I'm Really a Villain-Chapter 1207: , The Mysterious Elder, A Lesson
Xu Zimei nodded slightly, signaling for Feng Buxiu to leave.
He slowly opened the wooden box in front of him, and with a puff of dust, the long-sealed sound echoed as the box was opened.
Inside, a very thick book came into view.
The cover of the book was as hard as a board, like iron.
The black cover bore the three large characters for “Ghost God Chronicles”.
Xu Zimei opened the book and began to read it carefully.
The top floor was incredibly quiet, with few visitors, naturally covered in dust.
Beside him was a window, with black afterglow shining through.
After a long time, night had completely fallen over the Seven Gods Academy, and Xu Zimei finally let out a long breath.
He closed the book, frowning slightly.
The contents of this book, as Feng Buxiu had said, were indeed just miscellaneous writings.
It touched on a wide range of subjects, almost covering everything within the Ghost God Realm.
Yet, the matters discussed were all trivial.
It seemed as though the author deliberately concealed something, abruptly stopping many stories at critical moments.
"What in the world is this?” Xu Zimei muttered to himself.
He looked down at the book, pondering for a moment, and finally furrowed his brow suddenly.
Staring at the iron-like cover.
He exerted force with both hands and forcibly split the cover in two.
From within the cover, a golden paper was revealed.
Before Xu Zimei could make another move, the golden paper suddenly emitted a brilliant golden light.
The intensity of the light illuminated the entire Scripture Pavilion.
"Seven,” a soft whisper of a number was heard.
The sound seemed to come from the vast cosmos, spreading across the Primordial Era, entering Xu Zimei’s ears from billions of miles away.
Then, on the golden paper, a silhouette appeared.
The silhouette was like pixels, indistinct, vaguely resembling a human figure.
"Long time no see,” the silhouette looked at Xu Zimei and greeted with a smile.
"Are you… Old Yang?” Xu Zimei asked, both surprised and questioning.
"Old Yang is just a name, technically, I’m called Seven,” the silhouette explained.
"Seven?” Xu Zimei slightly frowned.
He suddenly remembered that in the Endless Palace, he had met another old man who called himself “Three”.
"Could it be that you’re part of an organization,” Xu Zimei laughed.
"You could understand it that way, all beings united as one,” the silhouette known as Seven replied.
"Do you have business here?” Xu Zimei asked.
"Shouldn’t it be you who has business with me?” the silhouette retorted.
"I heard from Dean Feng that you know about the Ancient Gods,” Xu Zimei replied.
"Ah, the Ancient Gods, indeed I know one: the Wood God, Ju Mang.”
The old silhouette laughed and said, “You are looking for his legacy, aren’t you?”
"Can you tell me the location?” Xu Zimei asked.
"This isn’t a classified matter; in the Forbidden Land of the Ghost God Realm, there is a Rihua City.
It used to be Ju Mang’s hometown, a city formed mainly from Giant Spirit Wood and phoenix trees.
It’s a city formed by the condensation of numerous Sky-reaching Great Trees.”
The old silhouette replied, “Even if you go to Rihua City, you won’t be able to find Ju Mang’s legacy.”
"It’s a maze, arranged with the twenty-four directions of the heavenly cycle, without a definitive formation core.
"Every second, there are millions of changes.”
"Surely you have a way,” Xu Zimei said.
"In the affairs of the world, nothing is absolute. From ancient times, to my knowledge, only one person has ever come and gone freely in Rihua City,” the old silhouette said once more.
"Who?”
"The White Emperor!” the silhouette stated word by word.
Xu Zimei was stunned; the White Emperor was the entity he had promised Feng Buxiu to represent the Seven Gods Academy in the White Emperor Mountain contest.
"The White Emperor has a compass called Traceless,” the silhouette slowly said.
"That compass knows the eternal Yin and Yang, the transformations of the heavens, can reverse time, and even defy the ancient past.
"With the guidance of the compass, you can reach the Legacy Land.”
"Why… are you helping me,” Xu Zimei paused, voicing the doubt in his heart.
He had been prepared to agree to certain terms, but unexpectedly, the silhouette, who had no relation to him, told him the truth so directly.
"I’m not helping you; I’m helping myself,” the silhouette said.
"I don’t quite understand, could you enlighten me,” Xu Zimei replied.
"As you move forward, there will come a day when the fog lifts, and you’ll be true to your own heart,” the silhouette smiled and said.
As he finished speaking, the golden light began to fade, and the silhouette gradually disappeared before his eyes.
The remaining fragments of the book self-immolated immediately.
In an instant, it turned to dust.
The entire Scripture Pavilion was left with only Xu Zimei alone.
He descended from the top floor, and at the entrance of the Scripture Pavilion, a woman was already waiting for him.
"Are you Young Master Xu? The dean had me wait for you here,” the woman smiled and said.
"To take you to a resting place.”
Xu Zimei nodded slightly.
Following the woman, they arrived at a very tranquil courtyard.
The courtyard had a unique scenery, and at its center stood a fiery red tree burning.
The tree’s leaves transformed into small flames, drifting in mid-air.
The architectural style, resembling the water towns of Jiangnan, gave a sense of serenity.
"What does the Young Master think of this place?” the woman asked.
"It’s suitable,” Xu Zimei nodded and asked, “And that swordsman who came with me?”
He was naturally referring to Xie Changliu.
"That gentleman is not far from you,” the woman laughed and explained.
Xu Zimei nodded, then gestured for the woman to leave.
The woman smiled, but as she left Xu Zimei’s courtyard, her smile faded.
A few white-robed youths approached from the side.
"Senior Sister Zuo, how did it go?” one of the young men asked.
"He’s the one the dean mentioned before, the one to represent our academy in the competition?”
The woman nodded slightly and replied, “From the dean’s attitude toward him, it seems quite certain.”
"Why,” someone indignantly said.
"We’ve worked hard for so long, and he’s just an unknown newcomer, what right does he have to replace us.”
"Complaining about it won’t change anything, we should ask the dean.”
"Yeah, wasn’t Senior Brother Hongyu with the dean, why haven’t we seen him come back?”
The crowd was abuzz with discussion, while the woman seemed a bit irritated.
She said, “In my opinion, instead of changing the dean’s mind.
"It would be better to teach him a lesson, and then the dean will naturally choose someone else.”
The crowd contemplated briefly and then agreed.
Flames ignited and burned,
The boundless fire spreading through his consciousness, sweat trickled down Xu Zimei’s forehead and face.
The fierce flames surged as if to meld Xu Zimei within them.
Xu Zimei’s tightly shut eyes suddenly opened wide.
