Ignored When Chasing: Why Cry After I Got Engaged-Chapter 70: Hugo, in Aethelgard
"Selina Nathan..." Damian Hawthorne mulled over the name, his fingers unconsciously tightening as his eyes narrowed. "How do you know that?"
’If Cecilia was alone, it might not be a problem, but if she’s with Selina Nathan...’
Damian’s gaze sharpened as he thought about all the trouble Selina Nathan had caused since she was a child.
The title of "only daughter of Aethelgard’s richest man" was enough to drive greedy criminals into a frenzy.
If Cecilia was with her, she would only get dragged into it.
’If something happened, the Nathan Family has the power to protect Selina Nathan, but they might not necessarily protect Cecilia.’
At that thought, Damian Hawthorne frowned and shot to his feet.
His posture was ramrod straight. Standing up, he shed his usual languid air, appearing poised and commanding.
"Mr. Hawthorne..." Serena Hughes’s heart leaped in shock.
"Come with me," Damian said, giving her a nonchalant glance.
"Go... go where?" Serena was bewildered.
"To rescue Cecilia."
Serena’s mouth twitched. She didn’t want to go.
’Forget rescuing Cecilia, she wouldn’t even want to look if Cecilia got into trouble.’
"If you don’t want to go, then don’t," Damian said, turning to walk out.
Serena thought for a moment, then gritted her teeth and hurried after him.
’As long as I’m with Damian Hawthorne, nothing should happen to me.’
’Besides, it’s a perfect chance to watch the drama unfold.’
Once inside Damian Hawthorne’s car, Serena shrank back nervously.
The car was spacious and even had a starlight headliner. It was the latest model from some luxury brand.
The seats were comfortable, but Serena felt completely ill at ease sitting there.
"This Hugo guy... is Cecilia in love with him?" Damian’s voice pulled Serena from her thoughts.
Serena froze. Thinking of the diary entries, she almost blurted out the truth but didn’t dare to.
The diary’s owner was definitely in love with Hugo, as the entire journal was filled with little details about her and this "Hugo."
But the owner of the diary could be anyone else; it absolutely could not be Cecilia.
Because there was a high probability that the diary’s owner was Luna.
’If Cecilia is Luna, then all my hopes are dashed.’
She knew how important Luna was to Damian Hawthorne.
"I don’t know..." Serena denied it instinctively. "I only know that Hugo is a guy, and... he’s very exceptional."
Her words were ambiguous, neither confirming nor denying it.
The atmosphere grew colder, and the tension inside the car thickened.
"Where did you get this information?" Damian raised an eyebrow, a low laugh in his voice, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes.
He’d been searching for this person for so long without success, yet Serena had found him.
He knew Serena had the Sinclair Family behind her, but their connections weren’t necessarily more extensive than the Hawthorne Family’s.
"A long time ago, I found a diary, and it mentioned this Hugo... Of course, this Hugo isn’t necessarily the same Hugo you’re talking about."
Serena added nervously.
She didn’t dare mention that the diary also contained the sheet music for "Eye of Love."
"I also know that this Hugo is right here in Aethelgard."

Aethelgard was the capital of Veridia.
In the heart of Aethelgard, within a certain courtyard home, red climbing roses covered the walls, their vines spilling out over the top.
A faint, floral fragrance wafted through the air, causing passersby to peer inside.
A man wearing sunglasses sat brazenly on a lounge chair, his features so exquisite he looked like he’d stepped out of a painting.
"Hugo, are you sure you want to go to Korsyth?" The man standing beside him watched him with some disapproval.
An observant person would have noticed that these men were all quite handsome—they were members of the hottest idol group of the moment.
Miles Sinclair took off his glasses and glanced at the news on his phone, a sunny smile on his face. "Of course, I’m going. Aren’t we all heading there for that entertainment show? Or are you guys not going?"
The others looked at each other and said nothing.
Miles Sinclair wouldn’t admit it, but they all knew the truth.
He wasn’t going to Korsyth for work at all.
"That show in Korsyth is a dating program with non-celebrities. Hugo, are you really going to date a non-celebrity?"
"What are you talking about!" Someone smacked the one who had asked the question. "Hugo already has someone in his heart! How could he possibly date a non-celebrity? Forget non-celebrities, he wouldn’t even date a famous actress!"
No one spoke again.
They all knew that Miles Sinclair had someone in his heart.
Because whenever Miles Sinclair got drunk, he would call out a woman’s name.
The name was somewhat familiar, and she was in Korsyth.
"Too bad our Hugo’s crush is in love with someone else."
It wasn’t the first time he’d been teased about it, so Miles Sinclair didn’t care.
"I’ll just have the production team eliminate me after the first episode," Miles Sinclair said, pushing his sunglasses back on. His tone was faint. "After I’m eliminated, I’ll just hang around Korsyth for a bit."
"In your dreams!" a guy with white hair shouted, pointing at him. "You’re the most popular member of our group. The non-celebrities will definitely choose to date you. You won’t get a chance to be eliminated."
"If you get eliminated in the first episode, everyone will think the show is rigged... They’ll stop watching."
Miles Sinclair stood up rather coolly. "I’ve already told our manager I’m only participating in one episode."
After speaking, he turned and went inside.
Someone in the courtyard sighed. "Forget it. He has his own things to do. As members of his team, we should all help him."
"What’s the use? That woman is someone else’s simp, not his..."
CRASH! The sound of shattering dishes came from inside the house.
The courtyard fell completely silent.
「The outskirts of Korsyth.」
In an old apartment building, Cecilia Nathan pushed open the window, gauging the distance between herself and the ground floor.
The floor wasn’t too high, but it wasn’t low either. She was on the third story, and there was a platform nearby she could jump to.
Thinking about what Finn Hawthorne had told her, Cecilia lowered her eyes, her heart clenching slightly.
First, Finn Hawthorne had called Damian Hawthorne, but Damian said he wasn’t coming.
Immediately after, Finn had called Hugo Grant.
As soon as Hugo Grant heard she was in trouble, he started heading over.
’Unless it was absolutely necessary, she didn’t want to drag everyone into this.’
She had already tried to negotiate with the bodyguards, but they turned a deaf ear to her words.
Only now did she realize that this batch of bodyguards had been specially assigned to the imposter by the butler.
Aside from the imposter, these men wouldn’t listen to anyone.
Her phone had been confiscated, and getting out was also a problem.
How long Sharon Quincy planned to keep her locked up was a mystery.
But the most important thing right now was to get back to the Nathan Family and tell her father what had happened.
’She had a feeling Sharon Quincy’s ambition was greater than just being the young miss of the Nathan Family.’
"Miss Cecilia Nathan, Mr. Grant is here."
Finn Hawthorne’s voice rang out. Cecilia quickly stood up and looked down to see Hugo Grant waving at her.
A smile touched Cecilia’s lips.
Seemingly aware that the Nathan Family’s bodyguards would be difficult to deal with, Hugo Grant hadn’t called the police. Instead, he had quietly set up an airbag on the second-floor platform.
The third floor was Finn Hawthorne’s apartment, but the second floor wasn’t, so no bodyguards were posted there.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Cecilia jumped from the third floor.
Just then, an RV happened to pull up outside the residential complex.
"The hotel we’re staying at is right around here," a man muttered under his breath. "Isn’t this area a little too rundown? Why would the production team put us up in a place like this? Hugo, did you say something to offend them?"
