I Received System to Become Dragonborn-Chapter 944: Different
Chapter 944: Different
The lightning that came from above wasn’t like ordinary bolts. They weren’t just quick bursts of energy that vanished in a blink. They were made into blades, sharp-edged constructs of raw Magic shaped like massive swords of white-blue light.
They struck down from the sky at blinding speeds just like usual lightning. Each impact splitting sand, rock, and air with terrifying force.
Erend’s wings flared wide as he twisted through the storm but even with his Lightning Dragon body that was alsmot as fast as the lightning themselves, he couldn’t avoid them all.
One of the blades slashed across his shoulder, sending a burst of sparks and pain through his scales. He hissed and moved then realizing something that made his chest tighten.
Setekh-Ra’s power wasn’t just overwhelming. It was unnatural, different and stronger than even Thar’Zul-Vekar, the corrupted Forest God they once defeated, or actually, redeemed.
This wasn’t just another boss like what they had faced before. This was a being built for war and destruction that Erend couldn’t help but wondered how this kind of being were able to be subdued.
Eccar grunted as he raised layered Earth shields above him, each forged from his own Magic rather than drawing from the land.
The blades slammed into them one by one and shattering the stone barriers with brutal precision. After just three hits, each shield crumbled, forcing Eccar to summon another and then another. His Magic energy was draining faster than expected.
He looked up at Setekh-Ra standing calmly in the distance, not even moving and just watching their struggle with that same maddening composure.
"That son of a bitch," Eccar growled under his breath.
His body flared with golden-brown light as he started moving toward the Boss while ducking and dodging between falling blades. His Magic continuously weaving more shields above him.
Erend saw Eccar moving and understood immediately. They couldn’t win by dodging alone. The source of the storm was Setekh-Ra. Take him down and the rest might follow.
He surged forward. His body glowing bright like a comet. In an instant, he reached Setekh-Ra and unleashed a powerful thick and roaring lightning lance from his maw, the beam crashed against the golden armor of the Boss’s raised arm.
BOOM!
Setekh-Ra didn’t dodge. He braced himself and the impact cracked the armor. Sparks flew in every direction. The ground at his feet turning to molten glass.
Erend roared and poured more power into the attack, lightning howling as it tried to tear through the defense.
The blades above began to lessen. Their frequency dropping as Setekh-Ra was forced to focus.
That’s when Eccar arrived.
The Earth Dragon slammed both feet down, creating a prison of earth that wrapped around Setekh-Ra’s legs and crept upward, trying to bind him. Then, drawing on his deepest Magic, he formed a spear of dense stone. It was pure earth shaped by force of will, and hurled it.
It struck the Boss in the ribs.
The golden armor cracked.
Eccar didn’t stop. He charged, slamming the spear deeper, breaching the plates and driving it into the flesh beneath. Setekh-Ra snarled for the first time.
The arm blocking Erend’s attack crumbled under the pressure and the lightning lance pierced through. It struck his face in a blinding flash.
For several seconds, Setekh-Ra took the full brunt of the lightning.
Then the earth beneath him cracked. Eccar’s bindings gave way. With a thunderous blast, Setekh-Ra was flung backward, thrown hundreds of meters across the scorched battlefield.
Erend and Eccar didn’t hesitate. The moment Setekh-Ra’s massive body was sent flying across the battlefield they flew after him. Their wings slicing through the storm winds with focused force. They knew that if they gave him even a second to recover they might not survive what came next.
The sand exploded where Setekh-Ra crashed. His body rolling violently across the sand before finally slamming into the ground and carving a long trench through the scorched battlefield.
But he wasn’t down for long. With a deep grinding sound, he pushed himself upright. His towering form rising again like some unbreakable monument.
But Erend and Eccar were already there.
In perfect sync, the two Dragons attacked. Eccar brought forth a wall of spiked stone that launched from the ground like a collapsing wave while Erend channeled lightning into a storm of piercing bolts that hammered down from above.
Setekh-Ra raised his arms to defen but this time, his armor cracked after receiving those powerful attacks.
Then it shattered.
Chunks of golden-blue plating burst away from his body in a series of brilliant explosions, revealing what lay beneath. A humanoid figure, towering like the Dragonborn, but formed of something strange. His "flesh" shimmered like forged glass and desert crystal, faceted and glowing faintly from within.
Erend narrowed his eyes. "Is that his true body?"
But before either of them could react, the figure began to dissolve. Granules of sand peeled away from its body, blowing into the wind like dust caught in a storm.
Gone.
Both Dragons hovered in the air, stunned.
"What the hell..." Eccar muttered in his low, growling voice. "I don’t feel his energy. It didn’t come to me."
Erend’s brows furrowed, his glowing eyes scanning the dunes below. "I didn’t get any System notification either. That means..."
"He’s not defeated," Eccar finished.
For a moment, the battlefield fell into a haunting stillness. Only the sound of thunder and distant wind remained.
Then, without warning, the sands in front of them erupted upward.
Grains of glowing dust spiraled, pulled by invisible forces, and within seconds a new body formed. Setekh-Ra stood tall again, his armor reformed in a perfect state. Gleaming and untouched.
It was as if their last attack had never happened.
Setekh-Ra stared at them with those same glowing emerald eyes. His voice echoed like metal grinding against stone.
"I told you that strength alone will not be enough to defeat me," he said, his tone calm.
Both of them felt it. Its not just the shock of his regeneration but the deeper creeping dread in their chests. Something about Setekh-Ra wasn’t bound by the usual rules of Dungeon Bosses.
Something they hadn’t yet understood.
Erend growled lowly. "Then we’ll just have to figure out what will."
