Ignored When Chasing: Why Cry After I Got Engaged-Chapter 102: Moved
By now, Cecilia Nathan had already left the hotel.
Minutes earlier, just as she found the presidential suite and was about to go inside, she happened to see a familiar figure.
It was Damian Hawthorne.
Cecilia Nathan’s eyelid twitched slightly.
’What is he doing here...’
Cecilia Nathan had a bad feeling.
Just then, the door to the suite opened, and Linden Nathan walked out.
"Mr. Nathan..."
Seeing Damian Hawthorne walk inside, Cecilia’s heart instantly clenched.
’Today is not a good time to see my father.’
’Damian Hawthorne absolutely cannot find out my identity.’
Thinking about how she had once been desperate enough to threaten to jump off a building just to stay by Damian Hawthorne’s side, Cecilia Nathan sighed softly.
If Damian Hawthorne were to find out her identity, he probably wouldn’t just hold that against her; he might find out about the other matter too.
At this thought, Cecilia Nathan lowered her gaze, gritted her teeth, and turned to leave.
Just then, her phone rang.
"Hello, is this Cecilia Nathan? I... I’m Finn Hawthorne’s sister." The girl’s voice on the other end of the line was young and anxious. "My brother is hurt, but he refuses to go to the hospital. Cecilia Nathan, can you help us?"
Hearing that Finn Hawthorne was injured, Cecilia Nathan didn’t hesitate. She clutched her phone and said, "Tell me the address."
Finn Hawthorne had helped her before; she considered him a friend.
She couldn’t just stand by and watch a friend be in trouble.
「...」
Linden Nathan came out of the room and said to his bodyguards, "Go find..."
With Damian Hawthorne present, he didn’t say Cecilia’s name.
"Mr. Hawthorne, I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving. If you have no other business... you may leave as well."
The door to the suite was wide open. Damian Hawthorne stood by the doorway, looking thoughtful.
Linden Nathan couldn’t bring himself to smile.
His heart had been pounding ever since he didn’t see Cecilia, and he had a feeling that something was about to happen.
His premonitions were usually accurate.
"I have nothing else, Mr. Nathan. Wherever you’re headed, I’ll see you out."
Damian Hawthorne didn’t let on that he knew what Linden Nathan was thinking.
"No need to see me out." Linden Nathan didn’t want to play games with him any longer and quickly walked to the elevator to go downstairs.
By this time, Cecilia Nathan had reached the intersection.
As she was crossing the street, a blinding light suddenly shone on her.
Cecilia Nathan’s eyes widened as she watched a black sedan speed toward her.
"Cecilia!"
"Look out!"
Instead of stopping, the car accelerated.
Cecilia Nathan’s heart seized violently.
It was as if she were back in that moment years ago when her life hung by a thread.
Just then, a powerful force knocked her to the side of the road. With a loud THUD, something else was sent flying.
A moment of silence...
Soon after, Linden Nathan’s anxious voice cried out, "Sharon!!"
It was Sharon Quincy!
Cecilia Nathan stared blankly at Sharon Quincy in the distance.
Just now, it was Sharon Quincy who had pushed her away.
If it weren’t for Sharon Quincy, she would have been the one hit by the car.
Cecilia Nathan frowned, her feelings a complicated mix.
She hadn’t been able to dodge in time, but Sharon Quincy had used all her strength to push her out of the way.
Linden Nathan rushed to Sharon Quincy’s side and was about to help her up when a bodyguard stopped him. "President Nathan, don’t touch her. I’ve already called for an ambulance."
"Right, right, you’re not supposed to move someone who’s been in a car accident." Linden Nathan was starting to panic.
At that moment, Linden Nathan felt more than just conflicted; he was shocked and terrified by what had almost happened.
If, if Cecilia had been the one who was hit... he couldn’t even bear to think about it.
If anything happened to Cecilia, he probably wouldn’t be able to go on living.
Sharon Quincy had just saved Cecilia, and in doing so, had also saved his broken family.
"Mr... Mr. Nathan..." Sharon Quincy, covered in blood, looked at Linden Nathan and asked weakly, "Can... can I still call you Godfather?"
Linden Nathan’s eyes reddened. He nodded repeatedly. "Yes, child. You’ve suffered."
They were on a public street, and out of concern for Cecilia’s identity, there were some things he couldn’t say directly.
"Actually, I know Miss Cecilia’s identity..." After she spoke, Sharon Quincy coughed, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. "Whether you believe me or not, I never treated her badly. Everything I did... was for you."
Hearing Sharon Quincy’s words, the guilt Cecilia had been feeling began to fade.
’She knew my identity and still kidnapped me.’
’What on earth is going on inside that head of hers?’
"Godfather... I... I did it. You told me to protect the young miss, and I did it..."
"Yes, yes, I know. Child, I know it hasn’t been easy for you. You’re a grateful child... I’ll make it up to you in the future."
Hearing Linden Nathan’s words, Sharon Quincy seemed to have finally received his forgiveness. She gave a faint smile and slowly closed her eyes.
"Sharon! Sharon, don’t fall asleep! Don’t fall asleep! Quick, someone save her!" The thought that Sharon Quincy’s life might be in danger filled Linden Nathan’s face with panic and alarm.
Seeing Linden Nathan like this, Cecilia Nathan lowered her gaze, her heart feeling as heavy as a stone.
’Sharon Quincy now has a place in her father’s heart.’
