Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Where Is She?

"Cecilia, what exactly do you mean by bringing this person here?" Linden Nathan was old, but his mind was sharp. "Did you bring him here just to make me angry?"

"Mr. Nathan, I am Miles Sinclair. Cecilia brought me here this time to clear up the misunderstanding between us." Seeing Linden Nathan’s agitation, Miles Sinclair’s tone was exceptionally gentle. "I’m not a ghost or a monster. Back then, because of your ’attention,’ I nearly lost my life. My parents had to send me abroad just to keep me alive."

"Dad, Miles Sinclair didn’t die." Cecilia Nathan’s expression was serene. "I didn’t let you know when I was dating him back then, but now that he’s alive, I feel there are some things you ought to know."

"Didn’t die..." Linden Nathan’s expression froze. Soon, his stunned look turned savage. "I watched you get cremated. The police also confirmed you were dead. If you say you didn’t die, doesn’t that make you an undocumented person now?"

"Miles Sinclair, you can’t possibly still want to be with Cecilia, can you?"

...

After Sharon Quincy stepped out, she glanced at the hotel room door. As if they were afraid she’d eavesdrop, the door slammed shut with a BANG, cutting her off from everything inside.

Even though the hallway was heated, Sharon Quincy still felt a chill.

She wanted to have a proper talk with Cecilia Nathan, but it seemed Cecilia wasn’t giving her the chance.

"Sharon Quincy..."

A magnetic voice sounded out.

Sharon Quincy shuddered. She spun around to see Damian Hawthorne standing there in a long, black padded coat. His eyes were narrowed slightly, a playful smirk on his lips.

With his hands stuffed in his coat pockets, he strode toward her.

"Fancy meeting you here..."

Those few simple words sent a chill down Sharon Quincy’s spine.

Ever since her identity was exposed, the person she feared seeing most, besides Linden Nathan, was Damian Hawthorne.

"Mr... Mr. Hawthorne..." Sharon Quincy bit her lip, forced a smile, and looked up with newfound courage. "What are you doing here?"

"Looking for someone," Damian Hawthorne said with a light chuckle.

The image of Cecilia Nathan immediately appeared in Sharon Quincy’s mind.

’Is Damian Hawthorne looking for Cecilia Nathan?’

"Are you looking for Cecilia Nathan, Mr. Hawthorne?" Sharon Quincy asked.

Damian Hawthorne raised an eyebrow, his tone nonchalant. "It seems you’ve just seen her."

Sharon Quincy’s expression stiffened. "I... I have indeed seen her."

The look in Damian Hawthorne’s eyes deepened.

’Cecilia Nathan was supposed to be introducing Miles Sinclair to her ’family’ today, so why is Sharon Quincy here too?’

’Could it be that Sharon Quincy also knows the family Cecilia is meeting?’

"Where is she?"

Sharon Quincy looked up, her heart tightening.

She remembered that Damian Hawthorne didn’t know Cecilia Nathan was Selina Nathan.

Cecilia Nathan had been hiding it from him all along.

’If Damian Hawthorne found out Cecilia Nathan’s identity right now, would he fly into a rage out of humiliation?’

An idea flashed in Sharon Quincy’s mind. She crossed her arms, looking at Damian Hawthorne with amusement. "Mr. Hawthorne, you didn’t come here to catch a cheater, did you? Oh, I forgot, you two were never actually together..."

Damian Hawthorne’s eyes turned cold, his gaze like a sharp knife on Sharon Quincy.

Sharon Quincy suddenly felt a deep chill run through her.

"Miss Quincy, you seem to think you’re quite capable. First, you impersonated Selina Nathan to discuss marriage with me, and now you’re being deliberately vague. Do you really think you can just play people for a fool?"

Damian Hawthorne’s voice was heavy with warning.

Sharon Quincy gritted her teeth and glanced toward the presidential suite.

