I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 207: Main Event (2)
"Tell me... You are the guest of our kingdom. Have we done something bad to you, for you blatantly activate your talent once you get inside the room and insult us?"
After I say that, the other Grandmaster looks at our guests with a frown on their faces. Seeing no one answer my question, the king raises his hand and says,
"Grandmaster Gwyndolin, please hold your power a little. They cannot answer your question with that much pressure from your power."
I nod and take back my mana. I can see our guests gasp for air, and the crown prince looks at the king with an apologetic expression. However, before he can say something, the man who activates his talent walks forward and kneels on the ground.
"My lord did nothing wrong! I’m the one using my talent even though my lord forbids me from doing so! Please don’t punish my lord and our kingdom! Punish me! Place all the blame on me instead of my lord and our kingdom."
The king looks at our guests and stays silent for half a minute to make the situation even more tense. He raises his hand and says.
"Get up. I will forgive you this one time. However, don’t expect us to forgive you more than once. We are a forgiving kingdom, but we are not stupid enough to let anyone slight us more than one."
The prince releases a sigh and says.
"We understand, Your Highness. We will not do anything like that."
The king nods his head and says.
"Good. Let’s get this over with."
The prince nods and says.
"Very well. What kind of thing do you want us to talk about first?"
"Let’s get straight to the case, shall we? Tell me the reason why the Tanada Kingdom’s army is stationed near our border. Not only that, but we even have a report that more than a hundred soldiers are being found inside our territory. Tell us the reason why, and we might not be declaring war against the Tanada Kingdom."
The prince nods his head and says.
"Very well. May I take out something?"
The king nods his head and says.
"You may."
The prince takes a scroll out of his pouch and puts it on the table. He looks at the king and says.
"This is the report from our scout and other soldiers on the eastern border."
The Grandmaster Todor raises his staff and lets it float. He checks the scroll for a few seconds before giving it to the king. This is the procedure the King and Duke Verqur made and asked us to do. The other did not like it, but I understand because it is just like the poison checker. There is a reason why Cupbearers and Food Tasters are very important jobs in the Royal Court. Not only important but also high-paying. Hell, some kingdoms even make sure that positions can only be attained by noble houses, and it is a huge honor.
You need to make sure your poison tester is loyal to you, after all. If they are not loyal, then you will not live long on the throne.
The king opens the scroll and reads it. After a few seconds of reading, he gives the scroll to Duke Verqur. The king looks at the prince with a serious expression and says,
"A group of monsters, at least ten thousand in strength, can be seen coming from our territory. That is what is written on this scroll. Do you think that we will not know when there are more than ten thousand monsters in our territory? Especially when your scout tells you that they are coming from the Northeast of our kingdom."
Instead of panicking, the prince looks at the king calmly and says.
"We only get the report, and we act accordingly. Ten thousand monsters are something that we cannot overlook, especially when monsters are the reason why the Gokuya Empire fell. We did not want that to happen to our kingdom and took extreme precautions because of this. That is why some of our soldiers get into your territory. They are searching for the culprit for this problem. They are searching for the Void Crack or anything that makes the monsters migrate."
"That is a good excuse if there is a monster wave to begin with. However, there is no such thing as a monster wave."
"We know. However, if there is smoke, there is fire, and we need to search for that fire. It might be a drunken vision of our scout or something along that line, but we need to make sure."
"And why didn’t you ask us first? Instead, your king goes to your kingdom’s eternal enemy, the Guihan Kingdom. What makes matters worse is that this happens when one of our Grandmasters has a vacation in the Western Continent, and our navy takes care of a large number of pirates coming from the East. Oh! Let’s not forget that our Southern Border is still unstable, and the chance of the remnants of the Gokuya Empire attacking us is still hanging over our heads, so we cannot move our Southern army. That is a little bit suspicious, no?"
When the king puts it that way, it is suspicious for them to move when our kingdom is at its weakest. Southern, Northern, and one of the key persons to defend the kingdom are not in the position to help the effort of defending the Eastern side of the kingdom.
If they attack, only a small portion of the entire army of the Gipan Kingdom will answer immediately. The South will not send our army immediately. Not because of the Gokuya Empire, no. Because we did not like the North, even though our relationship was healing, it was still not enough for us to move our soldiers immediately.
As for the north... They will send half their soldiers, but most of their elite soldiers are navy, and they are busy with the massive number of pirates trying to attack our sea region.
All in all, this movement is somewhat suspicious because it is a public secret that each kingdom will know what is happening in each other’s kingdoms. The Tanada will know about the pirates because those pirates will go to their territory as well.
I can see the prince start to crack under that word. It looks like even he did not know that answer. However, even with this much pressure, he still maintains his poker face. However, I can see a small thing that changes, like his feet start to move from left to right in nervousness.
"All of this is a coincidence, Your Highness. We only move because we get a report about the monster movement."
"We still did not know if this is a real monster wave we are talking about. We also do our own investigation when your king answers our questions in the past. We have explored the entire northern territory, the location where your scout tells you there are monster waves, ten thousand strong, but there is nothing. We did not find anything. So, what is your answer?"
I can see the prince take a deep breath and say.
"I cannot say anything, but it is all coincidence, Your Highness. I don’t know how to say this, but all of this is a series of chain coincidences that are happening all at once. We did not want a war against the Gipan Kingdom, and we will never get an alliance with our eternal enemy. I cannot offer anything but my word, but if you believe me, I promise you that we are not doing anything but taking a precaution for the monster wave."
The king looks at the prince for a few seconds before nodding his head.
"Very well. I will believe your word for now. However, we need to talk about the army that is still on our border."
"Of course, Your Highness."

|3rd POV|
Theodulf releases a sigh as he lies on the bed. Today is not his day. He needed to resort to some sort of begging to make sure the Gipan Kingdom did not attack his kingdom. His father is truly giving him the hardest job in the world. To take care of the political nightmare his decision has caused them.
"That is the worst job."
"However, we are lucky that it went smoothly, and they did not declare war against us."
"Yes. That is a miracle in itself. However, we still need to make sure that my father moves our army from the Eastern border and make sure that the army stays seven kilometers away from the border for the next seven days. That requirement is not as easy as it sounds. With how my father has behaved lately, it will be hard. He will think of me as someone who supports the Gipan Kingdom rather than him."
Theodulf rubs his temple as a headache starts to appear. He only hoped that his father would listen to him and not escalate this situation even more.
