Chapter 316: Club Initiation (1)

The students stared at the two members of the Healing Arts Club who had just come through the door. Rayen was on his phone, busy fiddling with it. Meanwhile, Yoo Gyeo was holding the very same megaphone that Gil had used this afternoon.

Yoo Gyeo raised the megaphone toward his mouth.

"L-Let’s go inside!"

Without any explanation, the two members of the Healing Arts Club led the students to the rooftop.

Gil and the others followed behind.

As soon as they passed through the door, the cold breeze touched their skin. Gil looked around, curious as to what kind of show the Healing Arts Club had cooked up.

Then, he was greeted by a very different rooftop from his memories.

"....."

The moon still hung high above the clouds, bathing the entire rooftop with its hue. However, aside from the top of their heads being open, the rest of the place was surrounded by tables and chairs stacked upon each other, forming walls on their left and right sides.

The entire rooftop had become a huge maze of tables and chairs.

"Whoa..."

"I remember the rooftop wasn’t like this just this afternoon. How can they change its layout so quickly?"

"Where did all these things come from?"

Gil glanced at Rayen and Yoo Gyeo, but the former only smiled at him, while the latter lifted up the microphone again.

"W-Welcome to H-Healing Arts Club’s initiation!"

Beside him, the corners of Rayen’s mouth twitched.

Just then, a lone sound of clapping resounded in their surroundings. No one else followed in clapping, making this lone clap fill the air with awkwardness. Rayen lifted his gaze away from the phone, and it landed on the source of these claps. He blinked.

Wasn’t this Son Areum — one of Choi Jachan’s attendants? Why was she here among the club applicants? Didn’t they give up chasing after Rayen?

Seeing that she was alone in clapping, Son Areum immediately stopped and lowered her hand.

Meanwhile, Rayen glanced around, but he did not find Choi Jaehan nor Lee Seoha anywhere. He breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, those two troublesome classmates of his weren’t together with Son Areum.

With that, he did not bother with Son Areum again. Even if she wanted to join, she would just be eliminated along with the other Unblooms.

Yoo Gyeo continued acting as the host.

"P-Please g-get y-your s-stamp c-cards f-from Rayen."

He was stuttering with almost every word. From his side, Rayen glanced at him and sighed. Still, he didn’t say anything and just continued fiddling with his phone as though he didn’t care about the ongoings at all.

Why the hell did they make these guys the hosts?

Gil was puzzled.

The other students were also reluctant on approaching Rayen. Why was he on his phone, anyway?

Fortunately, one of the applicants bravely made their way toward Rayen. It was Gil.

If he didn’t do that, when would they even start?

The moment Gil stepped forward and arrived in front of Rayen, he heard the latter muttering to himself.

"What kind of naming sense is this?"

But realizing that he also didn’t have a good naming sense himself, he shut his mouth.

Suddenly, a ding sounded from his phone. Rayen’s fingers paused. Rayen took his gaze away from his screen and looked at Gil.

"....." Gil’s lips were crooked.

"Hey, it’s you."

Gil nodded.

Rayen smiled and handed him a rectangular-shaped card. "Here. Your stamp card."

Without a delay, Gil took it from his hand before stepping back to the crowd and examining the card.

On it, there were three squares with different logos inside. The first of the three had a drawing of a pair of sneakers. The second square had a microphone. And lastly, the third one had a cap.

Immediately, Gil realized what these logos were about. The sneakers must represent dancing, while the microphone is for singing. Meanwhile, the cap must be for rapping.

After Gil finished getting his stamp card, the other students also followed suit. Rayen never put down his phone and glanced at it from time to time while handing out the stamp cards.

Just as Son Areum arrived before Rayen, another ding sounded from his phone. Rayen’s hands paused from handing out the stamp card as he lifted his gaze and stared at Son Areum.

Yoo Gyeo and Gil glanced at him.

Son Areum let out a sheepish smile. Rayen extended the card toward her. However, when she tried to take the card, she couldn’t pull it out.

"Um, my stamp card?"

Finally, Rayen snapped back to his senses. He let go of the card. Son Areum rejoined the crowd under Rayen’s weird gaze, standing not far away from Gil.

The handing out of the stamp card continued. Soon, every applicant had their own in their hands. Rayen had also pocketed his phone.

"What’s this stamp card about?" Gil asked.

Yoo Gyeo raised his megaphone. "W-We h-have t-three s-stations i—"

Rayen had had enough of his stuttering. He snatched the megaphone from Yoo Gyeo.

"Three stations. Three stamps. Once you gather all three stamps, you’re in," Rayen explained and handed the megaphone back to Yoo Gyeo.

Yoo Gyeo sighed.

"If you can’t find any of the stations and you wish to give up, just yell."

This was the first time he had spoken such a long phrase without stuttering. He stole a glance at Rayen from the corner of his eye.

"O-One of our members will fetch you," he continued.

Rayen: "....."

Seeing that Rayen did not comment on his stutter, Yoo Gyeo confidently faced the students again.

"P-Please proceed! Y-You have 1 hour to finish the maze. H-Have fun inside!"

The students glanced at the entryway of the maze. The wall of tables and chairs was too high and thick for them to see anything behind it. With one look, they determined it was too easy to get lost inside.

But how did they arrange this maze so quickly?

And also, was Ms. Jin aware that they’re using the rooftop for this kind of thing?

As Gil thought of that, he stepped inside the maze. But after a few minutes of walking, a rumbling sound came from behind him.
