Chapter 212: Chapter 212: Anjali’s Change!

By the week end, Yash found himself in an emotional condition that left him both confused and scared.

His obsession with Kirti had not completely disappeared till now yet.

Instead it lingered like a shadow hidden in the corners of his mind. Yet something fundamental had shifted in his perception of reality.

He quit glancing at his phone every half minute, stopped anticipating messages that were never meant to come.

He gave up spending hours analyzing her Instagram stories looking for secret meanings that didn’t exist.

He no longer felt that overwhelming sadness when she passed by him without acknowledging him.

Instead he found himself pondering over Anjali often than he cared to admit.

How she recalled small details from their talks. he don’t know when he begin liking the manner in which she asked about his day with interest rather than simple courtesy.

The sensation was, unlike what he had gone through with Kirti. It wasn’t as powerful, frantic or overwhelming like her. Yet it felt somehow comforting. More genuine.

He couldn’t overlook the spark of joy that ignited within him whenever he saw Anjali walking towards the gate each morning.

---------------

On Thursday afternoon near 6:30 PM, if there were any last fragile hope lingering in Yash’s heart towards Kirti that too would be utterly destroyed on this day.

Yash settled into his position at the security booth casually browsing on his phone while remaining alert; as was the daily routine.

Anjali had texted him beforehand stating that she would get late today, as she used to come normally by now.

She said that she needed to take care of some tasks in the city, he still didn’t know what her job is but he didn’t care.

But by 6:45 PM Anjalis vehicle arrived at the gate sooner than anticipated time.

Yash instantly straightened his posture, a grin spreading across his face before he could hold it back.

That involuntary reaction astonish him greatly even now whenever he think about it.

--------------

Anjali exited her vehicle appearing a bit fatigued.

Her dress was a little wrinkled. Her hair was not as orderly as it normally tend to look. A tiredness in her gaze revealed the demands she had faced throughout a day.

"Having a rough day?" Yash inquired, his tone filled with genuine worry that had become his almost second nature.

Anjali looked up while locking her car. Her weary face immediately brightened into a smile that seemed to illuminate his entire world.

"You can’t even dare to imagine Yash! Running over town for errands is draining me. I am utterly fatigued today."

She walked up to his booth placing her bag down with relief.

"Do you want to get some coffee from the corner store? You seem like you really need it now."

"Oh, How thoughtful of you Yash—"

What Yash was unaware of was that Anjali’s tiredness wasn’t completely pretending on this occasion.

During the week of diligently following her strategy an unforeseen change began occurring within her. The usual professional distance she kept from him was starting to break down.

She realized she truly liked talking with him. The manner in which Yash laugh at her silly jokes whenever she talked he began taking this job more than just a job.

At some point of time she has stopped scheming with him in these days, even now she sometimes wondered.

At what moment did this plan cease to be a mere job?

She began anticipating their meetings, not out of obligation but from sincere desire of her heart. The way he smiled upon spotting her stirred a feeling deep, within her heart. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

She understood well not to develop emotions for a Alex’s family member as it would probably not end well. Still she found herself at his booth her heart racing for reasons.

She reminded herself sternly.

Stop it. You’re here to change him, bring him out of his current delusion; not to develop feelings with him. Keep it professional.

Yet while mulling this over she found herself observing the way his eyes creased when he smiled at her. How his tone mellowed when he inquired about her day.

"Anjali?" Yash’s voice snapped her back, to reality. "Are you alright? You just drifted off for a moment."

"Oh! Sorry, I am exhausted by the day" she replied swiftly giving a smile that was more sincere than she meant. "Coffee would be lovely. Allow me to just—."

"Ah...look who’s here, well...well."

The mocking tone sliced through their conversation as easily as a knife through butter.

Yash and Anjali both turned to see Kirti positioned a few paces away from them, her boyfriend was next to her, arms crossed firmly across his chest.

Kirti’s car was left in a odd angle, at the gate as though she had halted abruptly after spotting them in each others company.

Kirti looked at Yash with a gaze brimming with contempt and revulsion that unsettled his gut.

Her lovely face, which he had admired quietly for months was now contorted into a sneer he had never witnessed aimed at him so blatantly before or they would have but he noticed them only today.

"So is this your new target now?" Kirti remarked with sarcasm.

"When the girl you’re stalking on earlier rejects you, you just switch to the person who pays you any mind? How utterly pathetic can you be?"

Yash experienced the sensation of being struck in the face.

"What? No that’s not—"

"Don’t even attempt to deny it!" Kirti interrupted him her tone escalating with anger that caught the notice of people around them.

"I’ve noticed the way you look at her now. That unsettling fixated gaze you once directed at me. You’re a stalker who won’t accept a refusal!"

Her boyfriend moved menacingly swelling his chest. "Oh, so baby is he the one who has been tormenting you for past few months?

That revelation brought a evil smile on his face, "You sick pervert. Dropping presents at her doorstep like a lunatic. Dialing, from new numbers even if she blocked you. You even dared to get employed here just to follow her around."

"How much more are you planning to fall down."

Yash tried to respond in his defense but realised he was unable to utter a word.

Everything they mentioned was accurate despite his intentions appearing differently in his thoughts.

A number of locals had paused to observe the dispute forming an expanding group of intrigued spectators.

Yash sensed his cheeks flush with embarrassment and disgrace.

"I... I wasn’t intending to..." he murmured softly his tone scarcely heard.

"Did not intend to do what?" Kirti questioned with outrage. "Did not mean to make me feel insecure, in my residence? Did not mean to follow me like loach? Did not mean to disregard every time I asked you to stop bothering me?"

She faced Anjali with a look of sympathy that was obviously intended to offend. "I truly feel bad for you. You appear to be a good person.. Believe me distance yourself from this man as quickly as possible. He is totally unstable in his mind.

It’s flowers and smiles right now but, before long you’ll be the one submitting police complaints."

"Distance yourself from him as early as possible unless it is too late."

Anjali, who had been quietly watching the exchange, with discerning eyes eventually broke the silence with a tone. "I appreciate your concern, but I can handle that myself."

"Pardon me?" Kirti faced her eyebrows lifted in astonishment at the disturbance.

"I said that is none of your business" Anjali echoed, her voice soft but, with an undertone. "You’ve made your point quite evident. There’s no reason to continue embarrassing him like this."

Kirti scoffed mockingly. "Oh so you are standing up for him? That’s amusing! You obviously have no clue, about the type of person he truly’s "

"Honestly I know what type of individual he is." Anjali remarked quietly stepping up to stand next to Yash as a clear sign of backing.

"He is a person who is in love with someone, and people tend to do things when they are in love. Yet he is also someone who has shown kindness to me respects me and is working to improve himself."

"Do you really believe he will change?" Kirti scoffed in disbelief. "Individuals like him never do! He’s simply manipulating you just like he did with me!"

"No " Anjali answered resolutely her eyes fixed on Kirti with assurance. "What you are doing at the moment is not simply about safeguarding me or cautioning me.

This outburst today stems from your hurt pride. You aim to embarrass him because his interest that is earlier focused on you is began to lessen in these days and this greatly unsettled you and now you seek payback."

The audience observing had increased in number with many phones capturing the encounter for social networking sites.

Kirtis face reddened with fury at being confronted bluntly. "How could you—"
