Immortal of the Nine Realms-Chapter 15: How Can Ordinary People Compare With the Crown Prince?
Chapter 15: How Can Ordinary People Compare With the Crown Prince?
You Longchang was really tired. Thus, he bowed respectfully and took his leave.
Shortly after, a figure appeared by Fang Chen’s side quietly.
The figure belonged to a woman. Her brows creased a little, apparently concerned. She stepped behind Fang Chen and reached out her hand and started massaging his shoulders.
"Your Highness, Ye Qinghe is hiding Xiao En, and it seems like he plans to use him as a peace offering to appease the Qingsong Empire. He apparently also plans to use this matter to deal with you.”
“There was no need for you to come personally. I received news of that a long time ago. Also, the citizens of Grand Xia will tear me apart with their eyes if they see you with me." Fang Chen chuckled.
A slight blush blossomed on the woman’s face. "What are you saying, my lord?"
"Fairy Yu, your admirers can form a line that extends all the way from here to the Xiao family in Qingsong,” Fang Chen remarked.
"My lord, how can you compare those ordinary people with yourself?” Fairy Yu snorted. "My lord, Tie Ma was allowed to return. When will my mission be considered complete? More importantly, when will it be my turn to return to your side?
"I’d rather be your maid servant and massage your back and wash your feet rather than deal with those damn perverts. The only thing I can do is plaster a smile and go along with it!”
"The day isn’t far.” Fang Chen smiled and handed her a Vajra Talisman and a Strength Talisman. “Your cultivation has yet to reach the Qi Detonation Stage. If you meet with danger during this period of unrest, imbue these talismans with your inner qi. They will give you a huge boost in strength.”
Normally, a martial artist’s inner qi would not be able to activate talismans, but Fang Chen had previously infused his own spiritual qi into them, making it possible for others to use the talismans with their inner qi.
"What's this?" Fairy Yu’s eyes sparkled with curiosity.
“These are talismans. Now that I have achieved some success in my cultivation, this is sort of a different path.” Fang Chen said with a faint smile. Suddenly, his smile faded, and he paused for a moment. “Someone is coming. You should go.”
"Fine, I'll take my leave." Fairy Yu put away the talismans and departed quietly. Even though her cultivation was low, her movement skill was exceptional.
Xu Ge approached from a distance while pushing a wheelchair.
As the sun gradually rose, the crowd watching the commotion slowly started to increase. When the onlookers saw Fang Chen still in the ruins, they couldn’t help but feel puzzled.
"Chen’er, who are you waiting for?" Fang Chen's uncle, Fang Cangyue, smiled ambiguously.
The empress had arrived earlier yesterday at the Fang Manor, and the entire family was made aware of the fact that Fang Chen’s cultivation had been restored. He even drove Goddess Xiao out of the capital city!
They had also learnt that Fang Chen was leading an operation to slay every single martial artist of Qingsong left in the city. Thus, the Fang family had had an extremely busy night, and Fang Cangyou hadn’t had the time to return home. When he was done with his work, he requested of Xu Ge to bring him over to Fang Chen.
“Xu Ge, why did you bring second uncle here?” Fang Chen frowned. “Send him back to the manor.”
“Yes.” Without a second word, Xu Ge turned around and pushed Fang Cangyou away.
“Wait a minute!” Fang Cangyou yelled for him to stop. Unfortunately for him, Xu Ge only listened to Fang Chen. 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝓸𝒎
"Fang’er! Let me finish speaking first," Fang Cangyou barked.
"Wait, Xu Ge." Fang Chen called out to Xu Ge, who immediately stopped in his tracks and turned around to face Fang Chen. When Fang Chen saw his uncle’s face once again, he said, “Yes, Second Uncle, please go ahead.”
"I have some connections in the Grand Brilliance Bureau. That was where I worked back then, after all. I’ll wait with you for the members of the Grand Brilliance Bureau to arrive,” Fang Cangyou said in his deep voice. “As long as I’m here, they won’t dare act recklessly.”
He was confident he already knew who Fang Chen was waiting for.
