I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 180: Kidnapping openly
’You have taken everything from me! Enjoy while it lasts, you little bastard! Because it will be your funeral when we leave this place!’
The old man on Leo’s shoulder could only watch his entire treasury being emptied right before his eyes.
As if putting salt on his own wounds, he was even telling Leo the ways to avoid traps and open restrictions around the treasures, most of which had been in place for centuries.
As they moved to higher floors, there were a variety of treasures, most being kept here for protection or collateral. Even he didn’t know how most of them worked, especially since he wasn’t really their owner.
"This should be the last. I didn’t think there would be so many treasures, to the point that even the massive storage inside my ring would be completely occupied."
Leo took a deep breath as he kept the last item in the back, looking back at empty stands.
He hadn’t left even a single thing behind. At this point, he had even kept all the dust particles in his ring.
He had also been extremely fast, finishing the entire theft within an hour, something that put a lot of burden on his body since he was carrying the one man.
Now that he had finished, he was finally prepared to leave. But not before injecting another paralysis injection in the old man’s skin, just to be safe.
He left the massive mansion like vault, feeling a little regret that he couldn’t simply dismantle and take it with him as well.
He glanced at the mansion one last time, thinking, ’ I will be back for you.’
He traced his path back to the spatial crack, having the old man over his shoulder.
The old man felt his heartbeat become faster as he was getting closer to the exit. He was even prepared to give the command for his men to kill Leo, even if he had to put everything he had to move his lips.
"Finally, we can see who wins the wage. Are you excited?" Leo asked the old man, right before the spatial crack.
The old man didn’t answer, but his eyes were filled with a vicious glare.
Unfortunately, with the second dose of paralysis poison, it was even harder to move his lips than before. He couldn’t even make a proper noise.
Leo stepped through the crack with the old man over his shoulder.
The old man expected Leo to put him down when he was outside. But to his surprise, Leo started running with him on his shoulder.
"Is anyone here a doctor?! Hurry, your family head is hurt!" Leo screamed at the top of his lungs, appearing to be panicked.
"That damn evil bastard. To think that he lied to us! He didn’t just place explosive treasures inside, but also poisonous ones! If only I could’ve stopped the Patriarch from touching them in time!"
Leo’s voice was filled with regret, catching everyone’s attention.
The old man was at a loss of words. Wasn’t he poisoned by this bastard himself? What was he talking about?
Just then, he realized something. Leo had no intention of going through that wager and settling things through one last battle. He had been fooled!
The second dose of paralysis wasn’t to prevent the effects of the first one from falling off. It was to strengthen the first dose even more so that he couldn’t even speak like before.
If he could speak, he would’ve roared, ’Don’t listen to him! Kill this bastard! He has robbed everything from me!’
Unfortunately, these words were left behind in his head.
Then again, he still believed that there was no way such a trick was going to work on his guards. They were clever. They weren’t going to fall for this ruse without checking his condition.
In any case, Leo wasn’t able to get out of this place with his treasures. And when the paralysis fell off, Leo was in for a world of pain.
Unfortunately, what happened next left him awestruck. His gaze fell on his guards that weren’t in position outside.
Instead, they were sitting with Leo’s followers and drinking when they heard these screams.
It was as if a party atmosphere was broken. He really felt like scolding them. How could they be drinking with strangers when not even a few hours had passed.
"What?! What happened to the Lord?" The Captain of the Guard scrambled to his feet, tripping over a bottle.
’It’s fine. I can scold them later for drinking with the enemy. For now, get me off this bastard!’ the old man thought, watching his guard reach out his hand towards him to check his wrist.
"Don’t touch him!" Leo roared, backing away as if the guard’s hand was a hot iron. "His blood flow is a mess! His meridians are even bigger mess! If you touch him, his internal organs might blow up!"
’Hah, what an absurd lie. There’s no way my clever guards are going to believe that!’ the family head thought, only to be left shocked once more.
"What a terrifying poison!" Steve gasped, his face pale. "What should we do?! We don’t have a doctor here! We must take him back to the family residence!"
"Even if we follow your suggestion, there’s no certainty that your doctors will be able to help with this poison!" Leo said in full seriousness. "We need to shift your Patriarch to the Union! Our Medics can heal this poison! Hurry, move him to our ship!"
Leo ran toward his ship, carrying the old man on his shoulder, even as he was sweating.
"Oh no, the Patriarch’s face is turning red! The poison is spreading to his brain!" Steve shouted, watching the old man’s face turn even more red.
’You bastard, my face isn’t turning red because of poison. It’s turning red because of your stupidity! Can’t you even catch such simple lies?!’
The guards also rushed towards their ships while a few followed Leo.
"Where do you think you’re coming?" Leo asked, watching the guards follow him closely.
"Someone needs to accompany the Patriarch!" Steve shouted, catching up as Leo reached the loading ramp.
"And leave the treasury unguarded?!" Leo turned, looking genuinely heartbroken. "What is that is what the enemy wants? They lure us away with a medical emergency, and then... BAM! They take the Lionel Treasury! You must stay! Protect the empty... I mean, the incredibly full and valuable vault!"
"Don’t worry. On the way back, we will stop by Lionels residence and pick up his descendants to keep him company," he added, giving a random excuse as he stepped inside his ship. "You don’t need to come with us! Don’t let the enemy’s plan succeed!"
"But..."
"Do you not trust me?" Leo asked, stopping dead. He leaned in close, pointing a finger at his own face. "Look at my moustache, Captain. Truly look at it. Do you think a man with such well-groomed moustache could ever lie to you?"
Steve blinked. He looked at the moustache. It was admittedly a very fine moustache. But he was inwardly screaming.
"What does moustache have to do with..."
The guard tried asking in confusion, but Leo didn’t even let him finish.
"No excuses. If you come with us and this place is robbed, it’s your head on the line. And if this argument you’re having with me causes more delay and he dies, it’s again your head on the line!"
"No wait, could it be intentional? Are you a spy working for Lionel Family’s enemies, trying to delay me? In that case, I would have to arrest all of you!"
"What? No? I... I will stay and protect this place! Please save the patriarch!"
The guards quickly backed off, especially after an accusation of treason was made on them. In any case, they truly didn’t have much time. If anything happened to the family head because of this, they truly couldn’t avoid responsibility.
Although many of them felt like something was out of place, they couldn’t put their finger on it.
They simply stayed outside, watching the doors of the Galactic Union Ship close.
As the Union ship’s engines roared to life, the guards stood in a line, saluting the very man who had just stolen their master’s entire net worth.
Inside the ship, Leo dumped the old man onto a chair, proudly stating, "See? I told you. We won’t even have to fight..."
The Lionel Patriarch, unable to handle the sheer level of insanity he had just witnessed, did the only logical thing left to do.
He fainted.
