The head then trembled and turned at a disgusting rate and angle before eventually letting out an ear-piercing screech.

Charlotte quickly ran away out of fear, stumbling back into Lillian and flinching.

Lillian watched as the noblewoman dashed away from her. She tilted her head before smiling.

Turning her attention back to the centipede, which continued to screech loudly, she felt a subtle tremor pass through the ground.

"W-what's going on!" Charlotte yelled, looking towards Lillian for answers.

In response, the white-haired girl shrugged, "Just get prepared for what is to come next. You don't need an answer right now, right?"

Just as Charlotte was about to respond, her words became stuck in her throat, and in the corner of her eyes, she watched as the centipede sank into the ground.

She did as Lillian told and got ready for what was to come.

She looked towards the hole it had disappeared into, watching as the mouth widened and rose.

Eventually, it turned into a dirt hill several metres tall.

And coming out of it was another centipede.

It had a black exoskeleton with a deep orange outline—the same colour as its skittering legs.

Charlotte watched as it slowly climbed out of the dirt hill, wrapping around the side of it.

Its legs, which were kicking and scratching at the neck of the hill, were thin, sharp, and around half a metre long each.

The total length of its segmented body was about 6 to 8 metres. It was also around half a metre in width.

Its size gave a chilling first impression, added to the foul appearance of its circular mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth.

As Charlotte continued to stare at the eerie centipede, more continued to pour out from the mouth of the hill.

From the pace of a silent river to an overflowing volcano, the hill erupted with a horde of centipedes, who climbed over each other as though in a frenzy to get them.

Charlotte widened her eyes, her voice becoming high-pitched as she yelled, "How many of them are there!? And what ranks are these creatures?!"

Lillian glanced at her coolly before looking back towards the rapidly approaching wall of insects.

She nonchalantly tilted her head side-to-side before responding with:

"Eh... I think there are about... 30, maybe here? They're all around E-rank, anyway."

"E rank?! With those sizes!"

Lillian plugged her ear, which was facing the noblewoman. She then asked:

"Could you please stop yelling?"

She then looked towards Norman to find him crouched on the ground, his palm pressing against it with absolute focus.

The tall metal pillars scattered around them then began to vibrate and shudder.

Coming out from their sides, fences stretched out and connected to nearby pillars. It was a slow and intense process, especially when a horde of centipedes was charging towards them.

And just before the horde could reach them, he finished.

CLANG! CLANG!

Lillian, resting her hands on her hips, looked around at the metal cage she found herself in. "Not too bad!"

Looking back towards Norman, who was wiping the sweat off his brow, she praised him:

"Excellent work, Norman. Do you still have any mana left?"

Norman got up from his crouch, looking towards Lillian, slightly out of breath, and responding with:

"Not a... *Cough*... Problem..."

He was, of course, lying.

Creating several pillars, each about 5-6 metres tall and having to connect them with metal fencing was quite taxing for the young man.

Lillian stretched her back, stretching her arms as well, "Welp! I should get to work now... Considering, I'm the one with the highest firepower here. No offense."

Norma gave a huff, "I shall concede to that fact."

Charlotte clicked her tongue and turned away, "My powers won't do any good to these filthy deaf creatures."

Lillian nodded with a smile and raised her hand, which was shaped like a gun. Before she began her barrage of attacks, she couldn't help but think...

'Man... I should invest in sunglasses. Wouldn't they help in gaining some points for me?'

Charlotte gave a repulsed expression as she backed away from the fence wall, disgusted over the shattered flesh and dripping green blood on it.

"That's... Disgusting..."

She watched as Lillian lowered her hand and looked at her strangely.

"Remind me, Charlotte, what was your first Trial like again?"

"My... Trial?" The noblewoman grinned before laughing poshly, "Well, if you must know, my trial was situated inside a rather established human civilisation and—"

"Uh, huh... So, your trial were with humans rather than monsters? I understand now..."

Lillian looked away from her, smiling wryly, 'Now I remember why she isn't used to monster guts...'

She then held her own chin, 'Well... That should be the case for me, too, right? Coming from a world with no monsters and all that... Wow, I really adapted here, huh?'

Pushing herself out of her thoughts and ignoring the noblewoman's pouting gaze at being interrupted, she said:

"Well, then! Let's go off and repeat this process a couple more times."

"So... While I don't dislike such methods of attacking afar... Are we truly not going to be attacking them head-on?"

Charlotte asked, sitting on the grass as she leaned the side of her face into her right palm.

Lillian shrugged, attacking a colony of ants whose mandibles were trying to grind through the metal bars.

"For what purpose? Even if it is a bit boring... Nowhere was it stated we can't use these tactics to win."

After saying that and getting rid of the remaining monsters, she looked up into the sky and read their score out loud.

"Louis Mana Academy up by 160 points. While the other team only have around 58."

Charlotte widened her eyes, "That's quite a... Large difference..."

Norman, having exhausted his mana reserves and lying down, huffed victoriously. He shakily raised his hand and pushed against his glasses.

"S-such... Is the result. We were destined for victory, after all..."

Charlotte, ignoring Norman's words, stared at the white-haired girl. Her surprised expression soon morphed into scepticism.

"Could you answer this humble question of mine, Vice Rep..."

"You can just call me Lillian, you know?" Lillian smiled wryly before nodding, "But yeah, sure, go for it."

"... How do you know the places where the monsters would be?"