Although there hadn't been much reaction from the various parties in the Imperial Palace after the incident, a silent struggle was definitely underway.
Fang Chen would certainly be under the spotlight.
“Xu Ge, send your second uncle back to the manor.” Fang Chen smiled indifferently.
Fang Cangyou's temper flared at his nephew’s words. But no matter how hard he cursed and yelled, Xu Ge turned a deaf ear and pushed him away.
Not too long after, forces of the Grand Brilliance Bureau arrived, surrounding the ravaged and wrecked Qingsong Superior Academy.
An array of constables clad in black and armed with steel blades stood at attention. An official of the bureau approached Fang Chen with several constables trailing him.
The official bowed respectfully. "Divine General Fang."
"Here is my list. Every name here belongs to a dead man. You can go ahead and check it yourself." Fang Chen handed him the paper, a little something he had written up in his spare time, while making the talismans.
Tie Ma’s name had been stricken off.
The official from the Grand Brilliance Bureau glanced at the list and blood drained from his face, and the constables beside him exchanged glances before looking at Fang Chen with a hint of awe in their eyes.
“Out of the thousand martial artists from the Qingsong Empire... only one is left alive......” The official let out a bitter laugh. “General Fang, you are making it difficult for me. I have orders to capture you and bring you back to the Grand Brilliance Bureau for interrogation.”
The Grand Brilliance Bureau was Grand Xia’s Department of Justice, and it should not be confused with the Ministry of Justice. The bureau dealt exclusively with individuals in high positions. The head of the bureau had always been chosen from the imperial family, a true-blue carrier of the imperial blood.
The current head of the Grand Brilliance Bureau was none other than the younger brother of the current Grand Xia Emperor, titled “Fifth King.” freewebn ovel.c om
"There's still one person left to kill." Fang Chen smiled nonchalantly. “How about I follow you to the Grand Brilliance Bureau once he’s dead?”
The official tittered, helpless. "General Fang, please don't make things any more difficult than it already is for me. If I can't detain you today, I'll be held accountable."
Fang Chen chuckled. "Did the Bureau Head give you an exact deadline?”
"Um..." The official was slightly taken aback. Thinking about it, that didn’t seem to be the case.
“He didn't mention anything about it, did he? That's good, I’ll head back with you by the end of the day. If you’re worried that I’ll escape, feel free to follow me.” Fang Chen stood up and left.
"What... what do we do now?" whispered one of the constables as he stared at Fang Chen’s departing back.
"I wouldn’t dare force Divine General Fang into custody. However, he said he’ll follow us back after he deals with the matter, so let’s be a little patient," whispered the official from the Grand Brilliance Bureau.
Not too long later, a constable ran over in haste. “Sir, Duke Li's son, Li Huang, was also in the Qingsong Superior Academy when the incident took place. I am afraid he’s a goner."
"This further complicates things,” the official muttered to himself before bringing his men over to catch up with Fang Chen.
The more they tailed Fang Chen, the more familiar their surroundings became.
Suddenly, Fang Chen stopped in front of the gates of a manor.
"Isn't this... isn’t this the minister of war’s manor?!" The official was dumbfounded.
By the time he collected his thoughts, Fang Chen had already knocked on the door.
Currently, the family was having breakfast inside, and Ye Dongming, the Minister of War, occupied the head of the table. The family nibbled in silence, following the unwritten rule of eating in quiet.
"Master, D-Divine General Fang is at the door....." An old servant ran into the hall hastily, seemingly extremely flustered.
Clatter. Several bowls tipped over, almost spilling the food on the table, but they were quickly stopped by those near. Everyone abruptly turned to stare at Ye Dongming.
Why is Fang Chen here, didn’t he go around killing the martial artists of Qingsong last night? Is there a reason for him to come to my manor! Could it be because of what happened back then?!
Ye Qinghe feigned calmness and turned to his father, Ye Dongming. "Father, shall we meet with him?”
"Why is he here?" Ye Dongming furrowed his brow slightly. After a moment of contemplation, he rose to his feet. “I’ll head out to take a look.”
