I'm the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon-Chapter 1473: Here Comes the Brat
Chapter 1473: Here Comes the Brat
Fletchling followed Chatot all the way home, then entered the Ecopark, and from there took a path that led to the Island Ecopark.
On the way, they happened to run into Ninetales, who was also heading to the Island Ecopark. Fletchling greeted it familiarly.
Ninetales had been in a good mood lately, so it responded to Fletchling with a gentle attitude. But when Fletchling asked what it was going there for, Ninetales didn’t answer and left mysteriously.
Chatot was very curious about Ninetales’ purpose for coming to the island, but it didn’t dare follow to investigate. After all, if it annoyed Ninetales, even ten of it put together wouldn’t be enough to take a beating from Ninetales.
Once they arrived at Chatot’s residence, it excitedly pointed at a massive skeleton in front of them and said to Fletchling, "Look at this! Isn’t it amazing? Do you know what this is?"
At that moment, Fletchling’s gaze was completely captivated by the awe-inspiring skeleton of the Ho-Oh. It felt as if its entire body’s blood was boiling, like something was pulling at its very core.
Seeing Fletchling dazed and stunned, Chatot smacked it with a wing. "What’s wrong? Got dumb from looking at it?"
Fletchling finally snapped out of it, then, in a trance-like state, followed Chatot slowly toward the Ho-Oh skeleton and eventually landing atop the skull of the majestic creature.
The moment it landed, the feeling of its blood boiling grew even stronger. It was as if a mysterious energy from the Ho-Oh skeleton was flowing toward it.
Then, to Chatot’s astonishment, a burst of crimson-golden flames suddenly erupted from Fletchling’s body. The flames boiled like hot oil in a sizzling pan, engulfing Fletchling completely.
But Fletchling didn’t seem to notice at all; instead, it shut its eyes tightly.
Chatot nervously took to the air while flapping its wings and circling above Fletchling’s head, screeching in panic. It had no idea what was going on and was both anxious and frightened.
If something happened to Fletchling here, would Yuga pluck all its feathers out? After all, Yuga had just reminded it to take good care of Fletchling.
But it didn’t dare go near Fletchling at the moment, because its instincts screamed that the crimson-golden flames were extremely dangerous—dangerous enough that even an Elite level Pokémon like itself might not withstand them.
However, Chatot’s worry didn’t last long. The crimson-golden flames on Fletchling burned for a short while before automatically fading—or rather, they were absorbed back into its body. Immediately afterward, a radiant light of evolution emerged from Fletchling’s form.
When the pure white light of evolution faded, Fletchling had vanished. In its place stood a bird of far more graceful and athletic form—a Fletchinder.
The feathers on Fletchinder’s head and back burned red like fire. Its black wings were edged with gold, and its long tail was sharply divided in black and white. It looked extraordinarily majestic and mystical.
After the evolution was complete, Fletchinder suddenly opened its eyes, a sharp glint flashing in them—though it quickly became dazed.
It flapped its wings and took off into the air, seeming not quite used to the change in its body size. Its size had more than doubled from before; it had gone from being just about the size of an adult’s palm to being nearly the same size as Chatot, who was a fully grown bird.
"What happened? What happened?!"
Fletchinder twisted its head to look at its changed wings, chirping frantically.
Chatot flew up beside it, thinking: I’d like to know what happened too!
So, it dragged Fletchinder over to the lake. From the reflection in the lake water, Fletchinder finally got a good look at its current form. With joy, it cried out, "I evolved?! I evolved! I evolved!!"
Fletchinder’s potential used to only be orange, making evolution very difficult. After arriving at YoYo Day Care, it had improved to yellow, significantly lowering the difficulty of evolution—but even then, it still required real tempering and effort.
Who would’ve thought it would evolve so quickly? Truly, fate is unpredictable!
Chatot used to enjoy chirping noisily too, and never thought of itself as annoying—but today, Fletchinder made it realize what it must sound like.
Fletchinder kept flying back and forth, chirping over and over again, shouting the same line: "I evolved!"
Having received such exciting news, Fletchinder naturally had to tell Yuga right away. So, after celebrating wildly for a while, it ditched Chatot and flew off.
At that moment, Yuga had just seen a guest out the door.
Today’s guest was a merchant that Yuga had specially invited to come by and help clear out some of the Pokémon materials stockpiled at the Day Care.
