By the time the fourth act of the hidden talent show rolled around, the atmosphere had really come together. Still, I never would’ve guessed that Dr. Vier and Funf-an would do a comedy duo routine. And to top it off, Funf-san was the funny man of the act……

Also, this has nothing to do with their routine, but I have to say, seeing Tre-san standing off to the side of the stage with her arms crossed and this smug look that seemed to say "Yes, I raised them myself" was honestly hilarious. I know her well enough to tell she probably had nothing to do with that duo, but she clearly wanted to play the "wise mentor watching from afar" role just for the vibe.

She didn’t even go up on stage, just lingered at the side…… Well, including the surprise factor, it was pretty entertaining. And now for the next garapon…… frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Oh, wow. So after Fate-san and Sieg-san, that makes three lovers in a row. Not that it means anything special, but when people close to you keep getting picked, it does make you feel kind of happy.

A short while later, Illness-san arrived.

[Thank you very much. Illness-san, that's a beautiful dress. I’ve seen you in maid uniform and casual clothes, but this is the first time I’ve seen you in a dress, it’s a refreshing change. The darker tones give it a refined look, and it suits your composed image really well.]

[Kuhihi, thank youuu. Since it’s Kaito-sama’s birthdaaaaay, I decided to dress up a little biiiiiit.]

Though Illness-san is petite, she has a calm and mature air about her, so a subdued-colored dress suits her perfectly. How should I put it, she isn’t being outshone by the dress; she wears it with grace and confidence. It felt fresh, yet incredibly fitting.

[As for your birthday preseeeeent, I’ve prepared some perfume for you this tiiiiime. Here you gooooo.]

[Thank you. Now that you mention it, I don’t really have any perfume. Judging by Illness-san's preferences, I’m guessing it’s rose-scented?]

Perfume as a gift feels kind of elegant and new to me…… It makes my heart flutter just a little. I’ve never worn perfume before, but putting aside for everyday use, for parties or formal occasions, it might be nice to add a touch of fragrance. It could add a layer of refinement.

[Indeeeeed, I do love roses, but when it comes to perfuuuume, rose tends to have a strong sceeeeent, and people have differing preferences regarding thaaaat. And since Kaito-sama isn’t very used to wearing perfuuuuume, I thought something with a lighter scent would be more suitableeeee, so this time I focused on a citrus fragraaaaance. I did use a hint of roses thouuuugh.]

[I see. I do like the fresh scent of citrus, so that sounds nice.]

[Yeeees. For the top note, I used citrus sceeeeents, the middle note is a floral-fruity bleeeend, and the base note is woodyyyyy. There’s a bit of roses used in the heart nooooote.]

[……I’m really not familiar with perfumes at all, so I can’t say I fully understand, but you made this yourself, right, Illness-san? Then I know it’s going to be great, and I’m looking forward to using it…… though, since I’m a complete beginner, if possible, I’d love it if you could teach me how to apply it when the time comes……]

R- Right, I think I read about this in some manga once. Perfume has something like a top note that you smell right after applying it, a middle note that comes out after a bit of time, and a base note that appears around an hour later, and the combination of those, and which one is emphasized, makes a big difference or something.

Well, I really don’t know anything about this stuff, so I’ll just ask Illness-san to teach me how to use it properly when the time comes.

Before I could finish my sentence, Illness-san suddenly stepped in close, taking advantage of a small lapse in my attention, and gave me a light kiss, just enough to make a soft chuu sound, then quickly pulled away.

It completely caught me off guard, but the soft sensation of her lips and the gentle waft of rose perfume left me feeling like my mind was melting.

[IIIIIIIIII’m wearing rose-scented perfume myseeeeelf. What did you thiiiiiiink?]

[Eh? Ah, errr, it smelled wonderful, and…… it makes my heart racing.]

[Kuhihi, theeeeen I’m glad to hear thaaaaaat. Once agaaaaain, happy birthday, Kaito-samaaaaaa.]

Saying that, Illness-san smiled happily. Compared to before, she seemed more emotionally expressive than she had been before—like she was letting feelings of joy and happiness show more openly. And the fact that those feelings were being directed toward me, it made me feel deeply honored…… and truly happy.