"I just... saw her go that way." She raised her uninjured hand, about to point to the presidential suite, but then a thought struck her. She curled her finger and pointed toward the stairwell instead. "She went downstairs with another man."

Damian Hawthorne looked toward the dark emergency stairwell, his gaze turning cold.

Sharon Quincy retracted her trembling hand. "I don’t know what she was here for. If you want to find her, you can still catch her."

"Do you think I’d still believe a word you say?" Damian Hawthorne shot her a sidelong glance.

The color drained from Sharon Quincy’s face. She had deceived Damian Hawthorne before, so it was only natural that he wouldn’t trust her now.

However, before she could think any further, Damian Hawthorne had already walked up to the presidential suite.

"I remember seeing Mr. Linden Nathan here last time. When he’s in Korsyth, he should be staying here, right?"

After Damian Hawthorne finished speaking, Sharon Quincy nodded nervously. "Yes, my godfather does live here."

At that moment, Sharon Quincy was terrified that Damian Hawthorne would knock on the door.

It wasn’t for any other reason. If Damian Hawthorne barged in now, Linden Nathan and Cecilia Nathan would definitely think she had instigated it or snitched on them.

She was standing right outside the door; if she didn’t stop Damian Hawthorne, all the blame would fall on her.

Right now, she wanted to curry favor not only with Linden Nathan, but even more so with Cecilia Nathan.

She knew that Cecilia Nathan hadn’t told Damian Hawthorne her true identity yet.

If Damian Hawthorne rushed in now, she wouldn’t be able to escape responsibility.

"My godfather is sleeping right now. You’d better not disturb him," Sharon Quincy said, staring nervously at the door.

Damian Hawthorne crossed his arms, his eyes fixed on the doorknob.

Just now, he had only seen Cecilia Nathan walk in this direction; he hadn’t seen her enter the room.

If Linden Nathan was resting, it would indeed be impolite for him to intrude.

"Since Mr. Nathan is resting, I’ll take my leave."

He turned and walked toward the elevators. Just then, the door opened from the inside.

Damian Hawthorne’s steps faltered, and Sharon Quincy’s heart leaped into her throat.

"Mr. Hawthorne..." The person who opened the door was Linden Nathan. He looked surprised to see Damian Hawthorne. "What brings you here?"

"Oh, I was just in the area for some business." Damian Hawthorne glanced inside the room and, seeing no one else, lowered his gaze. "My apologies for disturbing you."

"It’s no problem. I was resting and just got up. By the way, would you like to come in for a cup of tea?"

"No, thank you. Next time, I’ll make a special trip to Aethelgard to visit you properly," Damian Hawthorne said, declining Linden Nathan’s offer. "Please, carry on."

With that, Damian Hawthorne turned and walked away without a backward glance.

Linden Nathan couldn’t insist. He beckoned to Sharon Quincy. "Sharon, what are you still doing standing out there? Come here, I have something to tell you."

Sharon Quincy scurried over. Once she was inside, Linden Nathan quickly shut the door.

Sharon Quincy looked at the people in the room and patted her chest nervously. "Thank goodness. I really thought the cat was out of the bag."

"Damian Hawthorne is too smart. I thought for sure he’d found out."

Cecilia Nathan remained silent.

She hadn’t expected Damian Hawthorne to follow her here.

"By the way, Cecilia, why are you hiding this from Damian Hawthorne?" Sharon Quincy walked up to Cecilia Nathan amiably and linked arms with her. "The reason you chased him for so long without success was because his mother looked down on your status. If you had told him you were Selina Nathan sooner, you might have gotten together with him long ago instead of being his backup for so long."

This was the question Sharon Quincy had been hiding in her heart.

The spot where she was being held felt searing hot. Cecilia Nathan frowned and instinctively shook her arm free. "This is my business. I don’t need to explain it to you."

Sharon Quincy’s hand froze, her face turning ashen.

"Cecilia," Linden Nathan sighed deeply. "If it weren’t for Sharon just now, Damian Hawthorne would have discovered your identity."
