I was Kidnapped for Revenge by a Ruthless Alpha-Chapter 181: The Council Meeting Pt 1
***Author’s note: Sorry the updates are late for both books, life has been busy and work has been hella hectic. Winter swim training has begun so I’ve been swamped under a sea of children learning to swim and teens/young adults getting ready for spring tryouts. I’m beat after swimming in 93ºF water for 6 hours. Thanks for your patience readers!!!***
~Odette~
When I heard what happened to the ColdMoon attack my heart immediately sunk into my stomach. My mouth and throat dried up, it was hard to swallow, it was as if I was eating sharp, broken glass. My world was spinning, my thoughts where jumbled and screaming as loud as they could.
I felt a sense of stillness and strength enter my thoughts. Calming the chaos. Instantly I knew who had entered my head space.
It was Onyx. I could feel his warmth; his presence was soothing the disaster that was my mind moments ago.
Ambrose probably didn’t realize how solemn the look on his face was. I needed to get it together. I’m a luna now, I need to act like it. I gathered up the emotions Onyx helped me contain.
And as I got ready, I began plotting.
We know where he is.
We know his goal.
We will retaliate.
We will hit him and hit him hard.
I slid into the bathroom, leaned over the sink. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to focus my thoughts on breathing and how to behave like a luna. There will be a time later for the grieving and anger later. I have more important things.
I felt a newfound sense of determination.
These were my packs now. And on the night, I became Luna Queen, he attacked my people. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
He dared touched not only my mother, but now my people? He won’t get away with that. With any of the things he’s done. I may not be able to hurt his heart, but I could put a dent into his army. Slow him down. Which for someone like Ezelreth, that was worse, seeing as he had no heart to break and he had nothing he loved, except his plans for the world. He needed control. That much I knew just from looking at him that day in the cave.
My dad texted back almost instantly:
[Daddy: It’s so good to see your name pop up with a new message.]
[Daddy: I’ll get everyone together and we will make our way to the council room.]
[Me: I’m sending Hector to collect you guys and bring you here safely. This time, no scent masking. Come as you are. Bring my daddy the vampire king, and the whole royal court, Mammy and grandpa too. Leave Tia Rosa and Delilah.]
[Daddy: I’m bringing Arya.]
[Me: Artemasia is already bringing her.]
[Daddy: See you shortly.]
I put my phone away and finished getting ready for this far too early morning meeting.
It’s time we play the cards we have at the table with the council.
"Ready, Luna Queen Odette?" His smile, shined even as his eyes showed the heavy burden he was carrying, they held the pain of the news, barely keeping the feelings at bay.
"Ready, My Alpha King." I met his smile with a warm one of my own, but I know my eyes reflected the same pain his did.
He held his hand out for me to take, and so I did. We left together heading toward a room filled with old prejudice shifters that had a vendetta and a clan of older than dirt cranky vampires and a freaking dragon.
When we arrived at the door, I took a deep breath.
"Ready to meet your council?" He asked me with a mocking smile.
"No, but let’s do this anyways." He laughed at my honesty, and he opened the door allowing me to enter first.
I straightened my posture and put on my cold queen mask I’ve worn most of my life. I was raised as a princess in a court of bloodthirsty beings. A room of wolves was nothing.
Nothing compared to the monsters I’ve known and the ones we’re to face now.
When we entered the room, everyone stood. All eyes were on me when we entered. Glares, knitted brows, and pursed lips. Only a few had friendly faces. A growl we heard made both Ambrose and I jerk our heads toward the direction of the sound, and Ambrose released a deep and dangerously threatening guttural growl, his aura pooled off him, thickening the air around us, making it hard for some in the room to breathe.
They all lowered their heads in submission.
I was surprised when I went to take my seat to the right of the Alpha King, he pulled his seat out and gestured for me to take it. I looked at him with questioning eyes.
"Why are there more seats than usual Alpha King?" Alpha Cameron of the MareTime Pack. Ambrose had said once, he would be an ally if I needed one on the council, he could be trusted more than most of the men here.
"We are still waiting on a few others to arrive." Ambrose answered with a controlled tone.
"Understood Alpha." Alpha Cameron accepted his answer without question.
"May we ask, who else are we waiting for? All of the Council members are here, except for your Beta, who I believe is managing things with our military prep at the moment." Alpha Darius, the smug bastard asked pushing for more information.
"You’ll find out in a moment."
The minute the door opened, the room was flooded with the scent of blood, death and jasmine.
My family arrived.
The room blew up, and fire was breathing in every direction as the majority of council members lost their damn minds.
"What is the meaning of this!" Alpha Drake of the EarthMine Pack howled jumping from his seat, readying to shift.
"Why are those bloodthirsty demons in our territory?" Alpha Darius of the GrassLand Pack Screamed slamming his palms on the tabletop. His fangs extending and his eyes flashing a bright green symbolizing his wolf pushing to the surface.
When the chaos erupted in the room, my family just stood watching, unmoved and unbothered. They held their usual distant, strong, and unconcerned vibe.
My dad, I was impressed with how well he was handling the threatening attitude of the people in the room here. The person my dad was months ago would have painted the walls with their blood for their insolence, without batting an eye or having any second thoughts.
Ambrose stood up, but I held my hand out, stopping him from reacting.
’I will handle this.’ Gesture said more than my thoughts ever needed too.
I slowly stood from my seat. My eyes glowing red at first, I could feel the shift. The goddess in me was rising. The power radiated in my chest before flowing off my and threads of electrical raw power spread through the room. Tendons of power grabbed hold of the unruly shifters in the room and pulled them into their seats, cementing their feet into the floor.
My voice carried the echo of an ancient goddess when I spoke, "Silence. You are in the presence of your goddess and Luna Queen, you will obey." My aura unleashed. The room fell silent and everyone in the room except my family looked down, their eyes avoiding mine.
The pissing match ended before it even began.
