surface. These other geniuses had shown their full strength to earn their rankings on this list.
They’d fought publicly in tournaments. Demonstrated their abilities for everyone to see. Arthur hadn’t needed to do any of that to reach first place.
His eyes moved to his own entry on the list. He read the description about himself with interest and amusement. It was well-researched compared to most entries.
[Arthur Hartfield, unknown dragon related bloodline, possible physique. Cultivation: Peak Half-Step Martial Emperor with Nine-Star Foundation. Mastered two or more concepts - sword, wind, and possibly more. Powerful body cultivation comparable to the strongest Half-Step Martial Emperor. Prince of Hartfield Empire, Location: Southern Continent.]
Arthur’s smile widened slightly as he read through his own description. The information was accurate in what it stated but woefully incomplete overall.
They didn’t know about many of his other abilities that he kept hidden. His past life memories as the Immortal Supreme. His multiple special constitutions.
The Gems and their incredible powers. All his hidden trump cards remained completely secret from public knowledge. The people who compiled this list had no idea about his true capabilities.
"They don’t know half of what I can do," Arthur said quietly. His voice carried genuine amusement. "Not even a quarter really."
He decided to boast a little bit. Not like they could guess the extent of his abilities in a million years anyway.
Anastasia read the entry again more carefully. Even this incomplete information painted a picture of someone terrifying and overwhelming.
Someone who stood at the absolute peak of the younger generation across all continents. And this was just what people could observe publicly from his known actions.
"The other geniuses must be worried," she said thoughtfully. "Seeing this description would make anyone cautious about facing you in combat. No one wants to fight someone with this kind of reputation and unknown abilities."
Arthur rolled up the jade scroll carefully. The jade surface was smooth and cool under his fingers.
"Good. Let them be cautious and hesitant. It makes things easier for me as they would save me the trouble of taking them out. I would prefer more peace and quite"
Still, fear and uncertainty were useful tools in his arsenal. If his enemies hesitated before attacking, that gave him significant advantages in any conflict.
He didn’t want to have to use his true powers if he didn’t have to..
He is still on guard against the Heavenly Dao after all.
Helia looked at the rolled scroll with interest. "Young Master, will you be targeting any of these people specifically in the secret realm?"
Arthur considered the question carefully before answering. "Perhaps. It depends on the situation we find ourselves in. If they have treasures I want, then yes. If they stay out of my way, I have no reason to bother them unnecessarily."
"What about this Williams Dayspear?" Anastasia asked curiously. "Since you mentioned you have defeated him before, will he seek for a rematch in the secret realm?"
"Possibly," Arthur replied honestly. "He seemed like the competitive type based on our previous encounter. But if he comes looking for trouble, I’ll deal with him again. The result will be exactly the same as last time."