For places like theirs that raise Pokémon, they often end up with many materials they can’t use themselves—things like silk spun by Wurmple or Sewaddle, newly shed leaves from Lotad, or the shed skins of Ekans (or Arbok) and Seviper. All of these were highly useful materials.
But since the Day Care either had no use for them or simply had too much, they would contact merchants who specialized in these kinds of materials to come purchase them.
YoYo Day Care raised a large number of Pokémon, so the accumulation of Pokémon materials happened quickly. The warehouse was nearly full, which was why Yuga had specifically asked someone to come over and help clear out the stockpile of materials.
These materials were quite valuable, so Yuga could make a decent amount of money from them. Of course, this was just extra income—whether it was a lot or a little, he didn’t particularly care, since the Day Care didn’t rely on this to make a living anyway.
Just as Yuga had finished seeing the guest off, he saw a Fletchinder flying toward him. At first, he was very surprised, because there wasn’t supposed to be a Fletchinder at YoYo Day Care.
But the familiar chirping instantly made him realize where this Fletchinder had come from.
"You actually evolved?!"
As the Fletchinder flew closer, Yuga said in disbelief.
"Yeah, yeah! I evolved!" Fletchinder replied, bursting with excitement.
Yuga activated his Insight skill.

After reading the info, Yuga couldn’t help but exclaim, "Good grief, did you eat some kind of divine elixir? You just transcended into immortality!"
He turned to Fletchinder and asked, "What happened? How did you evolve?"
Fletchinder’s explanation was completely jumbled and incoherent. Fortunately, Chatot arrived just then and told Yuga the full story of how Fletchinder evolved.
After listening, Yuga fell silent for a long time. Then he looked Fletchinder over from head to toe.
Could this guy have Ho-Oh’s bloodline? But wasn’t it just a common Fletchling found everywhere in the Kalos region? Why would the Ho-Oh skeleton favor it?
Yuga knew that Legendary Pokémon could, in fact, produce offspring. However, he wasn’t sure how exactly they reproduced. He couldn’t even confirm whether they reproduced sexually. So, as for whether Fletchinder really had Ho-Oh’s bloodline, Yuga had no way of knowing.
Still, this was undoubtedly a good thing for Fletchinder!
What Yuga was thinking at that moment was: Should I try bringing back a few more Fletchling to test it out?
Although he figured the chance of repeating this success was slim, there was no harm in trying. With that in mind, Yuga silently made up his mind to bring back a few more Fletchling and give it a try.
"Alright, you two can go back now. It’s not a big deal," Yuga casually waved Fletchinder and Chatot away.
After sending the two off, Yuga headed out with Klefki, because the keys they had sent for repairs were now finished and ready to be picked up.
At this time, Ninetales was still on the island. It had already gone far beyond the bounds of the Island Ecopark and was lowering its head to track something in the grass.
Some time ago, while exploring the island, it had discovered traces that seemed to have been left by a Scyther. At first, it thought about telling Yuga, but then hesitated, unsure whether its judgment was correct, so it had kept quiet.
This time, after obtaining Mew’s Crystal and feeling in an excellent mood, it wanted to return the favor by giving Yuga a gift—so it had come out again to continue tracking the Scyther’s trail.
However, Yuga was unaware of this. After retrieving the keys with Klefki, he simply went back home.
The newly repaired keys looked completely different now. If Klefki couldn’t sense the familiar Steel-type energy fluctuations, it would have suspected the keys had been switched.
There was no way the keys had been swapped—those exquisite and beautiful keys were indeed the exact same ones it had before.
Klefki needed to absorb steel ions through metal keys, so over time it became able to sense the difference between its own keys and others. This was one of the reasons most Klefki were unwilling to replace their keys easily.
It was similar to how a white Flabébé, after losing its Fairy Flower, would rather go without any flower than accept a yellow Fairy Flower.
Of course, its unwillingness to replace old keys didn’t conflict with its desire to collect new ones, so Klefki kept the two additional keys Yuga had bought for it.
Time passed quickly, and after a few days, Ninetales continued to go to the island early every morning and return late every night. Yuga still didn’t know what it was up to, but he didn’t ask too many questions.
On this particular day, two guests came to the shop—or rather, it should be four guests, since there were also two children that Yuga almost didn’t notice.
But these two children clearly didn’t get along well. The moment they saw each other, the atmosphere turned tense, as if sparks were about to fly.
If Chatot had been there, it would have instantly recognized the two children as Haruki and Natsuhiko, whom it had encountered before.
