I Truly Am The Villian-Chapter 1168 - 1167: Night Ghost King, Entering the Academy
Chapter 1168 -1167: Night Ghost King, Entering the Academy
The grand hall was vast and spacious.
Lu Changyou was holding a map, seemingly scrutinizing something.
When he saw Xu Zimei and the others, he smiled and said, “I’ve already sent someone to relay the message back to the academy. The dean should reply within a few days.”
“What is Teacher busy with?” Xie Changliu stepped forward and asked.
“The last time the Cangwu Abyss erupted, many Night Ghosts escaped.
Although we eliminated a lot of them, some still managed to hide,” Lu Changyou explained.
As he spoke, Lu Changyou’s eyes suddenly lit up.
He suggested, “You can help us capture the Night Ghosts. Afterwards, it might be easier for you to obtain the Jiuyou Divine Grass from the academy.”
“Does Teacher Lu have any leads?” Xie Changliu exchanged glances with Xu Zimei before asking.
“Come look at the map,” Lu Changyou said, laying the map out before them.
It was a complete map of Heaven Holy Mountain.
It detailed the locations of the Heavenly Saint Academy and Azure Dragon Town.
Several red marks were placed on the map.
“These Demonic Skills practitioners are extremely cunning; they remain inactive during the day and only move at night,”
Lu Changyou explained. “We’ve scouted for over two months and finally pinpointed all their lairs.
We’re just waiting for the chance to catch them all in one sweep.”
“The Lu Residence,” Xu Zimei glanced at a marked spot on the map, smiling with interest.
“That’s right. The Lu Residence is their largest hideout,” Lu Changyou confirmed.
“In Azure Dragon Town, the Lu Residence boasts one of the longest histories. Patriarch Lu has many connections and is well respected here.”
“When will we act?” Xie Changliu asked.
“Tonight,” Lu Changyou responded. “Make sure to keep this a secret; we’ll lie in ambush and wait for the prey to come to us.”
The Heavenly Saint Academy took this operation very seriously.
In addition to Lu Changyou leading the group, the academy’s eight most renowned students accompanied as well.
It was considered a training mission, too.
By afternoon, the eight students made their way down the mountain to Azure Dragon Town.
Lu Changyou briefly introduced them to a few people.
As night fell over Azure Dragon Town, the town became much quieter.
The darkness was thicker than expected.
Over a dozen figures swiftly left the grand hall, stepping across rooftops as they moved.
……
The Lu Residence,
After the death of the young master of the Lu family, the entire residence was draped in white lanterns, and the atmosphere was immensely heavy.
Patriarch Lu, after concluding family matters, returned to his room.
As soon as he entered, the lights went out, and a wisp of black smoke floated into the room.
“What do you want from me?” a hoarse voice asked flatly.
“I need you to kill a few people,” Patriarch Lu replied.
“You should know that given the current urgency, everything should prioritize unsealing and releasing Lord Mountain Ghost,” the hoarse voice answered.
“I know, but a son’s death must be avenged,” Patriarch Lu said coldly.
“Who do you want to kill?” The hoarse voice paused briefly before asking.
“I’ve had their portraits drawn. They should still be in Azure Dragon Town,” Patriarch Lu replied.
“Before dawn, you’ll see their corpses,” the hoarse voice echoed before vanishing from the room.
Outside the Lu Residence, silence pervaded, broken only by the endless chirping of nameless insects huddled in corners.
“Why don’t we just barge in directly? What if they don’t come out?” Xie Changliu asked.
“That’s not an option. The Lu Residence holds significant influence in Azure Dragon Town. Without solid evidence, we cannot act rashly,” Lu Changyou shook his head.
“The Heavenly Saint Academy is already chaotic enough. We cannot let Azure Dragon Town descend into the same disorder.”
“There’s movement,” Xie Changliu suddenly noted.
Before them, the space outside the Lu Residence rippled, and a wisp of black smoke flitted past.
“Go!” Lu Changyou made a decisive move, stepping off the rooftop and descending swiftly.
With a large sweep of his hand, the air seemed to explode, forcing three black shadows out of hiding.
“It’s an ambush, retreat!” a panicked hoarse voice shouted.
The three figures immediately fled in different directions.
The eight students from the Heavenly Saint Academy were stationed at the back entrance of the Lu Residence, while Xu Zimei and the others were at the front.
The trio attempted to escape but were quickly subdued by the overwhelming strength of Xu Zimei’s group.
“Do we need them alive or dead?” Xu Zimei asked.
“Dead or alive, it doesn’t matter,” Lu Changyou replied without hesitation.
With a flick of Xu Zimei’s finger, a surge of immense power erupted, annihilating the three shadows in an instant.
“To the back!” Lu Changyou gave Xu Zimei a surprised look but quickly rushed toward the rear gate.
When they arrived, they found the academy’s eight students locked in fierce combat with numerous Night Ghosts.
These Night Ghosts weren’t particularly powerful, but their ability to merge with the darkness made their attacks highly unconventional.
“Teacher Lu, the Night Ghost King has escaped,” one of the students reported.
“Deal with the smaller ones first,” Lu Changyou ordered, frowning as the thick night covered everything like a shroud.
With the help of the others, the smaller Night Ghosts were quickly eradicated.
“What happened?” Lu Changyou asked grimly.
“We underestimated the Night Ghost King’s strength. He’s at least at the Stepping into Immortality level. We couldn’t stop him,” a student replied.
“Why not question the Lu Residence? They’ve been harboring the Night Ghosts. Surely they know something,” someone suggested.
Lu Changyou hesitated briefly but ultimately shook his head.
“Everyone, return to the sect,” he ordered.
He then turned to Xu Zimei and Xie Changliu, saying, “You two, come along.”
“Does the Lu Residence have something to hide?” Xie Changliu asked, perplexed.
“The evidence is clear. Why not hold them accountable?”
“Changliu, you’ve been away for too long and don’t understand,” Lu Changyou replied.
“I wasn’t supposed to tell you this, but the Lu Residence has ties to the vice dean. We cannot lay a finger on them.”
Lu Changyou’s words were cutting. This matter was beyond his authority to decide.
The group quickly cleaned up the Night Ghosts’ corpses before heading back to the Heavenly Saint Academy under cover of night.
The Night Ghost King’s escape had already alarmed the enemy. Capturing him again wouldn’t be easy.
………
Exiting Azure Dragon Town, they climbed the steps leading up Heaven Holy Mountain.
After about ten minutes, they saw an academy standing tall amidst the swirling clouds and mist.
The Heavenly Saint Academy was situated at the mountain’s peak.
While it had been invisible at the base, they could now clearly see a black mist rushing skyward, solidifying the entire void above.
The academy’s grand formation was active, slowly rotating.
Walking through its wide gates, Lu Changyou led Xu Zimei and Xie Changliu northward.
They stopped in front of a wooden cabin surrounded by pines and cypresses.
Before the cabin stood an elderly man dressed in a white robe, his demeanor reminiscent of an Immortal Crane.
His gaze was sharp, and a red mark was visible on his forehead.
“Dean,” Lu Changyou greeted.
“No need to explain. I already know,” the old man said with a smile, waving his hand.
Looking at Xie Changliu and Xu Zimei, he said, “You can enter the Cangwu Abyss, but you must agree to one condition.”
“What is it?” Xu Zimei asked.
“Lure out the Evil Soul Mountain Ghost,” the old man replied.