Haruki still had his Chikorita with him. To be precise, the Chikorita wasn’t officially his Pokémon, but his father’s—since Haruki hadn’t reached the legal age to own a Pokémon yet.
This rule had been strictly enforced in the years shortly after Yuga first came to this world, but in recent years the League had gradually relaxed the policy.
Though children under ten still weren’t legally allowed to own Pokémon, many families would purchase a Pokémon as a pet in the parents’ name when the child was still young. The pet would then grow up alongside the child.
When the child turned ten and became eligible to own a Pokémon, the pet would be transferred into the child’s name. This system helped lay a strong emotional foundation between the child and their starter Pokémon.
The League had made this policy change because, in recent years, there had been repeated incidents of children abandoning their starter Pokémon during their journeys—and these issues persisted despite efforts to curb them.
If a child and their starter Pokémon didn’t get along after only a short time together, conflicts were likely to occur. And since both sides were still young, the chances of misunderstandings were even higher.
Not only were there frequent cases of novice trainers abandoning their Pokémon, but it wasn’t rare for starter Pokémon to abandon their trainers either.
Today, Haruki’s mother had brought him to buy Pokéblocks and incense for Chikorita—but unexpectedly, they ran into Natsuhiko and his mother.
The two families were neighbors, and their fathers were even colleagues, so Haruki and Natsuhiko had known each other since they were little. But their relationship had never been good.
Natsuhiko had a dominant personality and loved to play pranks—no matter where he went, he was always the king of troublemakers. Haruki, on the other hand, had a gentle temperament, was a bit timid, and particularly introverted.
With such starkly opposite personalities, the two children naturally couldn’t get along.
Both of their fathers worked for the Devon Corporation. Not long ago, they were transferred together to the branch office in Verdanturf Town, so their families moved here as well, continuing to live as neighbors.
Even though Haruki and Natsuhiko didn’t get along, their parents maintained a good relationship. After all, they had been neighbors for years and were now also colleagues.
Thanks to the League’s support policies, insiders at Devon knew that Verdanturf Town had great potential for future development. That’s why Haruki’s and Natsuhiko’s fathers both vied for this transfer opportunity. They were still young, and with some effort, they had promising futures ahead.
Because Haruki was so introverted, his father worried that he wouldn’t be able to make any friends after moving here. So, he bought a Pokémon under his own name to keep Haruki company.
When Natsuhiko found out about this, he pestered his father to buy him a Pokémon too. But didn’t Natsuhiko’s father know exactly what kind of kid his son was? He worried that Natsuhiko wouldn’t treat the Pokémon properly, so he refused.
But Natsuhiko was a classic little troublemaker—how could he just accept that? Of course he couldn’t. So after failing to wear his father down with his constant pestering, he set his sights on Haruki. He began ambushing Haruki every few days, trying to get him to lend Chikorita to him to play with.
The two of them went to the same school. Though they weren’t in the same class, Natsuhiko had plenty of ways to catch Haruki.
At first, the adults in both families didn’t know anything about it. But a few days ago, Haruki came home with an injured Chikorita, and that’s when the whole matter was exposed. As a result, Natsuhiko was given a severe beating.
His parents were completely exasperated. They realized that things couldn’t continue like this, and in the end, to prevent him from bullying Haruki again, they reluctantly decided to buy him a Pokémon of his own.
That’s why Natsuhiko’s mother brought him to YoYo Day Care today—to consult about purchasing a Pokémon. She hadn’t expected to run into Haruki.
Still holding a grudge over the beating he got a few days ago, Natsuhiko made a face at Haruki as soon as he saw him and even pushed him.
His mother had been keeping a close eye on him. The moment she noticed his little antics, she immediately ordered him to apologize to Haruki. But Natsuhiko, sulking, refused. As a result, the atmosphere between them became tense and awkward.
Haruki’s mother understood that Natsuhiko’s mom was trying to discipline her child, so she didn’t step in to stop her. Besides, she also thought that Natsuhiko really did need a good lesson. If he was already this domineering at such a young age, how would he behave when he grew up?
At that moment, Yuga still didn’t know that Natsuhiko was a textbook brat. Seeing the boy’s mouth start to twitch as if he were about to cry, then noticing how stern and cold his mother’s face looked, Yuga hesitated, unsure whether he should step in to mediate.
Suzuki Koen looked like she was about to step in and help smooth things over, but when she saw the subtle glance from Haruki’s mother, she quietly stepped back again.
